TrueAchiever Review - TrueAchievements app for WP8! Great for Achievement fans.

New Plants vs. Zombies: garden Warfare Xbox One preview

Amazon has a couple WP8 Go Phone options today as their deal of the day. The 520 is down to $40. Not sure if that's a great price, but seems ok for a cheap backup if you want one.
$40 is great for the 520. So is $55 for the 521. Cheapest the 520 has been before is $50. It's not an excellent gaming phone, but it will get better when Microsoft enables installing games to SD cards next year. Still won't run games that require 1 GB of RAM though.

Sadly, it looks like Amazon ran out of stock on these phones. Maybe they'll refresh later in the day.

Ugh! Retreads that were cheaper not too long ago. No Christmas money for Gameloft from me. Bah humbug!
This is actually the best you can do for Order & Chaos Online, which is an awesome game. But it won't run on 512 MB devices, unfortunately.

Mass Effect Infiltrator is $3.99 on sale. I don't see anything else that went on sale with it though.

Bought myself an iPhone 5 c today. Think I may start trying for achievements on Game Center games. It's not the same but damn what a large selection of games and a lot of free ones. Don't know what I'm going to do with my brick of a windows phone now though.
What model is your non-working Windows phone?

It's a fine cheap phone. Lots of games require 1 gb of ram though (for example in the current Gameloft sale only 4 of the 9 games can be played on a Lumia 520) so you won't be able to play some games since it only has 512mb.
Where do they usually list the requirements for RAM?

I just got a cheap 520. I don't plan on getting too many games. But in case I do, where are the required specs typically listed?

You have to go to WindowsPhone.com and search for the game there to see the specs. I usually don't bother though. Temple Run 2 for example, is not listed as requiring 1GB of RAM. If you search for a game on your 512MB phone and can't find it then it needs 1GB of RAM. As an owner of a 521, I really am not very bothered about the handful of games my phone can't run. Other than the Batman game, Order & Chaos, and Chaos Rings the rest of the games are of marginal interest to me. I have 40+ games on my phone, so I am not exactly hurting for games to play on the go.

Sounds good.

I was going to recommend it to someone looking for a cheap phone but wanted some opinions on it first.

Gives me hope that maybe XBL isn't quite dead on WP.  Although it takes awhile for games to work their way down the pipeline to release so who knows.  I'll definitely be picking it up.

no it doesn't stop taking you to review page.. I originally gave it a good review but after a while the taking me to review page got annoying so I changed review accordingly
Same here. I'm guessing that a screen is supposed to pop up saying something like "would you like to write a review?" with replies "yes" and "not now", but something went wrong.

Might have to pick up Rabbids Big Bang, but the achievements look like they were designed to troll. Hopefully they are easy.

I'll probably never get my wife's Lumia 920 fixed, but I just ordered her a "new" one last night for what I would like to think is less money than repairs would cost.  Looks like I'll probably be coming by here a bit more often now.  I haven't really had much reason to frequent the thread since I can't download games on my phone and I can't remember the last time they released a game for WP7 anyway.

So I can get a new phone next week finally, out of the two Sprint phones (8XT and ATIV S Neo) is there one that is better? Or are they both good choices?

I recall the ATIV S Neo being way better. I think the 8XT only has like 8GB built in storage, meaning only about 4-5 usable Gigs.

Hmmm alright, yeah looking them over the 8XT has 8GB and the ATIV has 16GB. The 8XT can be got free right now while the ATIV would be $50, I thought I heard somewhere that the 8XT was better when it came to getting Windows 8.1 and HTC is a bit better at updating their Windows Phones over Samsung, but that might be wrong.

This might be a horribly stupid question, but do you need to have a service contract to pay and download games or would it be possible over wifi without service?

You can do it without contract. You can even sideload the games onto the phone yourself if you have a model with a removable SD card and wifi isn't an option.

Although you do need a wifi/data connection to activate/install the software. I used this option to get around out of memory issues when Halo Spartan Assault came out.

Yeah, if you plan to install games or apps, the device with 16 GB of storage (not RAM, Tyler!) is the way to go. 8 GB (with only like 5 GB available to the user) will limit you to tiny apps and nothing else.

Wow, very interesting. I may actually bite on this one.

BTW, Microsoft Bingo is coming out soon for Win8.
A friend tells me Bingo is super buggy. We'll see!

I played one quick game. Although I had to try a couple of times to connect to LIVE successfully, I didn't run into any other bugs. You can try it yourself if you want. You'll have to switch your region to Canada to find the game first.

I feel like I should be complaining about my hip and eating Tapioca pudding while I play this game. Maybe that's DLC. :)

After a period of semi-drought of WP games I find this avalanche of new games a bit overwhelming. I honestly don't know what to play now because of the choices. Achievements are no cake walk either. Win 1000 games of Solitaire? Yikes!

A new Minesweeper achievement:

"Win a game on any difficulty while holding the phone so that the screen is facing the ground."

WTF!!

Bought Asphalt 8 with plenty of room, and it still says not enough clear space, won't install.  Has anyone else had this problem?
