The money you put on from like XBL cards should never expire but all promotional credit expires after one year after being added to your account though some (like what I have) can be set to expire at a certain date.

Considering LEGO games are always on sale I would wait, 25% off isn't worth buying digital IMO.

 
I know it's been said that "Oh, people that the sales are terrible EVERY year" but I don't think I have been that disappointed for any end-of-year sales until now. I have grabbed a ton of Arcade games from year-end sales and always been pleased with them.

This year I got Dance Central Spotlight and that was it...
This was the worst of the year-end sales by far.
 
I don't think people can be too upset. They reduced the prices of consoles for 3-4 months. The market for Xbox One games is still pretty high. Used games are fetching $40+ on ebay. It's all about supply/demand. 

 
I think it was last year we got Ultimate MvsC for about $3. That was awesome. I actually got a lot of games during last years sale so I can't really complain when I already have all the games on sale. There's still plenty I'd like to see on sale for the One though, so I'll save my complaining for when those don't go on sale.

Except the 360 sale was bad too. There's no need to be an apologist, this was a very disappointing countdown sale.

I agree. I don't think Xbox One owners should be too upset. Free games every month and then this being the first Holiday countdown sales for the new consoles helps set the grade for sales to come.

However, 360 got the shaft when these countdown sales have been good to awesome in the past. Some examples that just really bug me -

  • 90% off games in years past, i.e. like Marvel vs Capcom 3 as someone mentioned before(arcade and retail/digital games)
  • At least four titles/dlc every day on sale compare to one thing which happened multiple days this sale
  • Summer of Arcade games being 50-75% off
  • Repeat sales from months ago but not at the discount it was before(AssCreed Liberations at 50% when it was 80% off not too long ago
  • Putting Games with Gold freebies from a month ago up for sale(Raven/that's a big fuck you to me)
It just stinks cause the 360 marketplace has 9 years of content that could possibly get a price slash during the "best deals of the year" and we get Slender for the umpteenth time this year?? I think disappointment is true summary of how this sale went down. And now that I feel like I'm beating a dead horse over and over, I'm done with these sales. Ugh

Well, I got something that's been eating away at me. If I should pick up Killer Instinct Complete Collection at 60 bucks as opposed to the 80 bucks it is usually. 

The bundle includes 16 Characters, all costumes and all that good stuff that comes in it. It also includes the two KI Arcade games.

Depends on how desperate you are to play it. I believe there's been murmurs about a season 3. So I could see this bundle going cheaper, or down the road a complete package being this same price or cheaper. I'm happy to wait until its the full experience,

Well, I got something that's been eating away at me. If I should pick up Killer Instinct Complete Collection at 60 bucks as opposed to the 80 bucks it is usually.

The bundle includes 16 Characters, all costumes and all that good stuff that comes in it. It also includes the two KI Arcade games.

Depends on how bad you want it. Season 1 Ultimate Edition hit $20 last month, should see that price again. Season 2 will eventually start going on sales getting lower and lower. I really wanted KI at launch but I waited and got S1: UE for $20, now I can play that and wait until S2 hits $25 or lower. Which would be cheaper than going all in at once. That's just how I look at it.

I was just playin Watch Dogs last night too, if that Bad Blood dlc drops to $5 then i might pick that up. I beat that dlc on PS4 and it was pretty good.

So, I'm sure this has been asked/answered several times now, but....

Just got my external hard drive for my One, how should I use them?

Should I move everything to the external? Save nothing to internal until I have to? Or?

It's slightly faster I believe on the external depending on the drive.

If I move my system around I basically put all the main games on the system and all the backlog/games I don't play much on the external.

But if the system is stationary I keep a majority of the titles on external because of the slightly faster load times.

I do it the opposite way, fill the internal than let the rest start going to the external after its filled.

Meh...what's going to be on sale on the 360 tomorrow? Hope its not just the dlc's we already heard about?

I have Dead Rising 3 and would love the DLC. I also want Titanfall season pass for the One and I really want to double dip and get Titanfall 360 now too.

Move everything to the external.

Couple of reasons for this:

1. You have to pick a default install location for all future installs of games, apps, updates, etc. Granted, you can always change this later, but going forward, it's easier to have everything going to one spot.

2. The Xbox One's operating system runs off of the internal. Keeping as much free space as possible on that drive is going to make things run smoother overall.

EDIT:
There's also a 3rd reason, that just came to mind:
Having everything run off of the external will save on wear and tear on the internal. If the external fails, simply replace it. If the internal fails, you'll have to get the Xbox One serviced, (at least in most cases, you will have to. I'm not counting those people out there who take Xbox Ones apart).

I'm new to the One and didn't plan on getting one so my research has been nil. Can any external be used or are there any specific parameters that are better or necessary such as limits on size, rpm etc?

Any external with USB 3.0 can be used. If you navigate couple of pages back, you should see a post by Eldritch that is more comprehensive on what to look for or what can be used. But it can be external or portable drive - I have an external and works fine.

Basically. Your main choices are capacity, brand (Western Digital and Seagate are really the only players now), and whether you get one that's USB powered or AC powered (doesn't make much difference if only used on the One).
