World of Warcraft + Expansions, $5-$10 Each @ Best Buy & Gamestop

I've been away from WoW since before TBC, so I have a few questions.

Do these come with 30 days game time?

Do I need to get one expansion before getting the next? What's in these expansions? Additional maps/dungeons/classes? Is a different level cap enforced for each expansion, even though the server is on 85 now?

Thanks for the post, these seem like really good deals.

Currently Blizzard still has a special "Scroll of Res" that if you haven't played since before March 2012, you can get a free upgrade to Cataclysm + a free lvl80 character + free realm transfer + 7 day free play time.

If you want a scroll PM me and I can send you one if you want to try out wow again.
What if I have never played before?

If you haven't played before. Download the game from battle.net. You can play for free up to level 20. Then if you like it get the battlechest. I believe the normal price on it is $20.

The expansions do not come with free game time. Only Original WoW will. You would need to start a new account and scrap your old one to get the free 30 days

Each expansion is required in succession to level up to the current level cap of 85. With each expansion is a fair amount of dungeons and new areas and content.

Original WoW is lvl 1-60. The have revamped the entire 1-60 experience and it is a lot better now.

The Burning Crusade is the first expansion pack and runs levels 60-70. Gives access to "The Outlands" planet.

Wrath of the Lich King adds in the Northrend areas and will take you through the 70-80 levels and content. New Deathknight class added. Was a pretty decent expansion.

Cataclysm is the newest expansion and will grant you 80-85 levels and content. New Goblin and Worgen character races added. I finally lost interest after 400 days (over 7 years) worth of real time invested in the game.

Mysts of Pandaria will be the newest expansion and it comes out next month.

Don't forget that Blizzard has also added Burning Crusade to the original WoW game so you don't need that expansion anymore. (When you buy regular World of Warcraft, it comes with Burning Crusade already unlocked for free).

If you were interested in giving wow a shot, you really can't beat the $20 deal here from Best Buy. $5 for Wrath is the cheapest I've seen it. I can't remember if Blizzard had it for $5 during their sale earlier this year or not. $10 for Cata is a steal too.

Just know that the difficulty jump rose from Wrath to Cata in the beginning, but then Blizzard tuned it down a bit. Mists is shaping to be a decent expansion from what I've played on the Beta with it.

Cataclysm is on sale for $5 at Fry's this week (in-store only), if you have one nearby. Battlechest and WotLK are also $5 there too.

Then there's the "Recruit a Friend" feature. If you and the person who recruited you play together, you get triple experience and can teleport to the other player's location. If you don't play together, well, the recruitee won't see much of a benefit at all, but the recruiter will get 30 days of game time and a mount after the recruitee buys a month or two months of game time (respectively).

It'd still be cool for people that're seriously considering buying this to sign up under a CAG. Better than signing up under no one (and no one gets any bonuses).

^This. The new refer-a-friend mount is awesome and I don't have it yet! :O

I will shamelessly pimp myself out and say I don't have one yet either. :p ¬¬
Good deal, but it's too bad I don't have enough time to get into an MMO.
Eh with the direction WoW has gone, you really don't need to dedicate a whole amount of time to it. The only real factor that could be involved is that it's one of the few that are still pay to play. I wouldn't put it past Blizzard sometime down the line (maybe later on in the lifespan Mists itself) to adopt a premium-based model if subs start to decline drastically. Be kinda like DDO (Dungeons and Dragons Online) where you can still pay $15/month for access for everything, or buy the content you want outright. Though it'll probably be a long time, if ever, for that to happen.

Also Blizzard store has Battlechest, Wraith, Cata, and Mist of Pandora all for $59.99, which equals this sale exactly.

finally found something to spend my worthless Diablo III RMAH blizz bucks :)
How does this refer a friend work? I'm about to pull the trigger
There's not much to it. You PM a recruiter your email, they go to their Battle.net account and send you a referral, and you sign up through the email Blizz sends. Then you become linked. All this must be done before you redeem a version of WoW though.

well at least they made it simple......oh wait

I paid for a year in advance to get Diablo 3 last year, still have quite a few months left although I haven't played in quite a while. May have to get back into the game if I can get in on that RAF mount...

I'm anyone wants to PM me their email address, I can send you a referral link so we both can get the free month after you purchase two months of game time.

I play WoW daily, it's still a great game and Mists of Pandaria looks to be the best yet!

Prepare!

If any ex-wow players were thinking of coming back - send me a pm before you buy any of these and I can refer you. You get a free 80 plus cataclysm.

or if you're a new player, send me a PM and we can level up 3x as fast if you want to play together.
I need a scroll of res, someone that has one available today send me a PM! steel, ill PM you.
Got you ^_^

Scroll of Res reminds me of when a person in Vegas who wins a bit in gambling gets treated to comps by floor managers which convinces people to stay at their casino (ie. free buffet meals) ...

Is the promotion for the Level-up, character transfer, and digital upgrade still available? everything I'm reading online says it was only available for 90 days starting in March?

Hmmm been thinking about playing and played the starter edition to level 20 which lasted a whole 2 days. Probably be depending on if I can get a friend talked into getting this too.

Looking at my account referral page...it clearly mentions...
When your friend accepts your invitation and returns to WoW, he or she immediately receives the following FREE rewards for ONE character:
One character boosted to level 80 - limited time offer
FREE character move to your realm and faction (see more)
FREE upgrade to Cataclysm - limited time offer

Ah, thanks for the clarification. Still debating if I want to resub.

In for WoW and Lich King. Might get Cataclysm. I hope all the people who paid full price for this thing felt that it was worth it.

Anybody new to WoW

PM me your email, and I can recruit you and we both get Triple XP for 90 days, free month sub (after you purchase 2 months), free player to player teleport
ill take a scroll, if anyone has one PM me.
Me too if anybody wants to PM me. Thanks.

If your waiting for Mists Blizzard is offering the starter editions a upgrade price of $60 for all of the expansion packs combined which is essentially the same deal but throwing in Mists at MSRP, no tax and of course a digital copy.

I'm waiting to see how Guild Wars 2 pans out before I make a decision on what I'm doing with WoW.

If anybody is buying or interested in buying cataclysm, let me know. I have an unused code for it I'd be willing to sell cheap.

honestly WoW was great. What finally killed it for me was hitting end game and raiding for a month or so... it became pointless... the game is great but you gotta play it in stages..
step 1, play and max your level
step 2 do dungeons for blue (rare) loot
step 3 raid for purple ( very rare) loot
step 4 raid for even better purple loot
step 5 get bored, quit, and wait for a while....
step 6 after 2-4 new expansions come out the game will feel fresh
Start step 1 again.

I know this is going all off topic from the point of posting a great deal and all :p, but I have to chime in. That all depends on the type of player you are and guild you're in. Some people are content doing side stuff, PVP, arena, etc. While other people are in super hardcore guilds that will blister through content as fast as they can so they can claim to be first or whatever. Blizzard this time is artificially gating the raid content so it's not burnt through as quickly.

A week after launch, the first raid will pop up, a week after that the Raid Finder version will unlock. 4 weeks after that, the next two raids will unlock, and a week after that, their Raid Finder versions.

Plus in the Mists expansion there's The Tillers faction where you can have your own farm (think Harvest Moon) and Pet Battles (Pokemon) and loads of other stuff to keep from being bored. :D

Also I'll plug that if anyone wants a scroll of res, to PM me your email address and I'll hook you up. :D

Question to those who have this as a physical item: is there an advantage to getting the Battle Chest over a digital buy from Battle.net? Does the box include full-size strat guides or is it on-disc pdfs?

Has some mini strategy guides that help you out for the first few levels. Plus you get physical CDs (always a plus).
If anyone has a scroll left I could surely use one.
I have one, pm me your details so I can send one to you.

While, in general, I think having the physical CDs is usually a plus, I do feel like for WoW, it's not as big of a deal, since, there is literally nothing you can do if the servers are down.

EDIT: and I'd love to scroll somebody if anyone needs, but I probably can't do it until tonight.

Given Mists of Panderia is bringing a massive skills and talents revamp, I can't see the guides being useful for much more than a collector's thing. Game itself also has plenty of in-game resources for completing quests and the like.
Im interested in a scroll as well. I never really got into WoW due to lack of playing time.
Sent you a PM. I've got one you can have.

question? If I sent a recruit a friend to a "friend" (meaning me) can I use the code that comes with the original WoW to activate that account and get a free month for my old account?
