Why do I have this feeling that updating Angry Birds Space reset my block totals? I still have that ridiculous achievement to destroy 500,000 blocks to grind.

 
I'm pretty sure that is one of the achievements that turned me away from getting all gamerscore in all Angry Birds games. 250,000 blocks smashed in Angry Birds felt like forever. Especially with no way to tell if anything you are doing is actually counting or if it reset. Finished Angry Birds, Classic, and Seasons. Space was next. Maybe I'll rent a small child to play it for hours until it unlocks.

I would've totally given up on Space if I hadn't completed the other 5 WP games. So this is what is keeping me from having a clean sweep. At least -theoretically- it's not as bad as Classic where you have to 3-star a million levels.

I don't recall having to smash 250,000 blocks in any of the other games, so I have no idea which game you're talking about.

Why would anyone need 6 angry bird games on their phone anyway? Apparently I felt the need to. I wish other games got this much support on WP.

My wife and I are on the same plan and she got the 8.1 update for her 1520. I'm still rocking the original on my 1020

I remember getting Mush a long time ago on my WP7 and it was enjoyable, but I never finished it. Should go back to that one........

 
The latest WP8 AT&T update that added Cortana broke a few of my games so they won't even load anymore and stay at a black screen (Kinectimals and FIFA off the top of my head). It also won't allow me to view desktop versions of any webpage even though there is a setting to choose between desktop and mobile. It always load mobile regardless of the setting. I hate mobile site versions since they take one desktop page and spread it out over 11 mobile pages. Hope this gets fixed and the games become playable again.

At this point I'm kind of glad the update hasn't rolled out to my phone yet. I think I've heard more negative changes about the update than positive ones. Are hubs still gone? Or was that only the developer release? If my games are going to just be thrown in with my other apps, and if I can't load desktop versions of websites I may just skip the update entirely. These are pretty much dealbreakers for me.

 
Desktop version of sites vary from site to site. For example YouTube, you have to manually switch it to desktop version from the site. CheapAssGamer, you do not. I think this is by site choice, not having to do with the update. Once you change it once, it will stay until you change it back.

Your games are now going to be thrown in with your other apps. You'll get used to it, although you may get more conservative about how many games you download. I try to stay away from free crap now instead of giving everything a try.

If your games aren't starting, try restarting your phone. If that doesn't work, either wait for an update or re-install the app. I think you will lose saved data though. I haven't had any problems with the games mentioned (or any games) outside of the usual crashing in Angry Birds Epic at the end of a 13 wave level  just as the last enemy dies and Fairway Solitaire when at the last hole, only 1 shot away from getting 3 stars, with 10 draws remaining. Luckily these crashes tend to only happen after a few hours of playing.

The mobile only for sites is a weird thing, since it always allowed me to view desktop versions just fine before the update. Now even when I change the phone settings to always desktop it still never does. On sites that allow you to view the desktop version via a link, I click on it, it loads the desktop version, BUT as soon as I click on any link on that site, it immediately goes back to the mobile version and stays mobile. Very frustrating.

Tried deleting and redownloading the games that won't load, and still no luck. Tried completely restarting the phone, etc to no avail. Nothing I'll miss terribly, but it's more of the principle.

Yes, the games got lumped individually into your Apps section, instead of more conveniently being only in the games hub. Makes scrolling through the Apps list longer and more cluttered.

I liked my phone much better before the update, but I don't want to factory reset it. I have a Lumia 1520 under AT&T, so maybe other phones have different results.

I actually have the opposite issue with mobile/desktop sites. When I change the phone setting to always desktop I can see desktop versions fine but clicking links on a webpage to go to desktop while I'm on a mobile site does nothing. I'm on a 520 and also think 8.1 is a step backwards. Everything is slower now on my phone (especially IE), they made some very dumb design choices, and my battery life has gone down. I've been getting ready to abandon WP anyways but 8.1 has definitely sealed the deal.

Yeah I'm currently on ATT and my contract is up in Nov. This year I moved to SW Florida and reception is significantly worse than where I was living in Tulsa. Everyone says Verizon is pretty much the only choice around here. Unless anything amazing happens on the WP front between now and then I'm almost certainly switching to android.

I like that you can now see your creations, but the energy system is terrible. You can pay 200 energy for enough power to make 10-20 things. However if you make something when you have no power left, it costs 50-100 energy to be able to use that creation. Maybe more when you unlock higher level elements. Wish I had known that before crafting a ton of things with no energy left. Thought the 10-20 would've applied to previous locked creations as well.

Wow, thanks for this. I was just about to get Galaxy S5s for my wife and I. Much like freeni I'm looking to switch to Verizon. I had Boost in Atlanta which was great, but Sprint's coverage where I am now is terrible. I was considering the Nokia Icon in order to get a windows phone, but I wasn't sold on it since it will be hard to give up Android. Considering how much I was gonna miss my HTC One SV, this might sway me over to a Windows phone...

There's some chatter about a possible dual boot situation on XDA but it's all speculation and nothing concrete yet. I would be on board for that but I don't think I'm ready to go 100% WP yet.

As for why I even check this thread when I don't own a WP or Surface, I'm one of the rare breed of desktop Win 8 users that will occasionally buy something in the Win 8 app store, but more likely just grab the free stuff there. :p

 
Btw, who here is still sending Kinectimals Unleashed gems? Since I can only send 3 a day I want to make sure to send them to those who:

 A) still need them

 B) are taking the time to send them to me

I haven't been able to launch Kinectimals Unleashed since the new WP update makes some of my games not work. I had been sending gems out daily before that even though I already finished the game. The Win8 version takes way too long to load for me to waste time doing it.

It's stupid that this is one of the only freemium games that doesn't tell you who gifted you an item, thus causing leeching of gems.

 
I was sending kinectimals gems to both of you still, but I haven't logged into the game in about a week. I just got tired of grinding Frisbees and catch to level up over and over. I may return to it next week.

Yeah, sorry I can't send gems anymore. I was actually still playing the game after completing it too, so disappointed it broke.

Best way to slow grind XP is just do the Pack Challenge daily with at least 5 friends. XP bonus goes up a lot the higher your level. Saving up gems is more important than gaining XP though.

So I thought I'd ask this here since I couldn't find an answer online. I recently went on a gaming binge on my surface. I started up Rabbids Big Bang and the new Tentacles game and unlocked a bunch of achievements for both. They show unlocked in the game but not on my profile online. Any way to force the surface to sync the achievements?

Have you tried looking on Smartglass? If you're signed in on the tablet it should sync eventually.
 
Yeah it says I am signed in. They are unlocked in game, got the popup and everything, yet the games hub still shows them as locked. No clue. I unlocked another few tonight and they still aren't showing. I know I am connected because my cloud saves work for Tentacles. It's kind of ticking me off.

Make sure your date/time are correct on your tablet.

A recent update broke all the achievements on Rabbids Big Bang. It won't connect to Live, so the achievements never sync. The devs are aware of the problem and might fix it since the same glitch also broke the microtransactions. Not sure about Tentacles, but maybe it's a similar issue.

 
Hmm thanks for that. I figured out it wasn't my surface last night by unlocking an achievement in Snap Attack with no problem. So for some reason I was able to unlock 2 in Tentacles the day it came out, but none since. Yet my cloud saves still work. Oh well. Here's hoping for a fix soon.

I saw it a few days ago and was going to post it, but didn't bother considering the level of indifference and quality of games involved. Several of them are half broken and were never patched. I think the sale started last Thursday, so most likely will end tomorrow.

I stupidly purchased The Dark Knight Rises for $2.99 and saw it takes a whopping 1.7 GB on my phone. Guess I'll try to speed run through it so I can delete it.

 
A bunch of paid Disney apps are free for the next couple of weeks in the Windows 8 store. I'm not sure about Windows Phone. I'd post links and a list but I'm about to run out the door.

 
I haven't received any yet. Isn't the Nokia Lumia 521 supposed to be getting the officially 8.1 update with Cortana? I've been "patiently" waiting. :(

 
Rabbids Big Bang (Win8) finally got patched today, so you can once again earn achievements on it. Mine showed up on my gamercard after loading it up post update.

If you don't have your system set to auto-update, go to the Store and in the upper right corner should be a link showing all available updates.

Actually it got patched a few days ago. I earned an achievement for it last Sunday.

Speaking of Big Bang, I've had an update waiting to be applied on my phone for a few days now. I am scared to apply it in case it rests my progress (a 'la Tetris blitz). Has anyone applied the update on WP to see what happens? If it improves the controls then it's worth the risk.

 
Read some positive things about 4 Elements, bought it, then saw a bunch of reviews saying it doesn't work with Windows 8.1

I'll try it and edit this post after the fooseball game

EDIT: Played a couple levels and didn't have any problems. I did make the mistake of putting in Rodgers over Wilson. There is still some time left for him to pass up Wilson in points though. I should have trusted Cortana.
