If you find HL2: GOTY in a store, and you pay $50 for it, you'll get five (count 'em!) FIVE completely free coasters! No game, unfortunately, as Steam won't let you log on, but imagine resting five drinks on matching Half Life 2 themed coasters! It's incredible! And you get a storage case, that makes it look like you bought a game, even though the case contains nothing even remotely resembling a game, unless you think that the Steam login window (which is all you'll get, as you'll be completely unable to use the game, once you register you CD Key, and completely locks you out of Steam) counts as such!

All for only $50! It's amazing!

Seriously, though, this isn't a "deal" so much as a warning. The GOTY edition of HL2 simply doesn't work right now. At all. For anyone.

Maybe they're waiting for something or another, but right this minute, the game is utterly and totally broken. Don't buy it.

So did the OP actually find the GOTY edition or what, because Gamespot's saying it shipped today.. Also..

Speaking of Steam, those who purchased the game on Friday, looking forward to HL2: GOTY over the weekend, met an unsavory obstacle. Gamers wanting to play the game had to validate their CDs online but were unable to successfully log into their Steam accounts, rendering their copies unusable. Valve has since fixed the problem.

So let's hear what the OP thinks about the game now!
