I did a search for this, and I didn't see it, so if it's been discussed my apologies. If you want to see my scan of the ad in question the link is in my new posting. (Full disclosure, I wrote that "article") Anyway, they're trying to sell you the Xbox 360 core for $630 cash, or $1420 in payments. That's pretty effed up if you ask me. Though, I'm curious to know how many people buy consoles from them.

By the way, if you'd like to digg my article, I'd be a happy camper: Digg it please

Yeah, they did this with the ps2 at least ($600 sign I saw in a window years ago). I really don't see the appeal of those rental places anyway.

The second I see a PS3 ad it'll be online. By my calculations the PS3 will be $2800, but only about $1300 cash. Maybe they bought them off of eBay therefore the high markup?

Those rent a center places are horrible for terribly marking up the most worthless of crap... they prey off the stupid and those with absolutely no credit... as if paying a few times the price of an item will help them get out of that hole

IMO, they are about as worthless and trashy places as Title Pawn shops, cash til payday stores, temporary labor finders, and pawn shops... the havens for white trash

I remember seeing that when I was in there last week. They were offering Project Gotham Racing 3 with it for free:wall:. Seriously, I don't understand why people would do that, just save up and save yourself $1100.

Hey now, my one local pawn shop is pretty uninformed when it comes to games, so I've found a few decent deals there over the years. And actually, I grabbed a 50001 PS2 from them there about 3+ years ago, used it for a year solidly, then traded it to EB for $100 in credit.

I only paid about $100 for it in the first place from them, so it's like I got the use of it for a year and got rid of it when the laser was going kaput to EB. They also said they would 'keep an eye out' for me for certain games and well...they don't price their games via Ebay like GS does.

However, the rental places are a total rip off, as my one friend and his family paid something like $1200 for a computer that was worth $125 by the time they paid it off.
