Wolfenstein $39.99 after Reward Zone Gamers Club

Waiting for it to drop to $40, then using the $20 off. From what I have heard it doesn't seem to be worth $40, but for $20 I will bite.

Hopefully, it'll drop on 11/01/09, which is a Sunday, and then we can luck out and get it for $20 AC.

We should know about next week's ad flier in a few days, and the same time the following week for the 11/01/09 - 11/07/09 flier. Maybe it'll drop in those two weeks' time.
I've read the game is broken and won't be fixed, so this game ain't worth squat.
the 'broken' isn't that bad if you think ahead. Basically the issue comes in with completing the game, then going back to certain levels to collect the rest of the items for the achievements. Supposedly, when loading certain levels, the game will just freeze and may corrupt the save file. So, just grab all the items on your first play through, or on another, without completing it first, or make sure to grab all of the ones in the levels mentioned for the glitch. There is an achievement for completing under 12 hours, collecting everything may make this close. So do one play through under 12 hours on Uber and at the end you will get like 5 achievements (stackable difficulty) and then start a fresh game and go after collecting everything and mop up.

EDIT: buddy of mine who has completed the game, and is working on going back to find items. He swears he's loaded every level and no glitch, so this may be random as well...

I agree about $20 being the price point I'd buy it for. I know Amazon has the PC Version for $29.49, but I can definitely hold out for $19.99.

I have a feeling this game is gonna be $20 by Xmas, if not by Black Friday. I have a pretty huge backlog- so I'm in no rush.

I actually enjoyed this game quite a bit. It's definitely not a $60 game but for $40 it's pretty good and I never had a problem with glitches. Although the multi-player does suck.

20 bucks is worth taking the risk for me, because, of all the bad reviews I have heard on this one.
I have a source that said BBY will have a B2G1 next week. So here is to stacking:beer:
I'll believe it when I see it in the ad posting.

$30 used at Family Video for the 360 version. I didn't think to check the PS3 version when I was there.

Played the demo on PS3 last week and LOVED it. Bought the PC version the next day off Amazon. I was expecting it to be good, given it's by Raven and an ID property, but even after hearing people rave about it for months I still didn't expect it to be THAT much fun. The upgrade system looks great. Hopefully the full game is as good, and I won't run into that bug or whatever.

If you chose to replay missions, (on the consoles - I believe it has been patched on the PC) sooner or later you will run into the game killing glitch. It may happen the first time, or it may happen the tenth time you replay a mission. It is simply a matter of time, and it will corrupt all of your saved game files. It really is quite that simple. If you play straight through, you will be fine, and the game is quite enjoyable.

Multiplayer has its own set of issues including rank resetting / not saving, money being lost, and some balance issues that you will discover on your own...

Thanks for the info! The multiplayer stuff won't affect me since I won't play it, so at least for me that works out.

I think I read that the game is going to get a patch but its unclear when the patch will be released. That could also just be hear-say.

I totally enjoyed the single player of the game until I got to the very last 10 minutes of the game and couldn't finish it because it would freeze every time. The cause of this is related to replaying missions. I replayed a few missions earlier in the game because I was trying to get all the collectibles. If you replay missions at all the game will freeze on the last level. The multiplayer is a joke.

Glitch stuff aside, I really liked the game. The knock against it from all of the major reviewers was that it was a "typical" sort of FPS. While I see why they might say that, I found that the Veil stuff really made it less of a "typical" FPS and that it was unique enough. I think the polish (on the campaign) and gameplay are rock solid. My only major complaint is that too many of the chevos are multiplayer related.

Overall, I'd give the game an 8.5 out of 10.

The MP is broke also, 1 out of 4 matches your gold wont save. And sometimes it was more often than that. I got sick and tired of losing 4-5k gold evey few matches. Since there will never be a patch I sold the POS.

I *like* typical if by that they mean coridor-y with lots of great (dumb) enemies to kill. It really didn't seem typical at all though in the sense that it had a great weapon upgrade system from what I could tell in the demo (seemed SUPER fun, and I don't ever remember seeing that in a straight FPS before), and the veil powers are obviously original too. I mean not 100% original, but certainly new. And then it just looked and ran and played great too, and the theme/enemies were just the right evil/crazy/fun mixture for me :whistle2:D

I'm really looking forward to it, though...it's entering THE BACKLOG OF DOOM™.

Yeah, the weapons upgrade system is really cool. The only problem is that I don't have enough gold to buy all the upgrades I want!

I want the game but I need to be clarified:

1. Is the glitch that erases the saves for PS3 or 360? Id get PS3.
2. Does the glitch erase JUST the Wolfenstein saves or for all my games?

I'd like to know this as well. I'm assuming from the posts I've read that it's the PS3 version of the game? What I'm not sure about is if it just corrupts your Wolfenstein save game file (meaning you would have to start the entire game over again) or if it corrupts all of your save game files? I guess I'd play it safe and back them all up to a flash or external hard drive prior to playing it if so.

1. The glitch is for 360, PS3 and PC. Basically starting specifically with the Airfield level the game will freeze and lock up your PS3 or 360, or with the PC cause you to have to close the game via task manager. The glitch has to do with you save file getting corrupted by going back to previous levels or resuming the game from a prior savepoint. Once it starts freezing it just gets worse and worse till eventually the game just starts freezing on the load screen. I have first hand experience with this glitch and have seen it happen to all 3 people i know that own the game 2 on 360 and 1 on PS3. There is supposedly a 1.12 patch coming for PC which i hope will translate to an update on PSN or LIVE as well. Alot of people who were working on this game at Raven studios were laid off so support for this game has been slow and minimal. More information can be found @ www.wolfenstein.com/board

2. The glitch does not affect any other games except for your Wolfenstein saves and it doesnt delete them it just corrupts them to where your game will always glitch and freeze.

That sucks that Raven had to let people go :( They've had TWO great games this year, and other than the XMen Legends/MUA1 I've lovd almost everything they've done.

Thanks for the info!

Rented this game on 360 and actually had a lot of fun with it until I ran into the freezing glitch. If it's been patched on PC, I'll gladly pick it up for $10-$20, as the game would get a solid 8 from me if there was no game breaking glitch in it.

The save game mechanism was not well designed. On the PS3 they use one save file which inside contains all the checkpoint saves. By using one large file there is a per-file size limit and after passing a certain level, you can't go back to those levels.

Aside from that, its a fun game. Not as good as the previous installment, RtCW though.
