Please note:

  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console.  Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work.  Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance, but DLC cannot.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.  This requires being a paid subscriber or within a console-activated "1 month complimentary Gold trial" account.  Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.
  • All known sales and information on sales should make their way into the OP. Major Nelson usually updates his blog with new sales information every other Tuesday.
  • ALL OFFERS ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE! No information within this thread can or should be construed as accurate (or still valid), therefore ...
  • Always verify Xbox Live Marketplace prices before your purchase!
  • Spend wisely, have fun, and enjoy!

I'm thinking Diablo 3 might be a good buy at $35. Only want to go digital on games I know I'll put at least 100+ hours into. Seems like a good candidate. Can anyone comment on the controls and how they work in the game? I've never played on PC but that genre always seemed like it would be hectic on a controller. Watched the IGN review and it didn't really talk about it at all. Got good marks so I'm sure it works fine, would like to hear some CAG opinions on it though.

Ahh, I may pick it up again.

What are people's thoughts on Gears 3's RAAM Shadow DLC, is it worth $5? Also, how is Burnout Paradise? Is it worth it if I already have Forza Horizon?
Well its only 3 bucks, so its probably worth it. I've played them both and like them both a lot, Horizon is better (and probably deeper, if memory serves correctly) but Paradise is still a lot of fun. I say go for it on its price alone

i don't consider my steam library a backlog anymore, its a legacy to give my children and grandkids. i got gold krugerrands from my dad when i graduated college, my kids will get a humble bundle

i just hope before i die gabe allows you to split your steam library up so I can give my favorite granddaughter most of it and that inevitable bratty douchebag grandson a copy of rats
Lol! Post of the day right there! Oh how I can so relate. A 2TB drive is not nearly enough to hold my Steam and Origin backlogs. And like you, I don't think I'll ever finish my entire backlog in my life.

Anyway, back on topic. I am so in for the Forza 5 Car Pass. At $50, it was scary. At $30, it's a lot more reasonable. I might also get Valiant Hearts, since I keep hearing good things about that game.

My Steam library will end up having more worth than myself by the time I die. Any kids I end up having will be fighting for my vast Steam fortune.

Will probably take you a couple hours to play through it the first time on a medium difficulty without using too many easy mutators. I'd say it's worth it, though you may want to use the extra $2.50 and get the pass for the extra maps and unlocks for the other game modes. There are some stretches that harken back to the more atmospheric horror of the first game, and there are some good set piece battles. You can also fight as the Locust a couple times, which have some different attacks.

I'm a PC gamer at heart but I feel like D3 plays better with a controller. The console versions are very well done.

Plays great on the One. Really enjoyed my experience, will probably rebuy at $20 ala gamefly.

It would be great if we could get Jurassic Park The Game in celebration of the trailer leaking today, check it out if you can, the trailer alone is better than the whole third film.

:(

I actually thought the third movie was great, it's the second one (T.rex does San Diego) that is the black sheep of that franchise.

Ill give you that PS+ had better games last gen, but this gen the only full release game that you have gotten is injustice. The rest have been indie and arcade. Even for last gen I can't remember any big EA games in the last year. Wasn't BF3 given free in like July or August, a couple months before bf4?

For Xbox it's been even more lackluster last gen with no full release games yet this gen

And like many others have said Sony turned down this service as it is in direct competition of its own service. Stating that they didn't see the value at its release when they had 3 AAA games that cost $20 each during the best sale price along with Peggle was absurd.
EA offered Crysis 3 and Dead Space 3 during this past summer.

I take it your view on PS+ and GWG is that only retail titles are worthy of those services and that indie stuff is bad?

For me, EA Access has great value in the immediate short term and extremely terrible value over the long haul as I cannot imagine what the next free game they'll add to the Vault will be since they've exhausted their lineup, minus NBA Live 14. The longer it goes, the less appealing that lineup is going to be when sports games overwhelm it and you maybe get a new free games every few months instead of the monthly drip feed that PS+ and GWG offer because they're not limited to a single publisher's library. It seems like the best way to experience the service is to pay $5 for a month's worth of access to it as you binge play Peggle 2, Plants vs Zombies Garden Warfare, or Battlefield 4 when you don't care about owning them and want cheap access to some decent games. It's not like EA Access is going to have great sales like PS+ and GWG because older games will already be free and newer stuff will be too new to put on sale for any amount that I'd expect most people would pay instead of just waiting for the inevitable entry into the Vault. They've painted themselves into a corner that is way worse than PS+ and GWG because the games never stop being free with the sub, so you don't even need a constant sub to keep the library growing. Being a subscriber, I have zero reasons to buy any of their games on Xbox One if I'm not jonesing to play it right away, so they've effectively created a mobile-style Race to the Bottom situation with their own games that nobody else forced them into it. That's why I don't really see any value in EA Access that is close to what PS+ and GWG offers because there's variety and a reward for staying a subscriber, which isn't the case for EA Access.

Since microsoft was all, game sharing is bad and we're going to make the xbox one do this etc. to prevent trade ins Before the great retraction, why not offer all digital game sales at or a little below black friday prices? I would gladly sit, download and spend my credit on there but only if it was a deal.

I keep waiting to go digital but retailers don't make it cag friendly.
Digital most certainly IS cag friendly and probably the best deal in gaming right now...IF you can game share with someone. Most of the big hits my best friend and I share and split the cost. Most new releases $20-30

Ahh, I may pick it up again.

What are people's thoughts on Gears 3's RAAM Shadow DLC, is it worth $5? Also, how is Burnout Paradise? Is it worth it if I already have Forza Horizon?
It's good. Maybe two or three hours if I remember. Pretty fun ride with unique mechanics and a fun boss. You get Zeta Squad for multiplayer and Horde too. If you think you'll be interested in the online elements at all I'd recommend the Season Pass, ESPECIALLY if Raam's Shadow alone is already $5. For $2.49 more you get a bunch of new maps, characters, weapon skins, and new abilities in Horde Mode.

Online is still active too, everyone hated Judgement so 3 never died.

What's the difference between State of Decay and State of Decay: Lifeline?

Debating on this, Mirror's Edge, and the Gears of War 3 Season Pass (already own Raam's Shadow).

For some of us (i.e. crazy people) the prospect of playing Dragon Age and Mass Effect games a week before release is worth the cost alone. Then you've got the standing 10% discount on games and DLC; I saved $7 on Dragon Age Inquisition already and I'll be buying all of its DLC.

I agree that the Vault is in a difficult position because there just aren't that many EA games on Xbox One yet, so where are they supposed to pull new entries from?

:(

I actually thought the third movie was great, it's the second one (T.rex does San Diego) that is the black sheep of that franchise.
Actually I sort of agree with you, I liked the first 2 acts of the 2nd movie but yeah that the last act jumped the shark...or T-Rex? They actually had some ideas I read somewhere involving staying on the island and using motorcycles and hang gliders or something similiar which I think would have been a more exciting and satisfying conclusion to the film, and still keep the island secret from the public. I like the ideas of the 2nd movie but they didn't execute them well, especially how Vince Vaugn's character basically screwed everyone and led to most of the characters deaths because of it. Still I like what they tried to do overall, it just wasn't thought out coherently in spots.

The problem with the third film is that they were still writing it as they were filming it. The parents were horrendous, the mercs were done in right away, and it was left up to Sam Neill to carry some annoying kid for the rest of the short length of the movie. Still I like the set pieces and there were some nice bits throughout but I've always been disappointed with it. It's hard to believe that you would sink millions into filming a movie and not have a thought out story. If they added some more characters, cleaned up the ones they had, and made a better plot, hell my idea of a National Geographic documenting type expedition would have been better, than the film could have fared better. I think that's why it took this long to get another film.

I really like both William H. Macy and Tea Leoni :)drool:) so that elevates the third movie in my eyes. Plus I think it's just a simple, well-paced, good story with not a lot of flab. As for The Lost World I really enjoy the scene with the raptors stalking the humans in the tall grass, past that I just find very little to like in that movie.

it looks like there will be horrendous parents and potentially annoying kids with neat set pieces in this new movie too. lots of things checked off from the trailer.

It's only a few days early and you only get to play for six hours with no achievements available. It's nice as a demo, but paying for a demo is terrible. Mass Effect is so far out that I don't even consider it as an option for this service, so you're effectively paying for a Dragon Age demo. It was actually better on their EA Sports Ticket service last gen where you got to play as much of the games as you wanted when it was made available three (?) days before launch, though it was obviously limited to an even crazier group of EA Sports fans.

I just recently got Best Buy's GCU, so I can get an even better deal on the game at launch or whenever I want to get the game in the future.

That question is the $1 million question for this service. Will we see another free game in the next few months? Are they going to return to publishing indie games just to have something to give away since their yearly lineup is largely sports games + a few non-sports games? It seems like it'll stagnate as the new additional are drip fed to us after these first few months.

I'm not saying there's no merit to the service. It's great for the first month or two when you've got a bunch of games to play, but if you tire of them, there's not much else there to the service that makes it a great long-term investment. I could just pay the $5 for a month when Mass Effect comes out to play the demo, get it for a bit cheaper, and play the other new additions to the Vault and save myself $25 for the whole year's sub.

Fair enough, the actors aren't my favorite so I guess I have a bias, but maybe the script and direction could have been better. As far as flab, I wish they didn't have Laura Dern's character in that capacity, it just made for awkward moments with her family and her kid towards the end, I wish they had another character just off the island or someone who dropped them off fill in that role. The actual stuff on the island is pretty good but short and the plot with their son being on the island for 8 weeks to just be a weak motivation for the plot and unbelievable (yes in a movie with dinosaurs, it's still unbelievable)

All JP movies have kids, I prefer to judge things after I've experienced them. So far the trailer looked like it was trying some new ideas and realizing the park which was something that I was always interested in and was obviously to expensive in 1993 to convey.

with no achievements available.
That is a complete lie and people really need to stop spreading false information about stuff they have no clue about. The service makes games available 5 days before launch and you get 6 hours but other than one game, you unlock achievements as well.

This is inaccurate. It's the full game with achievements. Source: My Madden 15 and DA:I achievements. And to me, six hours seems like plenty. You can easily determine if you're interested enough to buy a game in that time. Or, you might even get all you need out of it. I'd say it's much more than just a demo.

For sure, EA Access is less appealing if you have no interest in sports games, since they make up the majority of the Vault. But I still think it would be worth it, even without taking those into consideration. PvZ, Peggle, NFS, BF4. For $30/year, between the Vault and the early access, I think it's a solid value.

State of Decay is the main game, and Lifeline is DLC/Expansion.

Have you played Mirror's Edge? What are your thoughts on it? The demo kind of made me queasy but the inner CAG in me wants to buy it :whistle2:k

Now I remember why I didn't like Mirror's Edge: Crappy controls.   Nice, dizzying graphics but these controls are awful. I can't even get past the training level and stopped where you have to do triple jumps from one wall, onto a pipe, and climb up to a higher ground.

Don't be tricked into blind buying this game at $2.99 and try the demo first.  I get the feeling Crysis is a better game and costs the same.

Better yet, buy Bulletstorm or spend an extra 74 cents on Max Payne 3 and get some challenge modes and multiplater in return.

EDIT: Ironically I typed this out while Masters_93 posted.

Thanks for the feedback on State of Decay. I think I'll wait on the DLC and get the base game only.

Mirror's Edge probably has some the best controls out of any console game this past generation. They're complicated yes, but once you have them down you have more control over every minute thing than any other game I've played. My biggest fear for the sequel is the rumor of dumbed down controls.

The only negative I see is the motion sickness the game causes in some, but I don't know if they could really avoid that with the first-person view.

It would be great if we could get Jurassic Park The Game in celebration of the trailer leaking today
Why would you wish that on anyone? That game is a horrific piece of crap. I tried it out for the easy achievements since I restarted gamefly for $1 a month years ago. It was made by Telltale and my line of thought was "it can't be that bad as others say." Boy, was I wrong.

The quick time events KILL this game. I don't care enough to get into detail to break down the level of sucking this game does, just know the pace of the story(what little it has) is ruined by QTE trial and error, graphics look like an earlier 360 game, no replay value at all, etc. I still feel more shame playing that horrid game than My Horse & Me 2. At least that game was entertainingly bad so I could enjoy it. There is nothing to enjoy in Jurrasic Park: The Game.

From the dashboard title, it appears Grand Theft Auto (not clear which one) will likely be a part of the deal for this weekend.

Hooray. More GTA stuff........again. According to xbldb, GTA IV has been on sale 4 times already this year with it discounted less than a month ago. Joy

The Xbox.com Black Friday countdown apparently briefly had this weekend's XB1 sales up early this morning. Someone managed to get a screen grab and started another topic.

Good luck. I got laid off back in August. I thought I could burn through some of my backlog while enjoying my severance / unused vacation pay. Then FXX's SImpsons marathon happened. Bought a laptop to help with the job search - free Windows 8 games with achievements. New TV season. Borderlands Pre-Sequel. Smash Bros. Pokemon Omega Ruby / Alpha Sapphire. My backlog is worse now than back in the summer. Least I'll be starting a new job in the next couple weeks, so I'll have the money to buy more games, and perhaps an XB1, but even less time to play them. Ah, first world problems.
The funny thing was I had a manageable video game library before I was unemployed. I found this website and bought more games than I had time to play even without a job. But even though I am working again this website has changed the way I buy games and I will never catch up.

And that's the main problem. Do we really need to push 3 buttons to jump over one wall? There's only one game where I consider that acceptable; it's called PaRappa The Rapper.

Now here I am at a jump sequence where it tells you to "coil up" even though the person you follow makes it look like a regular jump over barbed wire. So now we have to push two shoulder buttons (LT and LB) to jump across a platform? Well OK going from 3 buttons to 2 is progress. Problem is holding LT (as the instructions say) causes a slide so I'm constantly falling.

If "dumbing down" means you push one button to perform one action, then I welcome it.

Burnout Paradise requries the Live Camera to max out and has lots of overpriced DLC (like $30 worth I wanna say?) if you're a completionist. Never played Horizon though so I can't compare. Graphics are probably pretty dated on BP at this point. Very arcadey gameplay style.

Just got home and checked on my x1 the price for UFC. Came up at $13.20 and was able to purchase it for that price. Hoping i can get a few of my friends to buy it too

So I'm looking at the Killer Instinct season one ultra pass at $20 ...I bought the combo breaker pack for $19.99 some time ago under the impression that if I wanted all the extras it would be another $20 ...now that the ultra pass is $20 total shouldn't it be free for those that bought the combo breaker pack or am I missing something here

No? They've run discounts from time to time that allowed you to upgrade at a lower price but I don't think they're just giving it to anyone now.

So basically if you bought the combo breaker pack before then you're screwed and have to pay full price regardless of the sale? The only discount I remembered seeing was when season 2 first came out for $35 or so

Different strokes I guess. When the whole game's focus is "parkour simulator" I don't have a problem with it being more involved. The main positive it brings is that it opens up options to experiment and go about moving in different ways, as well as taking different paths. If it was too simple the game would lose it's luster. It's part of why the game is somewhat of a cult classic.

Simplified movement would be fine if it were a tradional FPS, but it's not.

mirrors edge is one of my favorite games, but i didn't like the demo when i first played it

once you get used to the controls i couldn't stop playing it, there were parts where i literally failed 100 times but it never felt frustrating to me

i think it's one of those games that feel rewarding as you progress

It looks like it since that upgrade discount seems to only exist when they've put it on sale.
