Too bad I can't use this...I'm still in the middle of the Gold account I activated around Valentine's day. Ah well...enjoy, Silver members...

I would jump on this atm but I've been pretty busy as of late. Plus, I won't be getting Ghostbusters from Gamefly anytime soon.

yeah this sounds good. the number is easy to remember 1-800-4-MY XBOX. just keep saying customer service or representative. something like that. press 0 should take less than a minute to acquire someone. but they usually have live and billing Customer service representatives right away.
i just called to cancel the renewal. they kept on pushing their yearly plan on me ugh
If anyone else runs into that problem, just say you have a Live gold card and just don't want to get charged if you forget to apply the code when the $1 subscription expires. That's what I did because it's true.

Now the other question is, how do I remove the credit card tied to my Live account? Do I have to call again because it's not letting me do it online?
Would've jumped on this, but I don't have my 360 at the moment, and this thing activates immediately right?
Yes, it activates immediately. The OP indicated that it was only available yesterday. Does anyone who didn't get it still have the option, or was it truly a one-day-only deal?

Just did it now - 1 month for $1.00, good deal thanks for the post.
Are they in India?
Most likely, and when I was telling the lady my gamertag which has a bunch of i's in it. She would say, i as in India? :)

Last night I signed out of my XBL & signed in with the wife's. The $1 deal showed up immediately. I set her up-- hopefully we can both play Scene It online.

Forgive me for what I'm sure is a stupid question, but I don't have much experience with Live/Online play. Are you implying that in order for 2 people to play an online game on 1 360, both people need gold memberships? I always assumed that as long as someone with Gold was signed in, the other person would essentially be a guest, able to play, although possibly not able to get achievements (I also don't have much experience with achievements).

My memory is fuzzy, but IIRC, the time I played online & we tried to get her account to join the same game, it wouldn't let her on. I may have been doing it wrong though, dunno.

Funny enough my last 1-month card (found in a GTA4 used game case from GS...thanks!) expired today and I noticed the ad on the dashboard. I bit, and then came here knowing there'd be more details on it. After finding out the info about the auto-renewal bs, I phoned M$ and told them to turn it off. What do they do? Cancel my subscription altogether. I call back, get put on hold for 20 minutes, finally get someone who isn't a complete retard, and they re-credit a single dollar to my CC...I laughed at her. You seriously can't just give me a code or just change things so I have a 1 month subscription again? Eventually I got it straightened out, but god, what a bunch of morons. Soon enough I'll be able to recite the script each of them reads.

Many games will allow a guest to play, but they are signed in under your gamertag with something like (1) next to the name. They cannot do so under a separate tag. I know for certain games such as Halo 3 support this method.

Not sure if this was the right place to put this, but I didn't realize it and thought I should warn others. Just in case :)

Be aware that nowadays, the 12-month Gold cards are just that: 12 months.

Old 12+1 month bonus card:

New 12 month card:

The old cards were "12+1-month bonus". So while a lot of places like Target, BB, Amazon are having $39.99 and under sales on the 12 month card, be aware that it may be the 12month card, sans 1 month bonus.

As does Rockband if I remember correctly. But I have trouble trying to do that anyway.

Did/do you have to give a credit card to Microsoft for this? After the horror stories over the years, I will *NEVER* do that. Otherwise if it's still active, I might end up doing this. I considered it I guess two nights ago when I saw it on my dashboard, but couldn't really think what I'd use it for.

Good to know.

I want her to be able to play under her own avatar, so it's worth the $1 spent :)
