WTF. GameStop estimating PSP NGP to cost $1000

Common sense would say it won't be that price, it even says estimate all over the place.

Gamestop just wants the money to gain interest. :p

Can't wait to see an article about how Gamestop is ruining Sony's image with the estimate price.

These words are taken from the exact page your link goes to..

Actual Price To Be Determined

Billing does not occur until shipment is processed.

Official pricing and release dates have not been announced by the publisher. These are estimates only and subject to change. Worry Free Guarantee - if the price decreases between the time you place your preorder and the release date, you’ll receive the lowest price.

If I could roll those statements up like a newpaper and smack people on the head that think the system is actually going to cost 1,000 dollar I would do so with the biggest smile on my face. =/

its just a placeholder price.

They did the same thing with the 3ds, if you went to pre-order it before the price point was announced

[quote name='Drclaw411']What. The. fuck. This would make it the most expensive relevant console in recent memory. Why the hell would they estimate this? I intend to preorder somewhere...but hell...if it's that price...yeesh.

I really can't believe you fell for a place holder page. No one in their right mind would pay 1000 for a portable gaming system. Sony knows it. It will probably hit the market at 300-400 to make up for development costs then a year or so down the line it will hit 200. I am still pretty bummed that there is no more UMD drive. In that case I am pretty much going to be buying a PSP 2000/3000 soon.

I really hated those stories. The 3DS was also $1000 in Gamestop's system before Nintendo released the price. Thing was, the internet page for the 3DS never went live until the official price was announced and only the employee in store saw the placeholder price when a customer reserved in store. Somebody screwed this up on Gamestop's website and now all this happened.

I can't wait to see this on Fox News. "You won't believe what Nintendo expects you to pay for their latest video-software-station..."
