Worst New Game Ever Bought?

I am guessing you want Xbox games, right? well, i'm going to go to the N64 and say the Castlevania game. I picked it up as a blind buy and it was terrible.

Mechassault 2 was up there, but I got it off retail site and got back $20 store credit for it..

I'd have to say Legend of Dragoon. I wanted an RPG and sony's hype machine got me. Terrible, terrible game..

I say "Full Spectrum Warrior". Don't get me wrong, it is an awesome game, but I beat it in two days and was like "thats it?". Just wanted more for my 50 bucks. So I payed 50 bucks for halo 2 and FSW. Played FSW for two days and have played halo 2 almost every single day since november the ninth. I am just speaking of "bang for the buck".

well.... smartypants.... have you played it everyday since november ninth? no? perhaps that is why you don't think it was worth 55 bucks.
Halo 2 wasn't worth the 55+ I paid for it...
There he is!

You asked for it, so I told you. It wasn't worth more than $30
Mechassault 2
that's about the only game i've paid $50 for except halo2, and i'm with jughead on that note. The MA2 purchase was with a giftcard that was burning a hole in me pocket.

Hmmm. Probably either Dead to Rights or Enter the Matrix. Oh, wiat, no--the first Gundam game for PS2! My God, I was so excited about that game until I played it...

State of Emergency. What was I thinking????
I agree with you.
same here, I had read a bunch of previews, and it looked awesome...

i loved legend of dragoon

You were thinking, "Wow, Rockstar sure generates a lot of hype for their games." Too bad they are mostly shit and essentially pure hype. How they have continued to fool people into thinking that GTA:SA is a good game, I can't understand.

Enter The Matrix and State of Emergency. That's when I stopped taking my coworkers' word for "quality" games.

Honestly, I probably didn't get my money's worth out of Project Gotham 1, though I would never call it a bad game.
What is the worst game you spent $50 or more for and regretted later?
Spider-Man 2 and Simpsons Hit and Run. What these have in common is that they're really fun for the first few hours with the GTA-alike open ended gameplay, but after a couple of days, you get that sinking feeling that you're just doing variations on the same 2 or 3 missions over and over again.
Jurassic Park: Trespasser for the PC. I should make a shrine of regret for that one...
That game was fun.. I loved how the health meter was on her boobs.

The Bouncer.

This is exactly why I never buy a new release game. IMO, there isn't a single game worth $50, not as long as I have 185 games still waiting to be played. There are a rare few that might be worth it if I only had a few games but I'll probably never see that day again, thanks to CAG.
I'd have to say Legend of Dragoon. I wanted an RPG and sony's hype machine got me. Terrible, terrible game..
At least it wasn't as bad as Crave's supposed Final Fantasy VII killer Shadow Madness. It was the height of mediocrity from Crave (when generally most of the products were terrible, sans Jade Cocoon).

Street Fighter 2010 for the NES, although while I did buy it new, I doubt it cost me $50 back in the day.

Dino, for me, SM2's awesome play mechanics made up for its repetitive nature. (I only paid $20 for it, but that was after I had beaten a borrowed copy -- I would happily play through it again when the backlog gets slimmer.)

My list:

Diakatana (PC)- Didn't even work on my (at the time) high end system
Trickstyle (DC)- it was just shite
Virtua Striker 2.000 (DC)- The game did no justice for the sport, nor did it have the nice feel of its arcade bretheren
Battle Arena Toshinden III (PSX)- Really, did they even try for this one
NHL Open Ice 2 on 2 (PSX)- Another arcade port that lost something in the home translation. After the excellent ports of Hang Time and Jam TE, I thought this one would be good.
Corvette (PS2)- I was expecting way too much from a value priced title
TNN Hardcore Heat (DC) [Actually Buggy Heat]- It seemed like a good idea, an off road racer, and I enjoyed TNN Hardcore 4x4, but it didn't play up to my expectations.

Killzone. Looks great in screenshots. Plays horribly. Didn't quite pay $50 for it, but it's definitely the most disappointing game I own.

I would have to go with DOA: Beach Volleyball when it first came out because I bought it for my girlfriend because of the April fool's joke that EGM was playing and she played it for about three days and traded it in.

I have only paid $50 for one game in my life - that was Halo 2.

I did buy a few crappy cheap games that were brand new: Genma Onishima and Ghost Recon. But I didnt pay $50 for those.

halo2 was dissappointing...but the worst game i ever got roped into paying full price was Enter The Matrix. i spent 50 damn bucks on that gem.

Panzer Dragoon Saga

Just kidding, that was a great buy. My worst new game buy has to be South Park for n64. South Park was really big back then and I liked turok and it was on sale for $49.99, so I bit the bullet. Thankfully, I haven't paid even close to that much for a single GC, xbox, or ps2 game.
How about the best game you spent $50 or more on?

I say Diablo II...I still play that game about once a week.
I'd say the opposite. There was just something about Diablo II later on in the game that did not seem right. I didn't like how if you died you lost experience. That's like time lost you'll never gain back again. Or how some parts felt unpolished. It was a good game, but little things like that turned me off in the end.

As for the "worst" game, I'd say Yoshi's story (N64). I was hoping for Yoshi's Island 2 but we all know how that turned out. I promptly traded it in for NFL Blitz. Such a good game.
