WWE Smackdown vs. Raw 2011/WWE All-Stars

Which one has the Hall of Famers?

The New TLC match looks amazing. I hope they improved the HIAC match as well and the EC.

Is All Stars Wii exclusive? Just watched the All Stars portion. DAMN! That is only ugly looking game. Guys look like steroid out freaks mixed with the Incredible CGI Hulk. I do like the change of pace for gameplay with over the top moves and it looks fun. Graphics are just awful!

For the love of god, why can't they just give us a Legends game with the Smackdown engine?

From a business perspective, it doesn't make sense, I can't imagine that someone who has never played a Smackdown game is looking at Legends of WM or this and going 'shit yeah, I need to play that!'. Legends + Smackdown engine = lower overall cost, same amount of sales as a new engine.

This just reminds me of the EA Sports 'All-Play' disaster of last (?) year.

This just irks me so much, especially because it again means that if we get a Legends game, we likely won't get any in SvR2011.

im not liking the way the tables collapse even though he said it can collapse multiple ways. it looked like it just falls. what i mean is i want the table to do V shape not just crumple like cracker pieces

and the player models to me looks amazing but not best in the biz, and watching ortons chest all i saw was what looked like plastered on muscles

RKO off the ladder through a table on the floor was pretty amazing.

Dynamic physics.. cool.. now can we work on dynamic animations? I'm sick of seeing the same scripted animations. I'm pretty sure the animations, especially "in-pain" animations, have been the same since 2007.

All Stars looks atrocious. I guess they're going for the old WWF Wrestlefest-ish style, but man, visually it looks just ridiculous. The combos looks kinda cool, I guess. I can see this having a following from fighting game fans.. but I will not be purchasing this game (but in reality, I'm a sucker, so I probably will).

He was playing All-Stars on the 360 so I am going to assume it will be on all three platforms.

SvR 2011 however looks awesome so far. I like how you can drop out of moves in any direction now and the new physics engine on the weapons is a welcome addition. I hope they fix the breaking of tables and bending of ladders though because right now it looks kinda shitty. Plenty of time between now and October 26th though. I also hope to get a nice batch of NXT wrestlers in this years SVR, namely Barret, Kaval and Danielson.

Pretty sure the roster cutoff is at Wrestlemania, but I could be wrong. NXT wrestlers, if in the game at all, would likely be DLC.

Seeing as how poorly THQ and WWE have handled DLC for the previous SvR titles. I'd say we'll get Wade Barret and maybe Danielson.

I always thought the cut-off was more into summer (like, uh, now or so), so I'm hopeful that NXT guys make it in. I guess a lot depends on how much they spent tuning the engine, and how many resources were devoted to All-Stars (ugh, again).

Thinking, though, the roster hasn't had quite as many shake-ups this year, so it's possible they had time to create more 'new' guys. For the most part, with notable exceptions like Hart Dynasty and Sheamus, the 2010 roster is still pretty okay.

EDIT - one of the other things that I'm curious about (haven't seen the videos yet) is my assumption that they got a WWE edict to remove ECW from the game entirely. With the brand being dead, I can't imagine they'd leave any traces of it in, even with it being around for most of the year. Question is, does that translate to NXT or not? At least an arena, maybe, given that it's the same set.

I'd almost guarantee they will have the NXT arena as well as Superstars.

Well, it's not so much an "arena" as it is "changing the colors on the Titantron." I don't think that should require too much effort, especially since they never bother to change the color of the ring ropes.

/still pissed off we never got the red, white, and blue ropes for the Great American Bash set

That video made it seem like it was TOO easy to break the table and ladders. Could just be the way it was edited though.

And WWE All Stars?? Right now it gives me the same bad feeling that I got from Legends of Wrestlemania. If they want an "arcade-style" game I wish they'd just put something out on XBLA/PSN instead. Then they have a perfect excuse to do some fun, old-school visuals (or dare I say... "vintage"), thus being awesome and probably saving money in the process. I'd gladly pay $15 for an ultra-cheesy downloadable game that looks like Wrestlemania Arcade or In Your House. Instead they decide to crank out yet another retail title and make it ugly as sin. :whistle2:x

Legends of WrestleMania actually looked good to em. I liked the style. The game was decent, too, just not close to being worth $60. All-Stars looks terrible in general. I wonder if they're going to have legends like Hart, Jake Roberts, etc. or just newer departed stars like The Rock and Austin.

What you mean to say is that you will pay 15 bucks for a No Mercy from 2000 with New Wrestlers.

God knows I would.

the only thing ugly graphically about wwe all-stars is the skin on the rock's back or just all over in general

ive been watching wrestling for like 15 years and i don't recall ever seeing a ladder "break."

well, putting in that position and having weight fall on them like that i guess they can break, but from the video game they broke from simple setups. they look to break to easy in the game (from the clips).

Minor news taken from the Gamingring.com interviews of Brian Williams and Cory Ledesma.

1. You can edit downloaded caws in terms of entrance/moves. Confirmation was off the record.

2. You can place opponents up on the turnbuckle after they are in the corner to do more moves than just corner moves.

3. Finishers do not need the opponent to be groggy anymore. This leads to running RKO's and running codebreakers.

4. Moves no longer have an automatic pin. You are given a button prompt while doing the move if you want to finish it in with a pin or just release.

5. There is a new position for create a finisher. It is most likely going to be corner.

6. You can create Chaos Theory in create a finisher. See #5 as why it's going to be the new position for corner.

7. DLC is 50/50 of being in or not.

8. Front grapple moves will progress from quick moves to power moves. This way the Wrestler builds up the climax and hits more powerful moves as the match progresses. Strong Grapple Moves will be done in the Groggy state. This increases the amount of front moves you can do.

9. THQ is stressing that the online gameplay has been fixed and no more lag.

10. Over 100 new moves.

11. Struggle Submission has a very minor upgrade. A couple of new moves have been added including Ankle Lock.

12. New animations for CAF.

13. Rumors of create an arena/environment.

I would love to see an online league. Have a GM for each brand. Championship matches 1 a month at the PPV. Every secondary title gets defended once a week. Non title wrestlers wrestle for position and title shots. You can turn your wrestler heel or face. Tag team partners can turn on eachother in match, post match, etc.

I would love to just have the GM mode back like in 07 and 08. The create a story line feature last year bored the hell out of me.

Still, you said you have been watching wrestling for 15 years, and never recalled a ladder breaking. You were either lying, or have a bad memory.
editable downloaded CAWs?.. so I can change their theme!?
Nothing confirmed. Cory Ledesma stated off the record but didn't go into it. The interviewer stated that is what he wanted. Ledesma confirmed off the record but didn't go into details. It was basically a wink wink nudge nudge. He stated that the developers hated that about the last game and definitely wanted to change it.

Okay, this is going to be awesome.
Mmmmmmm. I need that game now.

I realize Hart is technically a current guy, but the young Hart being in the game is giving me hope for some more legends.

My one 'boo' moment when reading that? No more door on HIAC. I cheered when they added that, as I *hated* the old 'throw someone through the cage' conceit.

Everything else seems awesome.

Apparently, some cool surprise stuff was shown to the gaming press by THQ and it had nothing to do with SvR. Nothing could be revealed to me (met up with acquaintances at SummerSlam who are in the gaming media) due to them not being allowed to discuss it, but I'm highly intrigued.

I'm pretty excited that we can finally toss stuff into the ring from the outside and people can trip over the ring steps if you irish whip them into them.

I don't like that the HIAC door has been removed, and even worse, you can only break out one specific side of the cage. I could understand breaking one side of the cage in the match, but at least let me pick the side of the cage that I slam the guy through.

Bret Hart will be a Best Buy Pre-order exclusive. Although, I'm sure he will be available later for DLC.
fuck.

That's real great for those of us who want to pick it up day-one, but don't have a Best Buy within 70 miles.

I hope this isn't an indication of more legends being pre-order bonuses.

First batch of DLC will be available on the game's release which will be free for new copies of the game.

"SmackDown vs. Raw will be released on October 26, and purchased copies will come with downloadable content that includes WWE Chris Masters, a Rey Mysterio day of the dead costume, and a smokin' outfit for Kelly Kelly."

"WWE SmackDown vs. Raw 2011 will also boast the franchise’s largest online feature set to date, including a robust downloadable content (DLC) plan slated to include playable WWE Superstars, WWE Divas, alternate ring gear and new arenas
smiley.gif
. Online access and the game’s first DLC package, which is scheduled to include WWE Superstar Chris Masters® (playable character), WWE Superstar Rey Mysterio® (“Dia de los Muertos” Halloween-themed attire) and WWE Diva Kelly Kelly® (“Devil” Halloween-themed attire), will be free of charge with the videogame through a back of manual code for first-time purchasers. Second-time buyers can also purchase the content via Xbox LIVE® Marketplace for Xbox 360 at an anticipated cost of 800 Microsoft Points, as well as on PlayStation®Network for an anticipated cost of $9.99. Additional DLC packages, as well as their suggested price points, will be revealed later this year."

Only thing is, I will be getting it for the PS3 since I believe it's much easier to put music on the PS3 than the Xbox 360. If only you could put music on the 360 with a thumb drive.

Man I hope online play is actually decent as they claim. I still have doubts any sort of league would be possible, but just being able to play games online with some of you guys would be cool. I barely played last year's game because the online play ruined it for me.

I still can't figure out if they didn't patch it because they didn't have the time/money/giving of shit enough to do it, or if it was just fundamentally broken in a way that couldn't be fixed.

It's a shame, too, because I was really excited when we got that CAG league going, but that shit was just unplayable. Period.

I'm wondering why they're releasing avatar items for SvR 2010 tomorrow when the new game's coming out in 2 months. That caught me by surprise. I hope here's at least a Rated R Superstar or Straight Edge Society shirt and/or title belts.
