I'm not too keen and paying retail and I can't seem to find a reliable source that offers a 360 for a better deal. Any pointers? I'm looking for a pro or an elite. Thanks!
dell has had them (fairly) cheap with sales and coupon codes and stuff, i think there is a thread about it, but im not sure, good luck. if i happen to see anything, i will let you know
I've heard "jasper" models are less prone to RRODing, and seem to be recommended for anyone buying new. I believe they're 08 manufactured and have the 256 internal mem chip.
You definitely want to find a jasper. I found this site helpful in identifying one with out opening it (most retailers are ok with checking them until you find the one you want): http://community.winsupersite.com/blogs/paul/archive/2008/12/12/how-to-find-a-jasper-xbox-360.aspx
Basically you want one rated at 12.1 amps. I think I read some people are finding versions of jaspers with 512mb of onboard memory.
G-Stop is giving away Scene It 2 Games (with controllers) and You're In the Movies (with vision camera) with their pros and elites (i think pros, might be elites only, dont remember)
I just bought an elite at tech4less.com watch the prices, I scored one pretty cheap, fast shipping and good phone support, - 4 me anyway. Also you can get money back if you go through cashback @ livesearch.

Yeah thats recent, they just started adding 512mb onboard meaning if you have one then you have the latest one ... I got my jasper a few months ago and it had 256 onboard but this thing is silent and never gets warm to touch .
I got an open box elite from tech4less and had no problem registering it on the xbox360 website for a warranty. I also called my credit card company and purchased an exteneded warranty through visa on it for 60 bucks / 5yrs.
