World Series 2005: White Sox vs. Astros

I'm from Chicago. I love baseball. I'm rooting for the Astros. I like this Sox team fine, but there's too much Cub in me to REALLY get behind them. Whoever said it will be boring has been freebasing memory cards. So many great pitchers in this series.

If I was Homer Simpson, I'd be holding a banner reading "Baseball."
stupid baseball, prison break wont be shown on tv
yes but it allows people like me to catch up on missed episodes (FX marathon on Sunday).

Also I think the White Sox win in 6.

Back when I used to live in Austin as a 10-year old and saw Craig Biggio as a rookie, I remember thinking that he must be my size (he looked that much smaller than the other players). I'm glad he's finally getting to the Series.

sox because I'm in Chicago, they say the White Sox have the best chance to win the series, but who knows but I can tell you one thing they sure as hell had an excellent year. Us Chicagoans will be takin the brooms outta the closet pretty soon!

Astros Baby!!!...I was at the game Saturday and it was electric. I moved here from NY 8 years ago and have slowly converted from a Yankees fan to an Astros fan. These guys definitely deserve it. I can't imagine a group of players that deserve it more.....go 'stros!!!

What a way to finish after getting Pujolwned in the bottom of the 9th in Houston, the Astros make it quick in getting the job done in St. Louis.
sox when then they got to let shoeless joe in the hall
That's a lot of optimism, though I'm sure you heard about Clemens' mom's deathbed hallucinations.

I would like the Astro's to win. Clemens, Pettite, and Oswalt are so much cooler than Buerhle, Garica, Garland, and Contraras (although I am a big fan of Mark Buerhle).

I am actually quite happy that both teams make it. Hopefully they make it a good and interesting series and not like last year's 4-game sweep.

I see whose in the world series and I think of all the years including this year baseball games and how the Astros are a bit better then average and the white sox's have sucked on every game except for Frank Thomas's baseball on the SNES.

This is exactly what Cub fans complain about when talking about Sox fans. Historically Sox fans have been accused (and in many cases righfully so) of being more concerned with the Cubs losing than the Sox winning. I am not a Sox fan at all, but I'll be rooting for them cause it would be great for the City.

If the Sox were playing the Cardinals in the series who would you root for?

I'm a Cubs fan myself...so I don't care which one wins!

(Honestly though, I guess I'd say Sox...although I feel a little guilt when saying it...)

Even though I'm a Cleveland fan.. I was all ready and willing to root for the White Sox, love to see an AL team learning to play small ball. But Ozzie Guillen is just way too much of an ass for me to ever root for his team. Therefore, suppose I'll root for the Astros.

Guillen is an ass....you are right about that.
Astros so Biggio and Bagwell can finally win one...
Quoted for truth. I was going to write the exact same thing.
Alright guys, now we know the teams. Who's gonna win it and why?
White Sox in 6, cause I said so.

I think its gonna be Sox in 6 also. Astros could win cuzof their pitching though.

I don't care either way...I don't understand why the chisox are so heavily favored...yes they had a great season, and there pitching has been stellar in the post season...and yes the astros have a weak offense, but the stros just took out the cardinals, the odds on favorite nl team...they scored 60++ more runs then the whitesox, and allowed 10 or so less runs over the course of the season, and won 1 more game but the astros still beat them...IMO the offensive production of the cardinals is a lot better then that of the whitesox....

As I mentioned in my "White Sox win the pennant!" thread, I'm an Illinois native who has always loved the Sox since childhood. I even had a black Labrador with white paws named White Sox, lol.

It seems like now that I've left Illinois (as of November 2004), my teams have gotten good- the Bulls, Sox, and Illini- yet I am no longer able to watch the games on local TV. I was excited as hell that the Sox made the series for the first time in my lifetime, and I pray to God that they will win it all.
