Will the DK Bongos ever become rare?

I'm just wondering if anyone thinks Nintendo's DK Bongos will ever become rare like the Samba de Amigo maracas or if they will just collect dust after the novelty wears off. I'm inclined to think they'll never be rare just because of the failure of N64 peripherals such as the microphone (for Hey You, Pikachu) and the GB cart player (for Pokemon Stadium), but you never know.

I think they'll eventually become rare because the game they're supposed to be used for is a niche title that will be skipped over when the AAA games of fall all come out. I'd buy a pair but I got no extra money (homecoming).

No more rare than the game itself. Since they're bundled with the game, unlike the Samba maracas, there will be at least a quarter million of them out in the US market alone. That doesn't count the separate units available from Nintendo and the third party bongos.

There will be plenty in existence for those who care.

Donkey Konga is everywhere right now, and there are more Congas then Games in the US, Samba De Amigo's Maracas were always hard to find, and not included with said game. So the answer is, no, but if you want to hang out with the I'm going to buy it and hope it goes up in value crowd next to the Ikaruga is going to be rare crowd, then have fun waiting and waiting.....

I don't think they will, if only because Nintendo was planning on releasing a DK platformer that uses the bongos as controllers. Don't know if they still are, but if that game ever comes out, the bongo supply will probably increase...

I think they have the potential to become rare but not in the same league as the Samba Maracas. As someone already stated, there is a second game coming out (DK: Jungle Beat) that utilizes them. I don't believe either game will sell as well as people think (which is really a shame IMO). That will keep the number of Bongos on the market low. Retail fire sales of excess stock will temporarily rejuvinate their availability again once the next gen systems launch and then the bongos will die off again.

I'm just happy I have two for my wife and I. Donkey Konga is rediculously fun.

Damn, where did u get ur sig rig? Also, I dont think that the bongos will become rare , but i think they will retain relitivly high value.

I doubt the bongos will ever become rare. I've seen stacks upon stacks of them in Best Buy and the like. It's not like Samba De Amigo where only certain specialty shops only got one or two and never restocked.

I don't think stores like BB or Hollywood Video will be renting this title out because of the bongos and the possibility of them being damaged :( I picked it up today and I doubt they will become rare. It is being used for Donkey Konga and soon to be Jungle Beat.

Are all copies of the game good for all regions? I noticed the game cover itself had French translations on it as well and a separate Spanish booklet in the box. Are all Donkey Konga games like that?

The game I bought and my next door neighbor's version are both like that. Bought at 2 different stores. I don't know about all versions though.

Absolutly not. With the hype the game has? No way. I mean, this is like asking if GunCons or DDR Dance Pads will ever become rare. They may never become cheap, but they will never become rare.

Probably not good for all regions, just "North American" - encompassing not only English speakers, but French (Canadian) and Spanish (Mexico) speakers.

I want to learn how to put in the "region switch" so I can play Japanese games. I've know this modification wasn't just some hack ever since I saw an official debug model with a region switch of its own so I'm comfortable with having it. I'd love to see what sort of songs they have in the JP version(s).

Get the game because you like playing it,not because the prices go up. You have a better chance investing in stocks than games.

Try to find an official DDR pad sold outside of a game bundle and get back to me. (and yes they exist, I found the ONE that was shipped to Chicagoland :D )

They won't become rare, people would have to actually buy the game to do that. No, they'll probably still be in the store you see them at now in a decade or two, collecting dust, bearing the mark of a bankrupt company.

The amount of bongos produced will far exceed consumer demand. I think there value will actually decrease quite a bit over the next year. Nintendo is pushing them (Odama/DK/JungleBeat) just like they did with the e-card reader and gba/gcn connectivity, so expect a lot of surplus.

They might become rare if Nintendo stops releasing games that use the Bongos. I we see more Bongo-based games next year, then they will probably make more of them to ship here. It all depends on the sales, I guess. It wouldn't hurt to keep a sealed Donkey Konga w/Bongo around the house just in case they do become rare.

Typically, you find those bundled with the game...I mean, find me ONE DK Bongo without the game, or ONE GunCon sold by itself. They exist, but I've yet to see one. But they aren't rare at all. Just cause you don't see the standalones doesn't make them rare.

Guncon and Guncon 2 aren't sold seperately. Never have been. And BB by me has piles of Bongos without the game.

You haven't been to Best Buy recently have you? :D

Yes, and I saw none. Jesus christ, do you people live to argue?

Final word: They won't become rare, but they will probably remain pricy. BAM.

Don't get mad twan. You are the one who asked us to find you "ONE DK Bongo without the game." It just so happens that I had just returned home from BestBuy with exactly that in my hand.

Didn't mean to sound mad...I was just sayin'...

It's going to be hard to get rare if the only way to get the game is with the bongos.

Until the unbundle the package it won't be rare, and even still there are so many prints out now WITH the bongos (just like Zelda 4 Swords in big box), that it won't really be that valuable as say Tales of Symphonia in the long run.

I'd love to know who the 15 people are who voted that the bongos will be rare.

opportunity777, Tales of Symphonia is one of the few Gamecube exclusive (for now) games to ever reach the top 10 on the American sales charts. Unless Namco decided to restrict this game from coming PC and stopped producing it right this second, it will not become rare. Think of it as you would "Xenosaga" for PS2.

Why will tales be valuable? I was not impressed by that game at all.

I never got the $70 together that EB was asking for the Sega Maracas, but I did get a set of "Samba Fans" maracas (that are incompatable with Samba 2000) I see the Bongos becoming one of those wierd controllers that won't really take off, but in the end will just be as collectable as the Sega Fishing Rod Controller.

Now If you'll excuse me, I'm going to check eBay to make sure I'm not talking out of my ass on the collectabilty of the Fishing Rod controller.
