WTF? - Phantasy Star Online I & II Plus

Looks like a re-release which is great! I didn't have any luck getting the GC version (I wanted the 4 player split screen). Maybe I'll be able to get a copy of it now. Thanks for the heads up, as I haven't heard of it before now either.
It is a cleaner version. By 'cleaner' I mean some glitches and such are fixed.
You mean the ability to boot downloaded GC games has been fixed?
I read on IGN that it'll come with new quests and items. Its just a "patched" version.
That's still enough to send the price of PSO 1&2 down, most likely.

You know, that's what XBox Live is for.. why is Nintendo so afraid to go online? They could've saved hundreds of dollars by just releasing a patch, since anyone with PSO plays online anyways..

I don't really understand..

So this makes the what? the 50th different version of Phantasy Star Online 1 and 2? Are they really that good? I tried episode 1 and 2 on XBox but only got about 2 hours into it before i was bored.

this game has been out in japan for a while now....im glad they are gonna bring it stateside just for the reason im a pso nut and will buy it regardless.

it only has a few additions but just the box art alone is driving me crazy.
does this game have 4 player co-op?
I'm pretty sure it still has the 4 player modes of the original.

Wow this is great news for those of us who actually play our games.

I didnt have a cube the first time it came out and dont wanna pay crazy amounts to buy a used copy.

the split screen support was terrible, as far as I played it saved your level but not your position, so you'de have to start over in that damn forest ever time you booted up.

Am I the only one who would actually play this game if you didn't have to pay a monthly fee??? For as long as PSO 1 and 2 have been around, I believe it should be free now. Just my opinion...

Umm, an Xbox patch gets saved to the hard drive. I don't think there would be enough room on a GC memory card.

Plus, releasing a new version with minor patches makes them more money than releasing free patches.

Pimp, It's $8.95 a month to play online.

I may end up picking this up. Im pretty burnt out on the PSO series now though. I have been playing these games since the orginal Dreamcast game came out years ago. New items are always cool and if everyone is forced to be legit this could actually bring some fun back to PSO. But like every other verison of PSO somone finds a loop hole and starts duplicating items thus ruining the fun for alot of people.

Does the new GC version require you to play online? I know the first release did not. Where as the Xbox version did require you to play online.
Where as the Xbox version did require you to play online.
Not true. The Xbox version required you to actually have Xbox Live and a gamertag, but by no means were you required to play online. Kind of retarded that you had to have Live just to play offline as well, but that's the way it was.

The 4-player split screen camera angle looks better.

This sucks though, cause I just picked it up at EB for $35.

I wonder if you can transfer data for your characters.

I agree. I loved DC online gaming before they introduced monthly fees. I just don't think I get enough from the service to make it worth the cost.

That cover art is unofficial... I saw the actual art on ign somewhere. It looks exactly like the old cover, but with a blue background.

I might have to pick this up. That 8.95 monthly fee doesnt make me too happy but what the hell. I've always wanted to play GC online.

PSO Episode I and II Plus was released last year in Japan, so it is nothing new. Its basically a patched version of PSO. Also, there ARE NO NEW ITEMS.

The "new" content listed is just some added quests and levels that were only available online. So quests and levels that were previously only available online are now unlockable offline. This is great for people who don't go online as it means they can now access all the levels in the game.

This game would have been great if it had been released to the USA like LAST YEAR. For those of you that already have a copy of PSO, don't waste your money. Or is you are going to waste your money, pay the monthly fee for your old copy of PSO and go access all the "exclusive" PSO Plus stuff online for only $8.95 per month.

I'd only buy this game if I missed out on buying a copy of PSO before.

You should import the JP version. Cheaper HL. :)

New content:
-4 new offline quests: Seat of the Heart, East Tower, West Tower, and Central Dome Fire Swirl
-EP2 Challenge Mode
-Battle Mode stages 8 and 9
-Important glitches fixed, such as the duping glitch
-AR codes aren't supported!
-No double-save

I'm glad it's coming out, since the old one is so overpriced now. I've been looking for this game for awhile and am glad I don't have to fork over the ridiculous amount of money that it is going for on ebay.

I noticed today that the announcement seems to be spreading and prices for the original on ebay are already starting to fall.

Talk about raping your franchises, Sonic Adventure 2 Battle, Sonic DX, Sonic Mega Collection Plus, Super Monkey Ball Plus, Doesn't Sega have anything new?
lots of the downloadable content is on the disc, and the gba nights thing too and boring.
  I like how you stuck boring in. you just can't post a message without saying something sucks, now can you?

That wasn't just the split screen mode, that was every mode.
