I cant believe i cant find it anywhere sealed for less than 49.99 , not counting the BB 5$ coupon, i really AM a CAG, i want this game so bad, but cant shell out 50$ for its greatness ;____;
 
Far as I know this game has proven to be very popular. As such I'm sure a sequel will be announced in due time which will lead to a price drop.

Also since it is very popular just wait a few more months and it'll join the Greatest Hits line. I'm sure it eventually will.

Poopie, must learn to type faster or less...
 
A retailer mark down is unlikely for a while... maybe during the end of summer or beginning of fall. It might take even longer as Sony games rarely drop in price unless they become PC titles (so if it drops, my guess is that it'll drop straight to $20).

Until then, you might be able to eBay a used, complete copy for around ~$32.
 
Just wondering, can i use the best buy gamer gift card thing to take off 5$, then use the coupon in the best buy huge ass coupon book for GoD, and get 10$ off?

Probably not. Most coupons can't be used with another. But check both coupons.
 
It's the current hot thing. With only Movie related titles as new releases it's not coming down until some more new hit games get released for the ps2. Look more you can find it for the middle 30's if you try. I'm waiting for 20 myself.
 
I've been waiting on this too...it seems like it will never drop but I'm sure it will. Eventually.

The GCC states it may not be used with any other offers, etc. The other coupon's probably the same. You may get a careless cashier, but it is clear the intent of best buy is not to allow this.
 
I'll sell mine for 20-- the game is dead weight after 10 hours.

I'm sure it will drop-- Think of it as the Devil May Cry of this cycle of games, intensely acclaimed, and therefore selling at a good clip, but after it reaches critical mass with gamers, the price (AND trade-in value) will drop considerably.

Expect it as a GH.

A good 20 dollar purchase, not worth the 50 in my opinion.
 
Yeah...it's the "it" game right now. Why sell for anything less if people are going to buy it at full price?

If you're a true Cheap Ass Gamer, learn to play "behind the curve." I know it, I just can't follow it. It's all about patience. There are always good games to play. Question is, do you want to follow the hype and masses and pay $50 for them, or do you want to be a year behind everyone else and buy them for dirt cheap?

Case in point: San Andreas. That's was an "it" game. You had to have it. Wait a few months, thousands of anxious gamers waiting to get the next "omg u have to have it game" plop their copy of San Andreas up on eBay...the supply outweighs the demand, and you can get it for much cheaper.

Seriously. If you want it cheap, then just wait. Like I said...there are tons and tons of games to play, many just as good as God of War, yet for a fraction of the cost!
 
Killzone needs to drop in price also, it seems the sony games take a while to become a GH. Socom II also took a while to drop to the GH price.
 
Be patient people. It's been out what, 6 months at the most? It's a hot seller, it will be $20 in due time. It will NOT end up like Disgaea, Rez, etc.

Not even, it came out the same week as the PSP, which was March 24th.
 
Just get it out of your head and play one of the other 20 games you have on hand . . . well, I do anyway. Patience is a critical CAG virture.
 
Hell, I'd be happy if Sony would just lower it to the $39.99 price point that all of their published games are supposed to have to begin with.

You may have to wait 6-9 months to see a price drop, but given that it's a Sony-published title, you can bet your bottom dollar that it will go greatest hits eventually. Play some other sale or clearance games while you wait. God of War will be cheap sooner or later.
 
I got tired of waiting, and picked up a good copy from Gamestop during their last buy 2 get 1 free used deal. I hate buying used, but oh, well.

It's a new game wait a few months. This fall it will be $29.99 or less.
 
Unless you want it brand new I would suggest paying close attention to ebay. I got a brand new sealed copy of killzone for $20. If I see anything I will post a link but just keep your eyes peeled.
 
I been waiting for this one to drop too, its definetly on my must buy list. That game should drop to $29.99 before winter or sooner and GH title by early next year.
 
Too bad the GR deals are gone. :( That's how I got mine. Great game. I agree that it has fairly limited replay value. Still, I like the combat mechanics enough to spend a half-hour stringing combos from time to time. Also, I could try tackling God mode if I get really masochistic... The first time I tried it I got slaughtered by the first tutorial battle!

In order to survive god mode - you can pretty much only rely on three different moves. Made the game less fun IMO - I beat it - but it was boring resorting to a handful of moves when I had a cartload to use on enemies during the first run through.

If it sells more than a million copies, which it has, then it will become a greatest hit nine months after it reached this limit. It came out in what, April? It'll be a greatest hits title this winter.

Playstation sent me one for review. ;-)

I'm with you, I was glad I rented it. I beat it in 9 hours play time in just 3 days... the first day I played it for like 6 hours but after that, it was just repetitive and some of the later levels were just stupid (Hades comes into mind). This is definitely a rental or $20 game.

And I'm sure the OP would like to know where this is $30... I thought it was still $50.
 
Has Sly 2 dropped yet? It's been out well over 6 months so I wouldn't hold my breath for GOW to drop any time soon.
 
IMO sony use to be pretty good about the price drops, but over the past 2 years they seem to be slacking... mainly on 1st part titles...

it use to take 6 months to drop a game in price, now it's around 9 months... bleh...

being a CAG means patients is something that needs to be mastered.

I have a feeling this game will be $30 by the beginning of Fall. Possibly a GH title early next year. When all the big titles come out for the holiday season, the current crop of $50 games will make that first drop to $30. Once it's at it will be worth it for $25 with the Best Buy GGC. I'm also still waiting for Tekken 5 and DMC 3 to drop in price also which I think will happen around the same time God of War will drop in price.

Sony goes right from $50 to $20 (greatest hits) with their games... there is no "in between" price.

If stuff like Killzone is STILL $50, don't expect God of War (which did alot better) to drop anytime soon.

I'm still waiting on GH for Sly 2... I think I'll be waiting forever.

No, or at least not that I've seen.

I'm guessing that it'll drop at the same time as GoW, and most likely with a few other first party titles as well. Jak 3 and Ratchet 3 haven't dropped yet, and there are a few series games (Tony Hawk Undergroud 2, NBA Street 3) that are more than likely going to be added but haven't yet.

That said...they just added a few new titles to the series (Burnout 3 and Star Wars: Battlefront) so it's going to be a few months.
