So, looking through the ads for something to price match, as i have a 15.00 BB GC from buying scribblenauts.. I find the Wizard Of Oz(blu ray) for 20.00 cheaper than anywhere else. It says on the Ad "Only at Target" so i did a little research and i found this :
http://www.blu-ray.com/news/?id=3463

Anyone have any more info?

Edit: http://www.highdefdigest.com/news/s...lu-ray_Exclusives_Available_September_29/3499

HDD says its missing all the collectible nonsense...
That is absurd....pay $51.99 and receive the whole package. Amazon.com has this for $51.99 shipped!!!!

FYI this isn't Ultimate Collector's Edition. Target comes with 3 Disc and no book or extras. Walmart comes with 1-Disc, Best Buy comes with UCE but lenticular postcard and Amazon comes with Book & poster.

Oz on blu-ray? Really??? I don't see how this can benefit a whole heck of a lot from being upscaled to HD.

...then again, I'm one of those rare human beings who despises this movie. Always have, even when I was a kid.

There's a little bit of disinformation in your post. It's not upscaled, in fact it's taken from an 8k scan of a print. It's pretty much the opposite of upscaled and means the movie should look better than it did in theaters.

I don't really like the movie either BTW.
Walmart's one disc edition is supposed to be $19.96 for the BD.
ya its just the movie so good for people who dont watch any special features

Some Targets seem to have gotten only 3 of the non-UCE version of Wizard of Oz for the initial run. Picked up one this morning and there were none left. Several reports have people going and saying they bought all 3 copies on the shelf. Seems to be low numbers for this shipment either way.

I posted some pictures on HDD of mine that I picked up this morning.

Bough all 3? Ugh. Idiots try to make a buck. They do know the 3 disc Oz will be in print for a long time at Target, right?

Yeah I know. Doesn't make sense to me either. Just like keeping a movie sealed. I've already opened mine up and me and the wife are going to watch it tonight. Has been years since I have seen it.

Although I do think Target should have provided a more ample supply, especially for being a featured item in the sales sheet.

I was surprised on HDD how many people said they have never seen the movie.

Enjoy your gaudy green watch... yikes.

Maybe someone doesn't want to pay extra for a bunch of junk they'll probably end up throwing away or losing over the years.

That and the fact that for $15 more, you can get the full collector's edition...how much money are they really gonna make?

Exactly; if they were hoping to make money off of them, they're just not very bright. Hopefully, they were just picking them up for friends or family, but with such a limited supply initially, Target should have limited the set to one per customer.

Looks like they're doing a C-walk, lol!
Just grabbed the Walmart exclusive; it was only $17.09. Already had a rollback sign on it.
When you open it, let me know where all that bonus content is advertised on the on pack sticker. I was a little confused if that's all on the one disc, an extra disc or is it some sort of dl content.

I went ahead with the Target pack since it was on my way to work and the docs looked kinda cool.

According to the folks at Blu-ray.com, the Walmart single-disc edition is the same as the first disc that's found in the UCE & Target editions; the sticker listing additional bonus content that is found on disc two of the UCE & Target sets is incorrect.

Well that's fuck'd up since the sticker is a Walmart specific sticker. Glad I went with the Target pack then. Like others, my Target only had 3 on the shelf, 2 after I left.
Quick question for those of you who bought it at Target, was the $34 the MSRP or was that the sale price?
The shelf sticker underneath the one I bought said $39.99 so I'd say it's sale priced.

Thanks for the reply, looks like I better make my decision this week.

I agree with you on that. On the other hand stores like Target also tend to look at how similar catalog titles have sold in the past to determine how many a store might get in the future. So I'd imagine they used titles such as Casablanca to determine how many a store might get for this release of Wizard Of Oz. It sucks but that's companies like Target work. That way then they aren't stuck with a ton of copies that they may or may not get their money back on from Warner if the release is a dud.

Also for the record (and not to nit pick)... but its not an "sales sheet." Its an weekly ad. ;)

Yeah yeah I know :dunce: Although technically it is a SHEET of paper that lists SALE items on it so it could be an alternate definition of a sales sheet.

That's what I get for having lived in Texas for too long before moving here. Picked up a bit of country vocabulary that never died out.
Just got Bestbuy to match the Target sales price....
Was able to get the same today at Best Buy. $34.99 for the big box set without them batting an eye.

Never know if it'll work or not. It appears that the huge megabox is the only way to get the digital copy, for those that want it.

 I think I'll head over there tomorrow and see if they'll price match it for me.

Edit: Quick question, do you need the actual ad or can it be a scan?

Either, I preferred hardcopy of the ad.

For those who have a question about the Walmart Special content it is on the disc (as far as I saw) I think confusion may stem from the movie auto playing without going to a menu first. If you press the top menu button on your remote you are presented with a full menu of special features.

The sticker lists special features that are on disc 2 of the 3 disc set. That is where the problem lies. The Walmart version is disc 1 of the 3 disc set - it's even labeled disc 1.

blah. I bit the bullet last night on amazon and paid $51.99 for the UCE. you guys are getting BB to price match target's $34.99 bare edition on the UCE at BB?

I haven't seen any of this information posted yet:

• The Wizard of Oz Blu-Ray Buying Guide

• The Wizard of Oz Blu-Ray Review [surprising]

• The Wizard of Oz will be available for instant streaming on Netflix to everyone– even non-member! But there's a catch, so check out the link.

Hope this helps!

If u look at the ad at target.com and click the picture on the ad it says ultimate collectors edition. But still has the target image on it.
Which version did you bought?
I picked up the Blu-Ray version
I mean there are 2 Blu-ray versions of WOO, one is regular UCE and the other is UCE BB exclusive.
I got the regular Blu-Ray UCE, I didn't even notice if there were any BB UCE's at the BB I was at. I was just happy to get it for the price I paid :) it's ashame would have liked those post cards though.
