Wrong disc in case

My friend has the worse luck ever. Bought Halo Reach from target, looking all brand spanking new and everything. Opened it up with a smile of epic proportions, which quickly fell as he realized it wasn't actually Halo Reach inside, but a DVD of a stupid anime series. I told him he might be able to explain the situation to target and they'll exchange it for him, but I'm not sure if this is the right mode of action. Is he screwed?

Why doesn't he go to Target first and try to explain the situation to them? You call also try to contact the manufacturer, but actually going to the store and seeing what happens firsthand would be a better idea than asking on here.

Agreed. My friend bought BF:BC2 from Best Buy earlier this year and inside he found someone's "ghetto mixx" instead of the game disc. He took it back to BB and explained the situation and they swapped it out for him no problem.

It could be a reseal swap or possibly a manufacturer error. Although it's weird that it's an anime dvd instead of some other game.

What was the anime dvd in the case?

Yeah, it was most likely return fraud. Someone swapped out the discs and then returned it. I've returned games at Target before and they opened the case to make sure that the disc was there. I was told that the game would be returned to the manufacturer for credit.

Go to the store and tell them what happened. Be polite but firm. Don't be timid since you haven't done anything wrong. They may look at that as nervousness and become suspicious. If you haven't done so, make sure you go today or as soon as possible. Good luck.

Let me guess, one of these discs:

It was Devilman Disc 1 XD. But yeah, that's basically what I told him, to go back to Target and explain what happened. Thanks for the advice everyone ^_^

Already told him that. Just wanted confirmation. =)

I went to walmart once to exchange Halo ODST because it had a crack in the center ring. Got a replacement and as per walmarts standards they open the case right in front of you. Lo and behold there was no disc or manual in the case. The manager was the one who was helping me. She about freaked out saying that customers have come in before stating the same thing about other games. But they never believed them and yet always gave them a replacement. I've never experianced it before myself. So im guessing wrong discs or no discs are a rare but common occurence.

You need to get back to the specific Target you got this from and speak to the manager. They may simply refuse to give you a refund since you left the store already.

Some stores will open up the shrink wrap upon returning nowadays even with a receipt. This is to prevent the bait and switchers!
