Looks like Glyder: Adventure Worlds got a price drop. Now only $0.99!

Edit: My smartphone is stupid.

Trying to buy Carcassonne but I keep getting marketplace error c101a006

Edit: for anyone experiencing this, don't use the in-game link from the trial to purchase. Just go to the marketplace and find it. That's what I had to do.
It looks like Zombies!!! is the DOTW, unless I missed a price drop recently. The game was $4.99 right? It is now $2.99.
Sweet. I won a code for the DLC for Zombies!!! a while ago but never actually had the game. Now I can buy the game and have both! :)

Had a feeling we might see a deal on this game for Halloween.

Glyder has been $0.99 for quite a while now actually.

lol you're right. 6 months ago! I wonder why my phone marketplace is advertising it as a recent price drop.

^Nice catch man, I'll check out the demo. Wonder if this is a price drop, or maybe a sale related to the fact that it was just released on iOS and currently on sale there, and received a new but apparently broken patch.

EDIT: Game plays silky smooth, but a good shmup player, EastX, only got 8 out of 20 achievements. I'm not sure if I'd get very far in the game. And it kind of sucks that the newly implemented easy mode disables achievements. I'll definitely wait and see if this is a price drop or sale.

Yeah, I do not expect to get many achievements, but figured i would jump on two dollars off. So far fun game, but I suck at shmups.

Oh wow, wonder if this is an early DotW price drop, seems possible since we just got Civ Rev a couple weeks ago.

That probably is the DOTW - Microsoft hasn't been telling us till Tuesday morning or so lately.

Anybody excited by the Windows Phone 8 news and stuff today? I'm disappointed that AT & T still won't announce their WP8 prices. As far as I can tell, there won't be any WP8 Xbox Live games at launch. That is silly, but it should ease the pain for those who have to wait for contracts to expire.

Also, please check out the new look of WPCentral! The Games tab is currently MIA (much to my chagrin), but it'll be back soon. Would love to hear feedback on the look, though I'm not responsible for it or anything.

To be honest I haven't been following news on WP8 much at all. At the earliest I'll only be getting one next summer sometime, and that's ONLY if Sprint plays ball. So I don't really like to tempt myself with things I can't have.

New look for WP Central isn't too bad, I like the idea of giving it the metro/tiles style. I think the top is a little cluttered with the Mobile Nations row of options, then the Windows Phone Central row, then the Shop Online row. I'd also like to see the lines that separate each post be a little bit bolder and noticeable. Just my 2 cents.

I think the new WPC is fine for the most part; I just don't like that everything is bigger and more colorful. The colors are nice, but it's all too distracting. And I don't like the extra scrolling. Not only that, but a lot of the front-page images suffer from quality loss because of the larger sizes (especially "From The Forums"). And I agree that it's a bit cluttered, especially with those big pictures near the top, above "Headlines" (I always think that's one of the biggest mistakes that news blogs make in their designs). It was much, much nicer when only one image was shown at a time and it just cycled through them. Also, it's harder for me to tell when one article ends and another begins. Before, you guys had a nice blue divider between each one and now there's just a gray line and some little icons that I didn't even notice until looking back for the third time. An even bigger culprit here is the decision to lead with header images instead of the headlines. It makes it seem like (at least to me) that each header image actually belongs to the article above, which causes some confusion.

I also don't like the Previous Story/Next Story at the end of every article. It's a good idea, but I think it's too large and awkward. I personally think it would be better if this could be made smaller and also be made to stand out from the rest of the text on the page (perhaps even use small images specific to each story or at least the story's category). One thing I do like is that clicking on header images on the front page actually takes me to the related articles. It always drove me crazy that they were hotlinked to the image URL! Anyway, that's my input for now. I really don't mean to seem so negative. The site is still great and, as much as I dislike unnecessary changes, it's great that you guys want to update everything in line with the evolution of Windows Phone. And I also know firsthand what a pain it is to do all of the coding and scripting for a large-scale web site, so kudos to whoever has been working on that. I'm probably too crotchety and nitpicky for my own good.

Oh, and as far was WP8 goes, I didn't think anything was particularly exciting because we basically already knew what to expect, but it was nice to get a bit more info on Kid's Corner, although an in-depth evaluation would be nice. This feature is a must-have for parents and I'm concerned the Microsoft didn't quite get it right. I'm currently reading the WP8 review and enjoying it so far. It's helping me stay excited about WP8 even though I won't be able to get it for another year or so.

Off topic I know...but I can't seem to find any definitive answer for this question. Is the WP8 store and Windows 8 Store going to be the same or interchangeable? There are some games I want to buy for Windows 8, but only if I can use the same app on my future WP8. For example, I don't want to spend $4.99 on Angry Birds Space now and then spend another $x.xx on it for WP8. Am I correct in assuming that the Windows 8 store apps are able to be installed on the Surface RT? If so, shouldn't they be able to be installed on a WP8 phone since most of the apps state they are ARM compatible?

Quick question, I know this has happened to some people before. In game achievements for Zombies!!! shows 200 gamerscore, but my Live profile only lists 190. It looks like one didn't register when it unlocked. Is there an easy fix for this?

Also I have to say that Zombies!!! is totally my favorite game purchase so far.

AFAIK they WILL be separate. So you will have to buy Angry Birds twice.

Think of it this way. In Apple's ecosystem you buy one app for the iPhone and iPad, and then another for Mac. In MS ecosystem you buy one app for Windows RT and Windows 8 and then one for WP8. Make sense?

Very happy to see some major players joining the WP8 gamefront. I ended up not being too big on WP7, but WP8 changes a lot. Temple Run, Angry Birds in Space (and Star Wars), JetPAck Joyride, Cut the Rope, Where's my Water, etc.
Also, the new game this week is another hunting game and it's going to be $2.99

EastX I can't get your Carcassone review to open.
That's weird. I checked the link from here and it opens fine. Did you try doing it from the main site?
That's weird. I checked the link from here and it opens fine. Did you try doing it from the main site?
Yeah, both from your link, and the main site. In both IE and Chrome. IE just doesn't load and Chrome tells me the page has a redirect loop or something. Cleared my temp filed and tried again and still can't get it to open. Weird, every other page on WPCentral opens fine for me.

Maybe I'm just destined to not know what you thought about Carcassone.

Very odd. Told my bosses but I don't know if there's anything they can do since nobody else is experiencing the problem. Tyler, you could try visiting it through the phone app too.

I've got 150/200 in Big Buck Hunter Pro already. it's a fun game but the hit detection is terrible, which holds it back and makes some of the Achievements harder than they need to be. Will play it more and have a review next week.
Odd. And it's only that one article?
Yup. This is the screen that pops up when I try to open the Carcassone review. Every other tab you can see loaded WPCentral just fine.

Haha no big deal, I'll check out the mobile version, didn't even think of that.

I've only tried from my phone but I can't get the page to open either. Neither from the link or the mobile site. Just says we're having trouble displaying the page.

I'm also unable to open the Carcassonne review.

I far from awesome, but it is fun. Will probably actually buy the dlc for it.

If you are having trouble against the CPU opponents try playing against Steve and Jason. They seem the easiest.

I absolutely love this game. It's the first WP game I liked enough to buy the PDLC for and it is totally worth it. I'm putting the board game on my Christmas list ;)

Thanks for the tip!

That review link also won't work for me in Firefox. It says, "Firefox has detected that the server is redirecting the request for this address in a way that will never complete."

Hmm, sounds like they're having some kind of global redirect issue with Drupal on that page for whatever reason. The page loads just fine for me, but I do get this error message at the top of the article in Firefox 3.6.26:
Oops, looks like this request tried to create an infinite loop. We do not allow such things here. We are a professional website!

Also...I'm not sure if it was mentioned on WPC or not, but Parcel Tracker is back!

Decided to pick up Pirates!....I use to love playing this game and I have a prepaid card with just over 2 bucks on it so this will let me use that up while getting a game that I enjoy.

EDIT: Or not, as I say that my phone gives me an error....I'll try again later I guess.

Bought the new hunting game. I like it a lot more then he other one but seems impossible to get 100% on some of those mini games. Especially the dove and duck ones. Only got 100% on the cow pie and bottle one. Got close with the frog and gopher one a few times but always miss one or two.

so, is angry birds star wars for just windows phone 8 or 7 get chewbacca goodness too?

Not that I care that much, but it is intriguing

the new windows phones look amazing. hopefully they give sprint some love too. i really don't want to switch providers, and i get a nice discount from sprint with my employer.

It's actually Sprint that needs to give WP8 some love. But there have been rumors of at least one WP8 phone coming to Sprint sometime next year.
Gonna try out Pirates! tonight to see if I want it. Here's hoping the DotW pops up early today!!!
For some reason I can't get the demo to install on my phone.
Don't get your hopes up too high...

Earthworm Jim is the Deal of the Week

The much better news:

The Lumia 920 launches at AT & T for $99 this Friday

Once again, this begs the question: why the heck is anyone on Sprint instead of AT & T?
Earthworm Jim, yuck! I wouldn't pay more than $0.99 for that. But it's the first crappy DotW we've had in a while, so it's OK.

I still think Sprint is the cheapest service provider by a wide margin. Their phones just suck.

Also, any word on whether the DoDonpachi price drop is a sale or not? I also saw that they pushed out an update for it.

Sure, but is saving $10 or $15 a month worth not having access to the phone you want, which would likely be cheaper at AT & T even if they did both offer it? These things sell for $600 off-contract, after all.

Checking with MS on the Dodonpachi question, but no answer yet.

We have a post on this week's Xbox Live release coming up. If I'm away when it goes live, please post it here for me, good buddy. :)

Eastx, any news on Ativ-S on-contract pricing at AT&T?

If not, care to give us an educated guess ?

It's definitely a give and take situation. If I wasn't part of a 5 person family plan I might be more likely to move to AT&T as well. Thanks for checking on DoDonpachi, maybe I should just buy it considering it's $11.99 on iOS and since this week's DotW is so lame.

Has anything been done with the load times for Pirates since it was released? It was one of my favorite games from back in the day, but the long load times on WP were a deal breaker for me especially considering the amount of times you have to switch back and forth between game modes and mini games.
