Will Bioshock come to Playstation 3?

Wolfpup

CAGiversary!
Just wondering if anyone's heard about this or not. Obviously it's one of, if not my most anticipated titles.

haven't heard anything about it...i wouldn't be suprised if you don't hear anything about it up untill the release on the 360. I wouldn't be suprised if it comes to the ps3, but at this time there is nothing to support that.

Yeah :whistle2:(

I'm a little worried that it might not, just because I'm not sure if Irrational would have the resources for it (unless a publisher really wants it), and I'm assuming it's a lot easier to port it to the 360 than the PS3 (probably you can use a lot of the same tools and just recompile stuff for the 360 and optimize, I suppose).

Dang nabbit! I HAVE to have it, but my current PC can't run it, and the 360 is crazy loud and I don't trust it's reliability as far as I can throw it :whistle2:(

1 year warranty son. =)

if you want it that bad get the 360. It really isn't that loud, I barely notice it. Yes it is louder then the other systems I have had, but if you have a surround sound, you will never notice it. My launch unit broke last feb, and the replacement has been fine. My ps2 broke 4 times, so it isn't like sony is mr reliable. It just comes down to how lucky you are I guess.
They already announced that BioShock is Pc , 360 exclusive.
That doesn't mean anything these days, unless the name Sony/Nintendo/MS is directly attached. VF5 was supposed to be exclusive, as well.

qft

There was a rumor floating around on Euro sites it was coming, but it was quickly squashed.

Its been announced formally for 360 and PC.

My guess is Irrational is just hedging their bets and will await for the PS3 installed base to get larger before handing the port job to a second string developer.

I think were gonna be able to count the console exclusive franchises on one hand. Final Fantasy, Gran Turismo... thats all I can think of. I believe the new MGS will come to the 360.

Only first party titles will be exclusive.

Doesn't help me when I want to pull it out 5, 10, 15 years from now to replay it :whistle2:(

I have a 360, and it's crazy loud on 360 games. All three of my 360s sounded like blenders, or idling jet engines. It's seriously distracting to me, so I'm not going to get a game for the 360 except as a last resort. And personally I don't buy that Microsoft's hardware is anywhere close to Sony's reliability (though that's just from my own and my friends experience).

I know how "exclusives" go this past generation, so I do think there's a shot, but I'm just worried it's too "small" of a title to make it (even though it'll probably be the best game out this year).

Do you mean to imply that Sony's harware is reliable?
Do you mean to imply that Sony's harware is reliable?
yeah my heart stopped for a second when I read that one:roll:

i never claimed msft reliability was great, imo it is almost as shitties as sonys products...my camera, my tv (repaired 2 x in the first year) and my 4 ps2 got my back on that one.

Their hardware is reliable from my experiences. I've never had a problem with my PS2 (expect when someone tripped on a wire and hit it off a shelf), my PSP, and my PS3 hasn't given me a single problem yet. I guess I just got lucky?

I'd say you just got lucky. I've had 3 PS2s break and 3 Xboxs break, and my 360 (about 4 months old) is starting to show problems.

The only system I've ever owned to give me troubles was the Gamecube surprisingly enough which gave me disc read errors. I think it only gave me the errors with Resident Evil games for some reason IIRC.

The 360 is the only system that's given my problems. I think the only reason my third hasn't died is I don't use it much.

And no, I wasn't implying Sony's hardware is reliable, I was saying that. They've always had good hardware, though the first version of the PS1 was a bad design, and apparently a lot of people had issues with early PS2s.
and apparently a lot of people had issues with early PS2s.
i had to buy 4 of them, they weren't having problems with just the early ones....besides the fact that i shipped back 2 of them for repairs, so i went thru a total of 6 units

My launch PS2 runs fine.
My launch PSX runs fine, I just have to turn it upside down to play.
My launch PSP still going.
My launch PS3 hasn't shown any problems.

My launch (well, 4 days later) Wii has frozen a few times, and the controller is getting glitchy...

I believe the only Sony product I've had a problem with were cheap $20 headphones.

Everything else, from TVs, speakers, Minidisc players, mp3 players, memory sticks. VAIOs.
Flawless. Used them till I sold them.

It's being published by Take Two, it will end up on PS3 one day. I don't really care since I'm not that interested in it, but it may happen. I'm thinking most of the reason Oblivion came to PS3 is because of Take Two (They are in a very good relationship with Sony afterall).

I wish I shared your confidence :whistle2:( Well, I guess it's not coming out for almost six months, so I'll just reevaluate my options then. By then Microsoft might have a fixed 360 out, or I might have a new PC, or the PS3 version might be announced, etc.
ps1 1997, still works fine
ive had my ps2, since launch works fine
psp since launch works fine
ps3 since launch, work fine
Yup. That's been my experience too with Sony hardware. My PS3 had an audio defect, but other than that, the only Sony hardware that's failed on me was my TV, and that was 8+ years old, and was used probably 8+ hours a day that whole time.

Heck, I even have to use a Sony clock radio, because every other brand of alarm clock I've tried doesn't always work (Westclock, etc.)

I *HATE* how Sony's pulled out of a lot of markets. They made the best Palm OS PDAs (Palm's hardware's a joke in comparison), the best portable telephones, etc.

seriously....do you have the urge to bust out the atari?

i wonder if some 360's are louder than others? mine isnt quiet but it by no means distracts from gaming.
seriously....do you have the urge to bust out the atari?
No, because I have next to no interest in Atari 2600 games. Never did. I do however want access to my NES and PC games from that era.

i wonder if some 360's are louder than others? mine isnt quiet but it by no means distracts from gaming.

I've been trying to figure out if there's a big difference between models or not...not really sure yet. Partially it depends on the person too, and how good their hearing is, etc. (So far there seems to be a correlation between people who listen to heavy metal thinking it's not too loud, not distracting.)

I'm hoping they release a redesigned 360 soon that's quiet and fixes the d-pad on the current controller. I'm not holding my breath though :whistle2:(

I've never had any major problems with gaming hardware reliability, now that I think of it. Except for our Atari 2600 -- it broke at least once and those damn controllers should have been sold in packs like disposable razors.

If it helps, Crysis may be ported to PS3 as well. Crytek is currently looking for a programmer for the PS3 specifically on porting code from one platform to the PS3 on Cell. Check their website.

 and the PS3 is somehow more reliable?

Just find a friend with a 360 and borrow it after Bioshock comes out, the game probably won't take more than a long weekend to beat.

Yeah, I wish they fixed those issues too, because all of that keeps me from touching any multi-platform games on 360 (I'll buy them for PS2 or PS3 instead).

Thanks, but the problem with that is one of the big draws for Crysis is the graphics, and the current-gen systems can't do a straight port of Crysis (although I'm sure it'll still look nice on the PS3, and the gameplay does interest me).
 and the PS3 is somehow more reliable?
Presumably, going by the past track records of both companies and both systems to date.

I already have a 360, and for me at least I'm sure I'll be spending closer to a month with the game. Plus I want to be able to run it 15 years from now.

Keep in mind that Sony, as of late, doesn't seem to want to pay for exclusives. Microsoft has deep pockets and will do anything to keep or gain market share, especially now that the Xbox division isn't hemorrhaging money anymore.

Apples and Oranges. Irrational is owned by Take Two. Bethesda is not. Take Two's stake in Oblivion was solely publishing since it would cripple Bethesda if it tanked. I doubt they have much say over it all. Bethesda isn't stupid enough to skip out on a market, thats why its showing up on PS3.

Take Two has a very good relationship with anyone who pays them.

I'll have to start up a thread some time about that, but in general I'm least impressed by Sony's first party games of the three. I do wonder if we're missing a lot of great games from Japan though (like how they concentrate on Jak and Ratchet and kind of ignore the IMO vastly superior Ape Escape, and didn't even bring the second one here, and left Polopocrois too-have to wonder if there are more great games that don't let us have).

Basically, the original Ape Escape didn't meet SCEA's sales expectations, despite becoming a greatest hit, so they passed up on the sequel. But since they decided to give Ape Escape On The Loose for PSP a go (mostly because they already published the first and they wanted to push the PSP with games), it sold pretty good for a PSP game so they decided to do take on Ape Escape 3 and Ape Escape Academy. Unfortunately, it seems like both didn't sell well at all, so who knows if we see another stateside. However, because Sony Computer Entertainment has put all their studios with SCE Worldwide Studios (or whatever their name is), instead of splitting them up my region (SCEA, SCEE, and SCEI), they seem to be more committed to releasing games in all territories, even if it may not be as popular in a particular reason (like Japan getting Resistance and MotorStorm, U.S. getting SingStar and Formula One CE, etc.).

I hadn't heard about that. That's GREAT news, as all territories should get all or almost all games (even if the actual numbers available differ).

I've gotten the feeling that Sony's been passing up on the stuff *I'd* like from them, and if they were actually releasing it, I'd think more of them as a developer (because right now I'm extremely underwhelmed for the most part).

for what it's worth i've had a sony 35 inch tv since 1994 that i jsut gave away to a family member that NEVER gave me a SINGLE problem. i also bought two sony dvd players in 2001 that still work and never have lost their effectiveness. same goes for my only ps2... come to think of it, ive never had problems with any brand of electronics ever. just lucky, i guess =)
