Wisdom teeth

Funny you ask, I actually had mine taken out today. Wasn't bad at all, I didn't get knocked out, and I feel great. A little pain but nothing I cant handle.
 
I have to get mine taken out later this month. They're starting to push on my other teeth and mess up all the work the braces did. They're almost all the way in, too! AAARRRGGGHHH!!!!!
 
I've got mine. Though the orthodontist said my my was extremely large for my size, and I was unlikely to ever have a problem with my wisdom teeth. It's strange, my mouth doesn't look that way on the outside, but inside I guess I have a larger mouth than most.
 
Ive got mine. im cursed to keep them too. I have had them sceduled to be taken out five times now. they are killing me. Everyttime Im right about to have them out I have to switch insurnace companies. Damn you dental God! Why do you contuine to torture me!
 
I had mine taken out a couple of months ago. My dentist used the novacaine instead of knocking me out...it didn't hurt at all at first but wait. Constant headaches are the worst and waking up to pain ](*,) It took about 2 weeks for the damn headaches to stop
 
nope but i've only had mine for 4 years. i only have 3 though, according to xrays, my fourth grew sideways and is fine where it is.
 
I still have mine, won't get 'em removed no matter what the dentist says until it starts causing me bad pain or something.

I've had enough surgery, thanks.
 
I got all four of mine removed over the summer. They were impacted and was going to push into my other teeth if I didn't get them removed. It wasn't bad at all. If your wisdom teeth are bothering you, get them taken out ASAP. The younger you are, the better it is for you.
 
There isn't really any pain. Just take the med they prescribe you before the surgey and you should be fine. The only pain I felt was the needle they use to numb your gum and that was only like 2 seconds of pain. The worst part was the sound. I was awake during the surgey and I heard everything. It was the sound of them yanking and pulling on your teeth. It was very horrible, you can hear your bone crunch like potato chips.

Oh yes you should take them out. They might cause you some jaw problem in the future and they longer you wait the harder it will be to get them remove.

The only pain I felt was when the dentist ripped out one of the teeth. I didn't even take my vicodin.

Didn't the sound bother you? See my dentist have to twist and turn to get my teeth out, but yeah the actually pain is nothing its just the mental pain. CRUNCH!

They drilled through my tooth, then pulled it out with pliers. The sound didn't bother me, but the pain and massive blood loss did.
 
still have mine and i need them pulled [ i had braces and now my teeth are getting pushed around ].

luckily i only have a bottom set [ go evolution! ]

i did. 6 shots in the corner of my gums, and 4 in the roof of my mouth. Still didn't stop the pain.

Really? I got two for each wisdom tooth and after that they left me in the room for like 10 mins and came back when my whole bottom jaw felt numb. LOL part of my tonuge was numb too. Morbid are you sure they didn't inject you with kool-aid or something? :lol:

Really? I got two for each wisdom tooth and after that they left me in the room for like 10 mins and came back when my whole bottom jaw felt numb. LOL part of my tonuge was numb too. Morbid are you sure they didn't inject you with kool-aid or something? :lol:[/quote]

:rofl: Yes I am sure. I was numb as hell. But it didn't stop the pain. I opened my mouth in the bathroom and blood poured out. It was like a scene out of a horror movie!
 
I had mine out two years ago (when I was 18).
All four were impacted so I had all of them out at once.
They put me under for it, so I blinked and was like "so doc how long this gonna take?"
Doc: "Already done!"
Me: "damn that was fast you should get the fastest dentist award!" -me still drugged...
I tied ice bags to my face with a towel and watched movies all day... not too bad... yay for vicoden!
I even went to Carl's Junior the next day! (still drugged)

WTF thats gross! Maybe its just your dentist Morbid. See I just drool alot after the surgey because my whole jaw was numb.
 
I got all mine out...

The first two were fine. The dentist removed the upper and lower on one side so he only had to numb that side of my mouth.

The third one was a little painful because didn't think that my mouth was numb yet so I was literally leaning off the chair.

The last one I had to go to an oral surgeon because it grew perpendicular to the rest of my teeth. It lwas literally inside the gums. I had to be put to sleep for that one. I kinda still remember it all...he injected something in my arm and it kinda had a burning sensation. I think in 30 seconds I was out because I couldn't remember anything after that.

When I woke up, I had this thing over my head holding an ice pack to my mouth and feeling a little woozy. It was difficult for me to walk. I still remember strangers in the elevator helping my mom guide me off the elevator and to the car.

I just started having my 1st one come in, damn and i worried about having to have them out. Can't they put you to sleep for the whole procedure?
 
my teacher broke his from eating a cracker.... lets just say he can't talk to us right now and we watch movies every day.
 
the dentist can really tell you if you need them taken out. I had mine taken out cuz there wasn't any room for them... and my dentist showed me on the xray and really the thing was trying to grow almost horozontly instead of vertically.... but hubby kept his cuz he got two mollars pulled whne he was little so he had the room. Also, some dentists will tell you you need it done just for the money so make certain it's a good dentist.... like one of my dentists said 1. i should pull this tooth because it MAY fall out in the next 20 years... we should pull and put in an implant and 2. we should break your jaw and reset it cuz that would fix your TMJ (if you look this practice up it has like a 5% success rate).... my second opinion was this guy is a quack after money... so make certain it's not a quack
 
Thanks for the feedbacks guys and gals. I'm still going to think more about if i should or shouldn't get them taken out. My wisdom teeths aren't hurting me so I probably won't take them out. :D
 
I've been able to feel my top ones through my gums for about 4 years now. It really makes me wonder what the hell they are doing. I'd rather not have to get cut open to have them removed.
 
I had to get mine taken a few years ago because they were becomming impacted. I actually only had three. The Dentist said that it's more and more common for pople wo have only two or three wisdom teeth.

But this reminds me that probably later this year I'm going to hgave to get an implant. I still have a baby tooth as an upper incisor. It'll eventually fall out on it's own and it's pretty worn down by now but it's still strongly planted in my mouth. Ideally you'd want to have it remove and an implant put in before it falls out. It makes things easier for the implant.
 
I still feel great after yesterday. I only have a little pain which the oxycondone is taking care of. Been eating gelatin, puddings and soups. No swelling at all. Overall I have had much worse expirences than this.
