Working on Thanksgiving or working retail at 5am Black Friday?

JimmieMac

CAGiversary!
What's worse, having to work Thanksgiving or having to be up at some ungodly hour , 4:30am, the day after Thankgiving, Black Friday, to work a retail job?

I worked today, restaurant, but was doing buffet style, I started at 10 AM got out at 3 PM. BF would suck balls..

Black Friday is the worst... I've worked Black Friday's at both Best Buy and K-Mart... each time it sucks complete ass, I've never seen ruder people than at Black Friday.

Black Friday. There's a reason why I do all of my BF shopping online. I can shop in my PJ's and I don't have to worry about coming out of the store with a black eye. (Yes, that actually happened to me a few years ago.)

ANyone who says working thanksgiving is worse than BF has never worked a BF in major retail. Sure if real a family guy then it sucks, but black friday you sometimes feel lucky to be alive afterwards. However I feel deeply sorry for those that have to work both, truly a fate worse than death.

It's horrible... people turn into 100 times the asshole they usually are.

And going to work, and the first thing you see is a line of 100 + people... that's INSTANTLY a shitty day.

Working on Thanksgiving sucks, because of all of the holidays that one is meant for family more then any other IMO.

However, I've gotten up at 3am dragged my sorry ass to a retail store so old cheap bitches, and bastards can buy $20 dvd players. Its something everyone should experience at least once. After the morning rush its fun. You get to piss off all of the people who are to dumb to understand doorbuster sales. Thats the only satisfaction you can get working retail black Friday.

"What do you mean you were open at 5am?"
"Why didn't your store get more then 15, thats not fair."
"Can I get a raincheck."

Because, fuck off, and fuck no. Your dumbass should have been here at 4am like everyone else.

Lets have a moment of silence for all the poor souls that have to work tomorrow. I've worked retail on Black Friday and that is truly the worst day of the year.

Shit, I'm off today and tomorrow AND paid for it.

I have worked black friday 3 years in a row. Last year at Kohl's (FAT BITCHES) and WAL-MART for 2 years.
^ I paid my dues, THANK YOU

I work Black Friday.

In Hardware at Menards, you work one of two shifts:
5:30 AM - 5:00 PM

Or,

12:00 PM - close (open till 10 on Fridays)

The first shift would suck. You'd have to get up really early and that is a really long day.

I work the second shift. It will also blow. I don't think it will be nearly as busy as the morning, but the store will be a freaking MESS and we will probably be there until like midnight or 1 AM.

Tomorrow will not be fun.

I'd much rather work on BF.

I used to work at American Eagle from 6:00Am till 2:00pm...it was so easy. I pretty much just made sure no one stole anything. It was too hard to keep the store super neat because the people would be ripping things apart.

I got work from 4am-9:45am on Black Friday at Best Buy. We open up at 5am. Wanna know the funny thing? It's my second day on the job (not including training).

It's my 2nd day working at TRU tomorrow. I have to work from 1pm to close.

Christ, I picked a terrible time to get a job...

You have the easiest shift in the world. You come in at 1pm, everyone has already gone out in the early morning to shop and everyone is done shopping.

Shit, the people who work the afternoon have it the easiest of all, all they really have to do is clean up the mess.

I had to run the Detroit Lions game at work (radio station) on Thanksgiving. I watched T.V. and played video games the entire time, and cut it off like a guillotine once they said the final score.

Made it home in time for dinner.
I don't work retail, but I had to work today from 6am - 2pm. And I have to work tomorrow from 6am - 2pm.
Same for me, but 7am-3pm.

It's def. easier, but I've worked both. The major downside to working an afternoon shift on BF is you get all the dumb sons of bitches that come into the store at about 3 pm still thinking there'll be good stuff left. They then get bitchy and try to take it out on you when you don't have it, not being smart enough to realize that the store was just raped and piliged by a hoarde remeniscent of the vikings at about 6 am...

I have never worked retail, but I did work at a fast food place when I was younger. Thanksgiving usually had reduced hours and the crowd was pretty mellow. Alot of older people hanging out having some coffee. BF would be hell, especially for retail. There are usually only a handful of the "prized" items, and alot more crazy people.
