Please note:

 • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console.  Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work.  Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance, but DLC cannot.
 • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.  This requires being a paid subscriber or within a console-activated "1 month complimentary Gold trial" account.  Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.
 • All known sales and information on sales should make their way into the OP. Major Nelson usually updates his blog with new sales information every other Tuesday.
 • ALL OFFERS ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE! No information within this thread can or should be construed as accurate (or still valid), therefore ...
 • Always verify Xbox Live Marketplace prices before your purchase!
 • Spend wisely, have fun, and enjoy!

I have never played the original Resident Evil gam because by the time I became interested in the franchise (when 4 hit the Wii) the original was long out of print and I had no desire to get a Playstation and hunt down a copy etc etc. so my question is would I enjoy this remake if I liked 4 and 5 and Revelations? I didn't like 6 or ORC, those games were digital poop by Crapcom. I miss when hey still made games worth playing that aren't fighting games. Thanks in advance to anyone who responds. :)

Assuming they maintain the spirit of the game and don't make it 5/6 in RE1 clothes then yeah you probably would. I haven't followed it much but I'm assuming they'll do some modernization and hopefully it will stay in the 4/Revelations camp.

its the same version as the gamecube one. You have very limited inventory and puzzles that you'll probably need a walkthrough for. It has the tank controls and stuff like that. For me i dont enjoy the old re games anymore, they havent aged well for me cause RE 4 made everything so much better,

I bought the remastered Resident Evil when it released on the Gamecube. Never played it. I bought it on clearance after it was released on the Wii. Never played it.

I bought Resident Evil 4 for the Gamecube. Never played it. Same for the Wii release (on clearance). And the 360 (on sale).

Also have Code : Veronica X (360), RE Zero (Gamcube and Wii), and the Umbrella and Darkside Chronicles. Never played them.

I bought Resident Evil 2 for the N64 (first RE game I owned). Played a little bit of it. :whee:

I bought Resident Evil 5. Played the first level or so. Got the DLCs when they were on sale.

I think I may have a problem, though I think I'm in good company here.

It's just a remaster...they're not changing gameplay, just updating graphics.

For me it's the other way around. RE1 and RE4 have the same controls, but the camera is different. In RE1 it looks and feels like a dated game and i'm fine with that....but RE4 has the modern over the shoulder camera yet still has the same tank controls.

I got an Xbox One on December 19th for my birthday and I already have roughly 30 games for it already. Do I have the time to play all of the,? Nope. So I definitely believe I am part of that good company. Lol

Worth noting that the new REmake also adds the option for a new non-tank control scheme. Not sure if the new controls work well, but it's a cool idea.

Holy shit... Updated Shadows of Mordor last night. 2.8 GB patch... Hadn't played in a while. I just couldn't get into the game. Maybe I'm wrong, but it seems like they added a TON of shit in the game. I'm totally into it now.

I love that game, just can't play it with my 3 year old cuz I don't wanna be up all night if he has nightmares. Which means I only get to play it very late at night. That and Sunset Overdrive have been my favorite games lately.

I have about 7gb of space on my XOne hard drive right now. Gotta save up some $$ for an external.

I wonder how that would work. Part of the game design was that the camera changing would not really affect the character control because up was forward and down was backward, so regardless of the camera changing you'd still be going in the appropriate, chosen direction. Altering those controls seems like it'll just cause frustration to appease people who just need to learn a new (or really just old) setup.

whatd they add?
I think they added a bunch of quest/collectible kind of stuff (at least, I hadn't seen it before). The fighting seems (to me) to be greatly improved. I don't know. Maybe that stuff was in there before... I hated the game when I first played it and when it installed the patch last night and I went in I thought "Was all this shit here before?"... LOVING the game now. I'm having a blast in it.

And yeah, Donken - Mordor and SO have been the best things I've played on the X1. I'm up to like 900 Achievement on SO. I play it now just to run challenges and shoot stuff. I'll pick up the SP when it goes on sale eventually.

Played some of that Funk of Titans, its ok but it looks like a mobile game. Its a Bit Trip runner clone, future gwg

Styx is highly praised but I passed on it because I'm lot a huge fan of stealth games. Max is mediocre. I wouldn't pay any more then $5 for it. $5 seems like a good price.
I actually enjoyed Max. Would have easily have paid $5 for it if I hadn't gotten with GwG.

Styx got a 5/10 from Gamespot and has a 69 average on Metacritic so not really sure I'd say it's highly acclaimed. It still sounded interesting though so I'm on the fence on it. I had wished Thief had been a better game (the original still brings back memories and awesome stealth mechanics). Styx might scratch that itch even though it is looks like a late Xbox or early 360 game and not One caliber.

I was just going by all the people in this topic wanting Styx sorry.

Gamespot is also also the single lowest review on Metacritic, almost all across all three platforms are 70+, the rating on Steam is overwhelmingly recommended and most users seem to enjoy it. I don't expect it to be perfect but it looks fun still with the biggest knocks on it being that the combat is bad, the game is hard, and you'll die a lot. So to me that sounds like a game rated in the 70s or low 80s which is where most reviews fall. I'm happy to take the plunge at the sale price.
Wait, people actually have faith in Gamespot and IGN review scores?!

I hope not. I stopped visiting GameSpot all together. It is a bummer most gaming sites have a bias or possibly lack integrity. Supposedly Reuters scored them and ign under 15 out of 100 for journalistic integrity. National enquire scored something like 38.

I appreciate the fact that Joystiq has a policy against accepting anything from publishers (they don't accept gifts, airfare, hotel rooms, meals, etc.). They also give away their review copies of games (after they review them). I don't always agree with their views, but I at least like their policies.

That being said, I do think people are too hard on sites like IGN and Gamespot. I fully agree that there are questionable relationships, perks, etc., but I don't think it is nearly as bad as many people would like to make it out to be.

So the Resident Evil HD Remake is available for preorder on Xbone. Does anyone know if there are any bonuses, or any other reason to preorder it, aside from just being able to preload?

I like reading ign, GameSpot and others for different perspectives of games, if you read a few, you'll find each pick up on separate nuances in a new release. Although I can't say I ever base my purchasing decisions on reviews.

Funk of Titans is more a Rayman Fiesta Run clone than Bit Trip Runner, but they're all in the same genre - endless runners with distinct levels. It's pretty fun IMO, and supposedly the Achievements are easy (I haven't gotten that far into it).

Except that the tank controls are optional now if you'd read anything at all about the game coming out.

I can't speak to what other people make of those sites, but I would not be surprised if the Reuters score resembles key points regarding the sites integrity. Keep in mind this is more based off of articles, and less so reviews for me. Reviews are so subjective anyway I find out for myself.

I have held out on GTA5 after I found out it was coming to x1 and ps4, and I suppose I'll continue to wait. I would drop a 20 on one of those versions. Sigh.

Yeah but I like the other comment in this thread about how the non-tank controls will be implemented. It's a good question. It sounds like it's going to play like the original Devil May Cry on the PS2 and that was a mess. You'd walk past one invisible point on a pre-rendered map with a fixed camera and all of a sudden the camera would shift to a new position and you'd be left pushing the analog stick in the wrong direction. I don't see what they can do other than that. I would rather have the tank controls.

Can't recall what game it was but I've played something that had fixed camera angles and directional controls where there was a slight delay so you could readjust without breaking stride.

I think there is a version of Resident Evil 2 without tank controls. Maybe I'm thinking of a different Resident Evil. It still used the weird camera angles, so it had to be before 4 or a remake.

The CAG reviews in this thread is xbldb and Major Nelsons blog. Once those review sites say it's 75% off or higher we buy it and may or may not play it.
