I'm confused. What is the chronological order of the Metal Gear Solid series? Does it go MGS (PSX), MGS 2: Sons of Liberty (PS2), MGS 3: Snake Eater (PS2)? But... where did Substance and Twin Snakes come into play? Also, where is Subsistence going to work in?

Please help. :S

MGS3---MG---MG2---MGS---MGS2---MGS4

I think.

And Substance, Twin Snakes, and Subsistence have virtually the same story, as they are reissues of their respective game.

Substance is the new and improved version of SOL. It was made for the xbox then PS2 as well. Twin Snakes is a remake in SOL style of the original MGS for the gamecube.

I don't think you need to factor in things like Substance and Twin Snakes, since they're just expansions/revisions of the original canon games.

Twin Snakes didn't offer anything new to the original story (though its cinematics were fucking awesome) so you can factor that one out.

MGS 2: Substance has some extra mini missions called "Snake Tales" that aren't part of the official canon so that also doesn't count as anything extra.

MGS 3: Subsistance has a ton of extra stuff, including new "blooper"-type cinematics but they also aren't canonical.

So the basic chronology listed above is the main plot order:

when we say 'MG2' were not talking about snakes revenge for the nes right? That one had nothing to do with Kojima I think? MG2 was unreleased in the US, until its inclusion as an extra in Subsistence correct?
To be correct:

MG2 =Snakes Revenge

MGS2 = Sons of Liberty/Substance
Actually, that's incorrect. MG2 is not Snake's Revenge. Snake's Revenge didn't even have the Metal Gear title to it, it was just "Snake's Revenge" and Kojima had nothing to do with it at all.

Kojima created Metal Gear II: Solid Snake only available in Japan. That's what MG2 is, that's the storyline that is continued in Metal Gear Solid. Snake's Revenge is just ignored.
