It's Wednesday, I've already billed roughly 50 hours for the week (Monday, Tuesday and today) and there is no end in sight. I'm also going to have to work all weekend and I've got about 5 more hours of work left tonight if I hurry. I haven't had a single day off other than weekends since last Christmas and I just can't take it anymore. Goddamn golden handcuffs - these douchebags own me and there's no way out.

Hmm, I 'probably' make as much as javeryh if I did my work as an individual but none of the actual money goes to me (it goes to the company) so I guess in that sense I'm not making as much. :p

You're a lawyer right? And people called me nuts when I said I didn't want to go to law school for this very reason. Look on the bright side, you could be an intern like I currently am. Sure the hours are easy, but I get nothing (you'd think I'd at least get free coffee or something) and so now have to work some hours at a second job just to have a little income.

Even if you are making a ton of money work can still suck its just the nature of things. I used to work tech support till I got fed up and quit. Started my own .com worked 14-16 hour days for a year and a half straight with one day off (to get married). Just sold it a month ago the same day my wife and I had our first child. Now I sit around the house and play video games and take care of our little girl at least for a year or so till I get bored and go back to work.

If my math is correct you are working about 17 hours a day not including commuting back and forth. So you are never home. fuck that I how much you make? If its a lot of money a year I would quit and rest for a few months then go back to a similar job then rinse and repeat for the rest of your life. :D

Almost... I billed 15, 15 and 16 so far... so that's roughly 46 hours in 3 days. I do make a lot and the job is not easy to come by and I'm probably going to get fired in 3 years or less because everyone does so I've got to suck it up because it might never be this good again...

Hell yeah work sucks! Which is exactly why I don't do it anymore. :D I saved up a bunch of cash to take plenty of time off to find a new career. Maybe you might want to give that a shot too.

I'm always interested to see people who work so much finding the time to visit this site. I may be one of the few people here who works more hours/week than you do. But somehow I still find time to visit regularly...

Reading this shit you post, javeryh, makes me question if I want to be a laywer. I think if I don't get into a top 5 law school I'll just say fuck it and get an MBA instead.

Being a lawyer can be enjoyable - a lot of people I work with love it. Just don't get into it for the wrong reasons like I did. If you are debating between an MBA and a JD go an extra year and get both. It will pay off in the long run... If you can get into a top 50 law school and get over a 3.5 you will easily make $150k at a big city firm your first year. Study your ass off your first year and you will be all set...
