As my colleague expressed a few months ago, I am not sure if this is the designated section for a topic like this. Just wanted to give all the folks at CAG a heads-up that GotNext is featuring another giveaway. This time, 19 lucky winners will be eligible to win some free swag sponsored by Atlus, including a free copy of Puyo Pop Fever for the Nintendo DS.

Entering the contest is simple -- all you need to do is fill out some information. We'll do the rest. Click here for more details. Good luck everyone!
OH HELL NOW THEY ARE REPRINTING SWAG?! WHEN WILL THE MADNESS END?!

BTW - that site has security certificate issues.

Calling it an "issue" really isn't the best phrase for what you may have experienced. I'll break this down for you as explained by our Administrator. GotNext is hosted by Niftytech.net, which is a totally secure website. Essentially, due to hosting quirks, the Administrator needs to move GN to it's own IP address in order to get GN it's own signed certificate. And well, that takes time -- which right now, he doesn't have. However, given that the Administrator has total control over the technical aspects of GN and niftytech.net, He is reasonably assured that this quirk is not a problem He needs to devote the resources of His Crack IT Monkey Horde to solving.

And besides, The Administrator says CAG users have much more to fear from the pr0n sites they surf than from GN or niftytech.net. So don't let that alert self-signature window stop you from going through with the rest of the promotion -- it's 100% safe and secure.

But you're pimping Firefox. You should fix browsing issues before you make suggestions.

Other than that, I dig the site. :)

Wow... that's the first time I had security issues with FireFox and IE.

Staying away from that site until someone says it's ok...

Heh, thanks.

FYI, the only reason why we're "pimping" it as you call it because Firefox it's the general opinion of our team that Firefox is a more resourceful browser that's a lot less prone to security issues, not due to IE incompatibility or browsing issues as you speak of.

In case you happened to selectively skip over the informative post I made a bit earlier this morning, please scroll up. To reiterate, the contest page is secure. I wouldn't be posting here inviting CAG members to participate in our latest promotion if there was a cause for concern. However, if you're totally paranoid, thanks in advance for the potential interest.

I am the admin for Got Next. Please trust me when I say the site is secure - because it is.

The main reason the security is used for the contest form is to protect you - encrypted, secure transmissions won't be intercepted, and your info won't be stolen.

The security "issue" is your browser attempting to tell you that the certificate both belongs to another site (niftytech.net) and is self-signed. It is shared with niftytech since I have not yet gotten the time to move GN to it's own IP address. The browsers see this behavior as insecure, because it normally is - but not really in this case. It is self-signed because Thawt charges $129 and Verisign charges $600 for signed certificates, and I'm not about to pay that much when I can self-sign for nothing.

Bahn and I are telling you the site is secure. GN has been around for more than a year now, and we've not fleeced anyone's grandmother of her life savings, or instigated a run on any banks, or even spammed anyone with V!4gr-/\ ads. GN is as secure as your average Internet shop, except we're not a fly-by-night operation. We won't steal your information. We can't even rip you off, since we don't sell anything.

If you're still concerned, IM me at Lhadatt on AIM.

I, as an end user and a (out of work) developer couldn't agree with you more. IE 7 isn't looking so hot either. It's going to come down to Opera, Firefox, and Safari in the near future.

Thanks for the info Bahn! I actually just sent you a sample of my writing and a cover letter since you posted that you needed some reviewers at 1up.

I'd think twice about lettin' Rich rep your set.

Then again, these kids love free shit, so they'll look past the fact that Rich is with your guys. But to me, it's like a Jew hangin' in a bathroom stall with Hitler just to get some free coke.

Rich sucks and the farther you keep yourself from him the better off you are.
what do they mean by swag?
Promotional stuff.... t-shirts, stuff like that.

I never received it. When was the sample sent? :(
I really want to enter the contest. But I don't want anyone to send me spam or crap mail at my house.
Escobar,

We're not a commericially operated site, so you don't have to worry about us selling your name to advertisers or some silly nonsense like most high-profile companies are known for. Rest assured, once the contest is over, all submissions get deleted from our contest email box, never to be seen or heard from again.

Cute.
I sent it on Friday August 12th. My e-mail is [email protected] So you never got it?
No, sir! I definitely haven't received any new submissions from yahoo.com
If you have an secondary email account, feel free to email what you previously submitted again.
