Good stuff on that Loondon article Paul.

I don't understand why the GeoDefense creators have such a tough time with difficulty curves in their games. There must be only 1 or 2 specific strategies for each level that will result in being able to perfect it on Hardcore mode.

I'm just starting the medium levels and I can get through the first 85% of the waves just fine, then for some reason enemies start sneaking through. I'm probably just gonna bump it down to Novice mode and sail through the game like I did with the first one...

^Great catch, I'll pick it up shortly. I too have been waiting forever, I believe it was on sale once right at the beginning of DotW for WP, but a lot of us didn't have a WP at that point.

Wonder if this is the DotW or a price drop. Also, they just recently added avatar awards which just sweetens the pot more.

EDIT: It's DotW. Also, Babel Rising is the new game this week. I'll buy it for a buck, but probably pass if it's $3 or more. I couldn't justify $5 for the XBLA version.

EDIT 2: Babel Rising is available. $2.99.

There must be something good in the water up in Redmond as of late, since DotW returned in early September I've purchased all 6 DotW games. 5 of them have been first time sales, with Rocket Riot being the only repeat, but a great repeat for most.

Whatever is going on up there, I hope it stays this way for a while. Xbox Live Arcade has actually seen quite a few awesome sales of recent as well, actually.
Extraction: Project Outbreak review is live

And Tyler, did you end up digging Fusion: Sentient? I thought you had buyer's remorse.
I've only played a couple levels. It's not bad yet, but it's not great either. I need to spend more time with it, but games that I like way more (like Let's Golf, Little Acorns, and now Rocket Riot) keep getting in the way.

Anyone know if Little Acorns is a permanent drop or temporary? I know it's only a dollar atm, but with the space on my phone dwindling and no ability to back up apps/games to an external source like my PC I'm getting more and more apprehensive about these purchases (fearing that games I've previously purchased will be delisted and therefore unable to be downloaded again if I decided to delete them off my phone, Twin Blades, anyone?). Plus, I've played a little bit of the demo, it seems fun, but I'm not sure it can keep my attention.

I don't mean to complain, I love the Windows Phone platform, but I would also love to have some redundancy as far as being able to back up the data on my phone. :(

I think it's probably a price drop.

Dammit! I bought so many games I ran out of space on my HTC Titan! What idiot decided to make a smartphone without any expandable memory? UGH!

I'm in the same boat and I'm at the point where I don't know if I can delete anything else to make more room on my phone. Bleh. According to AppDeals, Little Acorns is a temporary sale, but we can't say for sure.

Must be the same idiot who designed the Samsung Focus Flash.

Does anyone know if your game purchases are going to be transferable when upgrading to a new phone? Will we be able to re-download games that we had purchased in the past (meaning they are tied to your account, like your XBL purchases on the 360)? Would like to move to one of the new Win8 phones when Verizon finally hops on board, but didn't wan to lose everything.

I'd like to know this as well, I know I've re-downloaded games and it's known that I've bought them before, but was this phone or account based ?

I'm guessing account as I think they show up against your list of purchases in your Live account I believe.

WP purchases are tied to your account, and (of course) you can redownload them on new devices, including WP8 phones. The only things you could lose are games that get delisted. Oh, and your save files since Microsoft still hasn't implemented a way to back up or transfer saves.

It is account based.

Your Windows Phone Marketplaces purchases are tracked the same as Xbox Marketplace purchases. Your Purchase History is available online, same as on xbox.com.

Purchased games can easily be re-downloaded to a different phone as long as your LIVE account is on it. Game progress / save data however is another story.

Save file thing doesn't surprise me, I'm never going to finish PQ2 in time :)
I am thankful that my Focus has the expandable storage, or I would be in the same boat. ;)
I must say that I've been very happy with my Focus, after 2 years of constant use it's still working great, the battery still lasts a decent amount of time and it's made me consider expandable storage a must have (so no 920 for me  ).

In comparison the Iphone I had before it was nearly dead after 2 years.

Yes, but if you didn't purchase a SD card alongside your Focus (as I didn't) aren't you pretty much in the same boat of having to wipe the phone and lose your save data to make the storage available? To my understanding that's how it works, and I've never put a card in my Focus because of it. Doesn't bother me a whole lot, as I usually remove games after I get the full 200 GS, and any that I actually enjoy well enough to play through again should be one that I enjoy enough to play from the beginning. (This was the case with PQ2 after I reinstalled it. Didn't mind starting over.)

Great, thanks to everyone for confirming that it is account based. I had assumed that it was that way but someone I was in party chat with recently was insistent that you could not re-download games on a new device. Maybe he was thinking about the save file issue?

Yes, you have to wipe the whole device if you install a new SD card in the Samsung Focus. I'm also in the habit of deleting games after I finish them, so I've never actually filled up the 22 GB (with card) on my Focus. 32 GB on the Lumia 920 will be fine for me.

Glock, your friend was definitely mistaken, so maybe that's what he was thinking of.

Angry birds star wars is coming to windows phone and windows 8 PC soon. As per the true achievements newsletter in my email.

Hopefully it's playable on wp7. Not that I'm an angry birds fan, but it's star wars, lol.

^Sweet. I never ended up buying it for some reason (I think it came out around the time a bunch of games dropped to $1) so I'll definitely buy it now.

DotW going strong!!!

Also, the Surface price reveal was a little high for my tastes. Plus my laptop is starting to make really funny noises, so I think I'm going to need to replace it soon. Guess I'll be waiting a little while before getting a Surface.

I'd consider Civ Rev for a dollar, but I'll pass on the current deal. It's a fun game, but I think I would get tired of playing it on my phone.

The Surface is actually cheaper than I expected. Still way too expensive for me, though.

Also, did Nokia announce something of significance today? Their stock shot up by 14 cents today for no reason that I can discern.

Also, I don't believe the same thing applies to other Marketplace items like music. I had a bad download and there was no way to download again. I ended up just getting a refund, but I now use Amazon for music DLs instead of Zune.

still debating on whether or not to get Rocket Riot. Tried the demo, seems repetitive and am unsure if it has anything better to offer aside from what is in the demo. Might be the first game I don't buy as DoTW and just noticed Civ Rev is already up on sale as well.

^I beat it already, it's slightly repetitive. It's only 48 levels though so it's not too hard to blaze through in a couple hours. Plus avatar awards make it nicer. I found it much easier than the XBLA version, if you've ever played that.

The GPS location thing works much better, which is nice. But I've pretty much unlocked every achievement that doesn't involve crazy amounts of grinding, so I think I'm done with the game anyway.

Anyone know how the WP7 version of Civ Rev compares to the iOS one? It looks like that one got an update with more scenarios back in June.
They're just timed exclusives, right? It might be fun to have Connect 4 when we're on long car rides or on vacation.
Ya I'm pretty sure everything is timed. That being said, maybe the rest of us will see Mirror's Edge soon since it's been out on Nokia phones for a couple months now.

Also I don't care too much about the exclusives, especially when they're asking $2.99 for Connect 4.

Based on playing the demo and what I have read online, Connect 4 is terrible. It has some bewilderingly long load times and slowdown for a game so simple. It's one freakin' screen the entire game and they can't make it load instantly?

It would be a questionable purchase for $0.99, but for $2.99 it's definitely not worth it.

It looks like Zombies!!! is the DOTW, unless I missed a price drop recently. The game was $4.99 right? It is now $2.99.

Well spotted, will demo.
