X-Men vs. Street Fighter Please Help!

Hi, I'm new here, I stumbled onto this forum while searching google for help with my copy of X-Men vs. Street Fighter for my saturn.
I'm having trouble getting the game to work. I'm using a US saturn with circular buttons and a 5 in 1 action replay card.
The game itself loads just fine, and it seems to work, however when I press the start button to get to the main menu, it just goes black and dosent do anything.
I know that both my saturn and action replay card work just fine,
I've used it on Marvel Super Heroes flawlessy with the 3mb ram mode activated. The disc itself is also in good condition so it can't be that either, any help?

I'd lean more tword the Action Replay. If the disc was bad, it would go back to the Saturn CD player menu with a 'disc reading error' instead of a black screen.

Yeah, it might be the action replay. Mine's was weird in that I couldn't boot up Vampire Savior unless I had booted up X-Men vs Street Fighter right before! I kinda tolerated it for a while but then got sick of having to start up XMvSF everytime I wanted to play Vampire Savior so I recently replaced my action replay. And now all goes swimmingly! :)

my copy came with a 4mb ram cart I generally just use that. Is your 5in1 labeled and everything? I know they're selling alot of offshoots on ebay right now that don't work very well. when you load the action replay are choosing no cheats ?

Yea, my action replay is labeled, and I actually bought it semi-new/kinda worn in a box, in a vintage gaming store. I enable the game with no cheats, and as I said before, the cart works just fine with Marvel Super Heroes, with the 3mb expansion mode enabled, so it's kind of weird. I have another action replay card that I believe is one of the older models that didnt work properly with 4mb games. I've heard of soldering methods to fix the incompatibility problems, does anyone have more info on this? Thanks for all the feedback by the way.

If you have an older model 4mb action replay, you can try the solder fix. If done right (and it's pretty easy), it should do the trick:
