Will I be able to get Amazon credit back for this?

I ordered an item that was supposed to arrive today, but it didn't get here. I know sometimes Amazon can credit you if you don't get your package on the day it says it will be delivered. Especially with Prime. This was a Prime shipped item.

The only problem is, the item was scanned as "Delivery attempted, notice left" when they didn't leave a notice. Because I called the post office and the guy told me they had a lot of packages come in late and they would all arrive tomorrow, so they probably just misscanned it.

If I contact them though, I don't know if they'll take responsibility, because they might look at the tracking and say it was attempted delivery, so technically it should have arrived today as they promised.

 
Two idiotic responses in a row. It's Amazon policy to give partial refund credits if your item does not arrive on time of their "guaranteed delivery date." In fact, CNN recommended to contact them for a partial credit should this happen to you in one of their daily consumer reports on their website in the past week.

Your weird paranoia is what jumped to the asinine conclusion that I wanted the item for free. I said nor implied nothing of the sort.

What I want to know is if they will still give partial credit if the item was misscanned as "delivery attempted" when delivery was never attempted.

No chance if the USPS marked it as delivery attempted.  It's typical of the Post Office; basically they get to go home whenever they finish their rounds so they will hurry it along by not even bringing a large package to the door.  Instead they pretend you were out and just put a slip in your mailbox without even trying to deliver.  I had a mailman that would do that all the time; fortunately he got replaced and the new guy believes in actually doing his job.

 
I contacted them through the chat and they offered to give me back a full refund. I declined and told them I'd wait and see if it arrived tomorrow.

CS told me to contact them tomorrow if that is the case.

It's winter--crazy weather all across the United States. Packages are going to get delayed. Only in a fantasy world should someone get compensation. No amount of credit is worth risking my account status. Sorry.

 
lol my account is not flagged. All I did was contact them and ask them why delivery was marked as "notice left" when I never received any notice. The CS rep looked into it and offered me a refund. I declined the refund.

She told me to contact them tomorrow for further assistance.

That was it.

Being that the weather has been bad, I probably won't contact them about credit. There probably have been delays all over, I guess. Although the weather isn't bad here yet and according to the tracking info it arrived in the city a couple days ago. So I don't know what is going on. As long as I get the item tomorrow I'll be pretty happy, although it's going to be insanely cold tomorrow and the item will be sitting inside my mailbox for half the day, so hope it doesn't break it by the exposure to the elements.

So, I'm confused why you contacted them. You'd be fine with receiving it tomorrow, and you now say that you probably won't contact them about credit being that the weather is bad. Then, you contact them and they offer the money back and you refuse. So, what was the point of this thread?

 
I wasn't fine with receiving it tomorrow at first. The reason I was annoyed was because I won't be home until later tonight and my item will be sitting in the mailbox in freezing conditions for what will most likely be several hours and I don't know if that will cause damage to it. I was expecting my item Monday, as per the guaranteed date on Amazon, and when it never came I was annoyed, because the temps were still decent enough on Monday when my mail came.

But once it was pointed out that the weather has been crazy and I was thinking that this is probably a common occurrence all over the region, then I softened up a bit on that original stance. If the weather does damage the item(Vita memory card) then I'll just return it for a replacement.

I wanted partial credit(if offered... I never demand or ask for it), not a full refund. I'm not dishonest and I wouldn't want the full refund back for an item I may get tomorrow.

The point was to find out through other poster experiences if they issue partial credit on late shipments if the item was scanned as "delivery attempted"

Half of the country is covered in a foot of snow, and because USPS made a small mistake, you want credit back from Amazon? Whether you're in the right of their terms of service or not, this is exactly why we can't have nice things. Somebody made a tiny mistake, be a decent human being and let it go instead of trying to milk every situation.

This has nothing to do with "why we can't have nice things" if Amazon offers to give credit without one's asking. The two aren't even remotely connected at all and there is no logic or basis behind your statement.

It did come today and I managed to get home and find it. Hopefully it was only sitting out for a short time, because the tracking never updated. All's well that ends well.
