As announced on episode 115, it is time once again for the 3rd annual Golden King Awards where the Checkmate Arcade hosts pick what they think was the best in gaming in 2010. If you know us well enough, you can snatch a $20 points card for the console of your choice.
To enter the contest, simply send an email to [email protected] with the subject line contest, and in the following categories, pick what you think Jason and Steven will select as the winner in each category. Entries must be received before the end of 2010, i.e. 11:59 p.m. Eastern time on 12-31-10. Any email after that time will be ineligible. Also picks MUST be sent to our email address. Employees of newbreview.com are ineligible for prizes, but are encouraged to guess our picks also.
An example of how to make your picks:
Best RPG- Jason X, Steven Y
It is VERY important to distinguish your guess for both Jason and Steven, as you get 1 pt. if you guess one of the hosts choices in a category, but 3 pts. if you guess both picks correctly. In the 2 categories only 1 host makes a pick (the handheld system GotY categories) then a correct answer nets you 2 points. There are 17 categories to vote on and a perfect score (which no one has ever gotten) this year is 49 points.
As you can see at the bottom, there are 3 tiebreaker questions of increasing difficulty. You are not required to answer the tiebreaker questions, but they are called tiebreakers for a reason.
The awards show is tentatively scheduled to record around Jan. 2-4 of 2011. Thank you in advance for entering and we hope you enjoy the show enough to start listening regularly. Have a great Holiday season!
