Would you have purchased Wii Sports if it wasn't included?

Well, would you? Also, I know it's not "Free" with the Wii.. but, you get what I mean :)

I enjoy it, but I don't think I'd put down $50 for it. For me, this is a $20-$30 game. Leaning way towards $20. But still, it's good enough to be purchased IMO

I think it's a great game. I picked 20-30, but I might pay $40 for it, I don't think I'd go as high as $50 though.

No. It's a lot of fun, but it will get old fast since it isn't very deep options/modes wise and the games are so simplistic.

Maybe for a $10 tag I'd pick it up, but even then it's unlikely. It's really just a very fun tech demo.

If I never played it I would say no, but after playing it I would pay $40 at most for it. Lets put it this way, I have played Wii sports more than zelda so far.

As would I. If I were eyeing launch titles to buy, and Wii Sports was among the pack just like any other game, I'd definitely have still bought it.

WiiSports is just an awesome collection of games and just a wonderful example of what the Wii is capable of.

If I had not played the game, I probably would have been happy to pay a reduced price for it. After playing the game though, I would definitely be more than willing to pay full price for it.

WiiSports is tons of fun, especially when playing with other people.

I might of if it was in the $20-$30 range. Then again I am not a sports nut so I might of passed, that is provided I never played the game because I am addicted to Wii Bowling, lol.

After playing it, no, I would not have bought this game at all if it didn't come with the system. Maybe I would have if I was still in college and living in a fraternity house where there were a lot of people to play against. But as it is now, with no online play, I just don't have that many situations where I'm going to have a group of people over to play video games and this isn't the type of game that thrills me playing it by myself.

And I honestly only have fun with two of the sports: tennis and bowling.

Wii Sports is great, but I wouldn't buy it separately unless it was less than $30 (~DS game price sounds about right). I probably wouldn't even buy it at all if I hadn't been forced to play it.

No, the first thing I did is call gamestop when they opened to see if it had a trade-in value, but as I thought, no.. it didn't. :[

After seeing how much fun my girlfriend and my parents have had with WiiSports, the game would have been easily worth the $50.

My girlfriend plays games occasionally, but I have NEVER seen my parents willingly play a videogame, let alone enjoy it for an extended amount of time, and then ask how much additional controllers are.

hell no. Wii sports is a cruddy tech demo. its going to have to have aleast better art then moving cylenders and sphears and more games for me to buy. Im not a graphics snob, but i am an art snob and this game took no time to model. call me back when they decide to use the talent that their artests actualy have rather then doing some sort of mass apeal crap that throws dirt in the face of simplisity. It can be simple and good but this is just bad.

That goes for the whole mii channal as well. ug. I like the wii but hate the miis. Give me a few hours in maya and photoshop and let me make my own mii damit!!!

I would have if it was $20-$30. It is completely worth $50 to me, but the problem would have been I don't think anyone could have convinced me it was worth $50, without letting me play for a few days.

After almost a week with it though, for me, it's worth full price.

I'll bet when they do the first price drop next Fall (sooner?), they stop shipping the console with this game and either replace it with another game (Zelda bundle? Wii Play?) or an extra Remote and make the game available for the suggested $20-$30 price range. In a nice DVD case, of course, and maybe with a couple extra 'sports' to, you know, get some of us to 'double dip'.

Interesting question... the thing is I don't think I would have bought it seperately until playing it. I really wasn't that excited about it, but playing it is a blast.

I'm really surprised how many of you'd pay $50 for this. After playing Wii Sports for only a few hours, I got bored of it.

If the Wii was, say, $200, sans-Wii Sports, I'd have been more inclined to try and get it on launch day.

Wow I'm surprised at the amount of "$50" responses we got here. I do agree though. Even though personally I chose the $20-$30 answer, this game IS worth the $50 at launch. I think the keyword here is "at LAUNCH" because this is a perfect launch title game. Like if this game came out 2 years after the Wii launch.. then I really don't think the $50 would be good and that's when the $20-$30 price range kicks in.

As a launch game, this does rock. It's nice to see that the majority here (and I'm sure elsewhere) love this game. I had a feeling it was gonna be "meh".

Question that's slightly off topic, but still relates to Wii Sports: I'm not sure of the exact numbers, but if Nintendo shipped a 1 million Wiis and they sold 1 million. Does this mean that Wii Sports is considered "sold a million copies"

The amount of fun my friends, wife, and I have had with Wii Sports make it worth $50 easily. Can't wait to take it to my Grandma and Mom on Saturday. ;)

Boxing, while no doubt the weakest title in the game, is hilarious. ;)

I would have bought it as a $50 game simply because after Trauma Center, Zelda, and DBZ I was looking for two other games to buy. I ended up with Red Steel and Rampage (Rampage now being a free game after I returned it and it ended up in my bag).

And yes, boxing is hillarious.
Yes; but it would have to be in the $20-$30 range or asked botticus to buy it for me.
$50 Wii Sports for everyone, on me!

My cheapassedness says $20-30 but IMO it's definitely worth every penny of $50, if just for Wii Bowling which is quite possibly the best 20 minute killer ever.

Wii Sports is great, I haven't even opened Zelda yet. It's better than 90% of the Wii launch games, especially if you have 4 remotes and people over a lot. If you paid $50 for any game besides Zelda, then I would say Wii Sports is worth $50 also.
I would have paid $50 for it.
Ditto that. Super-fun...and multi-player that appeals to almost everyone in your family. That's what the Wii is all about.

I don't buy this logic at all, and never have, honestly. See, there's got to be a point where your personal enjoyment must be set aside an the game must be looked at as a consumer product, where the content is evaluated clinically. I mean, for the first six months I had the 360, I played the living s*** out of Geometry Wars, but does that mean I'd pay $50--or even half that--for the game? Should Virtual Console games cost more than most of the $50 new Wii games?

Wii Sports in a DVD case, as is, is basically a $20 game. Maybe $25 (5 games at $5 each, I suppose).

You do make a really good point. But I think when games are "worth" a certain price it can be made up of 2 things. What the game offers (as in replay value/unlockables/things to do) and how much fun you can have with it. A game that's just.. 5 hours long and there's no high scores or anything to unlock.. that's not worth a $50 price.

But I think some people are taking this as if you didn't get it with the Wii and you bought it for $50.. would you have been happy with that. I can understand the people saying "yes". If it's a game that brings your spouse and other friends who don't normally play games with you..then that's worth it IMO.

Before playing it, I would not have bought it, no.

But after playing it, yes, if I had to I would buy it for fifty dollars. It's just really fun.

Seems weird, but WiiSports is worth $50. Certainly it's among the best of the launch games and in some ways the best. It's a great party game and a great game to play for 15-30 minutes. It's gives a bit of exercise too which feels good. And there's a alot of room for improving your skill in the games.

Wii Sports is cutting edge. It's unique. Hence it would demand a higher price than a Geometry Wars or VC game which have many similar substitutes. That's why the folks who are having fun say they would pay $50. That's why folks who have fun with Geometry Wars wouldn't pay $50.

And don't let WiiSport's primitive graphics fool ya. Nintendo looks to have spent a good amount of time on the controls and the design. Something that's not discernible from a screenshot.

voted 20-30. I think its a fun game, and it definately gets non-gamers to play but i'm sure I won't be playing it that much in two weeks. As of now i casually play wii sports (golf is surprisingly really fun) but the majority of time I have to play games is spent on zelda, which is absolutely awesome

My wifes grandparents played golf on the thing tonight........and loved it. I think Nintendo wasn't trying to make it a stand alone game but showing you how Tiger Woods golf would work, How MLB would work, How Fight Night (or Punch Out) could work, and well bowling is worth 20 bucks by itself. Not to mention how much fun Top Spin would be. It's a great party game and everyone in my family that has played it loves it. Ol' Reginald may be on to something here.

I sure hope whatever MLB games come out for it are deep enough, refined, and don't make fielding a nightmare. I know that the Wii is getting The Bigs, but not so sure about MLB 2K7. It's going to be very difficult to get that balance of making the swinging mechanic not too tough but not 'Home Run Derby' easy, either.

I think the presence of The Bigs says that whatever we get will most likely be very offense-oriented, low on strikeouts, and not really big on things like baserunning and managing. NL snobs may now proceed to crack AL jokes here.

P.S. Given the nature of the game, I think the Tiger Woods series should be very much at home here, so long as EA puts more than a perfunctory effort into it (ha!).

Originally I just thought it was a glorified demo disc so I would not have bought it, especaially for $50. But after playing it I think its definitly worth something between 20-30

This game is the most fun I've ever had with a video game.

EDIT: and I can't wait for a "real" golf/baseball/tennis/boxing game. (bowling seems fun as it is.)

Very true :)
But I THINK it'd be best to say "Mario Golf, Mario Baseball, Punch Out, and the most likely soon to happen Mario Bowling". You know there's going to be even MORE Mario SPorts games for this..and that's just fine since they are really fun :)

Some game developer has to realize that realistic tennis and bowling games on the Wii will make a killing.

If you told me three months ago that I'd be dying for a bowling game, I would have laughed at you.
