So yea, if any of yall still got one laying around Id love to buy it off of ya!

:)

Hit me up on AIM or email me. Please dont PM cause i probably wont check it.

I remember Sega Channel, the original Gametap. I think i still had the thing up until a few years ago when i was cleaning out my closet. Good luck though.

I remember this! I wanted it bad but my mom said NO!

How was it? You'd think it sucked big time because hell this was when people were not even using 56k modems yet! lol I still have fond memories of my first times conecting to BBSs across the country by dialing long distance and downloading porn at like 24k. They best part was always having to explain why I called Arizona or Nevada at like 3 or 4 am and talked for an hour!

Really? That's cool they can't even pull that off today even with highspeed internet! LOL

Sega Channel wasnt over the phone line. It was through cable. It was probably the greatest thing i have ever had anything to do with on the basis of videogames. 50 new games every month... of course, we always looked forward to the months which contained general Chaos (whcih back then i though was pronounced ch aos with the "ch" sound)

thanks for the link to ebay, i swear i looked last night and only saw space channel 5

i remember playing Mario kart on the super nintendo once for 8 hours in a row on the Xband.. Sadly by the time it got down into the second markets (smaller cities) the system was already dying or dead. I think i got it in either 95 or 96 and at least here in fort wayne

Sega Gen. only had 2-3 people online (all playing Nhl 95 and madden 95) with no lag

Super nintendo had around 10-12 people online mario kart was the big game, followed by KI and Mortal Kombact All with no lag

mostly used it to chat with other people. the local and LD part really sucked cause you had to pay to play people who wasnt in your area .... I think i still have 4 or 5 of the xband systems

Mario Kart used the xBand? I never knew....

I used to play Xband on SNES. Was the best thing ever, but playing people outside of your local area was a pain in the ass. I forget how much it cost, but it wasn't pretty. I played Killer Instinct, Super Mario Kart, Kirby's Avalanche, and Doom...when it worked. I remember being only being able to find 3 people total in my local area to play KI, my favorite game at the time.

I remember sega channel, it was awesome. Streamed the games perfectly through the cable.

I remember being so happy every week or month or whenever they would completely change the lineup of games, it was like christmas every month.

I used to have an xBand for the Genesis & still have one for the SNES. I remember playing in a tournament over xBand for Mortal Kombat on the Genesis. I also remember having to enter in a code on the Genesis to chat after playing. Like others said the long distance charges ruined it though. I remember playing Killer Instinct against someone once in my area and that's about all the use I got out of my SNES xBand :D I didn't know it worked with Mario Kart either that would have been the game I would have been playing the most or at least trying to play on it the most :)

I have wondered afew times recently if anyone was nutty enough to actually have a homebrew server up for xBand although the long distance would make it unpractical.

I may have one at my parents house still. They had it for my sister's. Not when I lived there :(
I'm sure they'd part with it if it is still there.

Edit: If you want someone to email you, you need to allow it, or provide you email address.

The Sega Channel brings back a lot of fond memories for me as well. I remember excitedly waking up early in the morning before school to play the new addition of games. I think I played Shadowrun and the Beavis and Butthead game for the most part, and another game that I can't fully recall the name of... damn, I would love to play it again though.
