  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console.  Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work.  Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance, but DLC cannot.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.  This requires being a paid subscriber or within a console-activated "1 month complimentary Gold trial" account.  Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.
  • All known sales and information on sales should make their way into the OP. Major Nelson usually updates his blog with new sales information every other Tuesday.
  • ALL OFFERS ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE! No information within this thread can or should be construed as accurate (or still valid), therefore ...
  • Always verify Xbox Live Marketplace prices before your purchase!
  • Spend wisely, have fun, and enjoy!

I've been on the fence about grabbing that, I just might do it now.
It's great if you want a funky, upbeat platformer. The color mixing mechanic is unique, or at least I haven't seen other games do it- you have to be the correct color to damage certain enemies, activate switches, etc. The second game added sidescrolling sections when you go in buildings; there's also co op but it's nothing to write home about: if I remember right it's basically Mario Galaxy co op. Best part of the game has got to be the music: it's dynamic, as in the level starts off chill, low tempo, just one or two tracks playing, until you get going and then things get added on. Every time you paint something it solos, each color is associated with a particular instrument. There are a few songs you can pick for each level, so in that way it lends itself to some variety during replay. Also there's a shit ton of collectibles, and it's actually kind of tough to get everything, because while mostly things are out in the open, occasionally they'll tuck something away and you'll have no idea you even passed it until you're at the exit and haven't found all the things. That can be a little annoying if you're a completionist, fair warning. Other than that I've got no real gripe with the game, and would heartily recommend.

Neverwinter felt very meh.
Yeah, I had the same impression. The combat was okay, but the chintzy graphics and rough UI just give it a cheap, unpolished feel. I saw some console gameplay of Elder Scrolls Online and the difference is just night and day in terms of polish. I also read that there's a big gulf between how geared you can be for free and what you can pay for. :/

The Neverwinter impressions are another reason developers shouldn't bring a closed beta to players because they don't understand the production cycle, what they're testing, etc. They simply assume it's the game.

They should really just stop releasing games with the alpha and beta tags nowadays since people today don't understand what that even is. Either do a proper screening questionnaire forcing applicants to detail their knowledge of what testing is and/or force them to provide feedback at constant intervals.

Alas, it'll never happen and people will think betas are demos of the full release game. sigh

Well it surely isn't my first rodeo, pal. It's annoying that people just assume it's a finished product, I'm actually pretty impressed with it. It's part of the ID@xbox games, correct?

Diablo 3 UE is all I need on Xbox one. I'm still loving that game and it has no micro transactions.

Loving the drop system in it now.

Neverwinter is fun. It seems kinda sluggish and repetitive and first, but once you start doing instances, multiple quests, roaming around finding all kinds of different monsters unlocking all kinds of cool magic, it gets fun. I don't know where is the "pay-wall", but I gladly play until then.

Does anyone know how long they will hold your pre-ordered game at a B&M Microsoft store if you cannot pick it up on launch day?

Closed beta for a game that has already been released on PC and Xbox One. I doubt much will change outside of fixing translation errors. Hopefully bugs and server issues will also be fixed.

I'm a bit bummed that I didn't get a beta invite for Neverwinter given that I've been doing game testing since the 80s. :( Does anyone happen to have an unused key for an old fart?

Except that Neverwinter has been out for over a year on PC and I played it there as well and this beta is the game.

This game has been out since 2013 on PC already. The game is the game. What's being tested in this beta is whether it runs on Xbox.

And for the record I like the way they've translated the controls from the keyboard to controller, it fits well with the style of the game the way they did it.  It's that the game is kind of tedious and that you can't be a strictly free player and that it's really pay to win makes me not want to put any time into it.  If it was a level playing field I would at least consider giving it some time but it's a basically finished product and over it's life on PC has shown no indication of changing.

ESO has had huge issues but at least seems to make the effort to listen to it's players and outlined a B2P model that they can make money off of without alienating players that don't want to pay after the entry cost.

I bought and I've started playing Life Is Strange and I have to admit, this is what Telltale games should play like. The game doesn't stutter and the movement isn't jarring at all. Other than the horrendous lipsync and some of the dialogue, it seems like a very interesting game.

If it's not stuttering and spazzing out on me how will I know I'm playing a TT game though?

The more I play the Neverwinter beta, the less Iike it. There was something oddly compelling about it at first but after putting another couple hours into it last night, I think I'm done with it. Does anyone feel like it gets much better after putting more time into and that I'm just being impatient?

Tossed some likes out for the D3 love! I'm a pretty big Blizzard nerd and couldn't be happier with the ports to console.
Yep. It was the first game I platinumed on PSN... then I bought it again on the Xbox One to do it all over again. Couldn't be happier doing it :)

I've probably done around 10ish hours of it and I still really enjoy it, did the first dungeon with a group yesterday and that was pretty cool. Looking forward to seeing more of the later stuff, but not sure if I want to work towards it now or wait for the actual release since we probably have to start over then.

Didn't the beta end last night?

Beta was supposed to end last night at midnight I saw a message up while playing it yesterday.  I was pretty impressed, not sure why somebody wouldn't be.  It's a F2P MMO so I'd have to assume those not impressed are those which the game isn't meant for to begin with.  My friends play(ed?) it a lot on PC and always wanted me to join in but never gave it a shot...definitely a decent game and unless they change it a ton my friends said they really felt huge pressure to make any in game purchases.

I have a feeling that achievements will make the game much more fun. I'm sure knowing that your characters won't transfer might also be ruining your fun. You'll have to redo everything when the game comes out.

I for one dont mind doing all the stuff all over; I didnt get the hang of managing the inventory much. I did have fun and it is the kind of game I generally like - Diablo III, Dungeon Seige and so forth - so I will definitely get the game when it comes out.

I really don't mind that. The problems I do have probably aren't even the game's fault but more the fault of laggy wi-fi. When I kill an enemy, they don't "drop loot". It's more like "fling loot to the other side of the screen and go chase it". My character will be running forward towards some enemies, the game will pause for a second or two, then suddenly I'll shoot forward and be on the opposite side of them. It's disorienting and near constant. I'll hit a normal enemy five or six times and his health bar won't go down at all, then he'll drop dead.

Hopefully this can all be chalked up to my connection or the beta-ness of the game, and I'll definitely give it a shot after the official release. I did have fun with it for a while. Either way, I won't complain (anymore) about a free game.

We'll end up getting this:

Well, this is slightly worrying. Looks like retail Evolve only has 2 game modes, the same 2 from the most recent beta.

I hope I don't get bored of this game too fast :/

Huh? I thought it had nine?
Well, it has the short skirmish/single game play one that is just Hunt and then the other mode is Evacuation which has the other game styles within in, but you still have to go through 5 games in a single match.

Was hoping for more than just those 2.

The wikipedia page says there are four modes with each offering two different methods to play them:

Game modes[edit]

  • Hunt: The Hunters must kill the Monster before it can destroy the power relay located in the map. The Monster must reach stage 3 in order to destroy the relay, though it can also opt to kill all of the Hunters.[7]
  • Nest: Six Monster eggs are located in random locations on the map. The Monster must protect them from the Hunters for 10 minutes, and can hatch one of the eggs to spawn a minion to help it. The Hunters must destroy all six eggs, as well as any minions, within the time limit to win.[8]
  • Rescue: Injured colonists trying to escape the Monsters are placed randomly on the map. Hunters need to locate, revive and protect them as they make their escape. The monster needs to kill as many of these colonists as possible and keep them from getting away. Whoever saves—or kills—five colonists first wins.[9]
  • Defend: A starship's refueling station comes under the assault of a player-controlled fully evolved monster and smaller Goliath minions. The hunters must stop the monster from causing a catastrophic accident by protecting the power generators until the ship is fully powered, while the monster must destroy two generators to reach the ship's power source.[10]
Evolve provides two different structures to these game modes: Quick Play, which enables single matches; and Evacuation, which serves as a five-match multiplayer story mode. In Evacuation, each subsequent match gives the winning side an advantage in the next map (such as a destroyed power plant releasing toxic gas the monster is immune to or a saved one powering autonomous turrets to assist the hunters), ending with a Defend match.[11]

havent played it yet but Evolve seems like fun but dont look like it will last long

seems like it might get boring quick

Does anyone know how long they will hold your pre-ordered game at a B&M Microsoft store if you cannot pick it up on launch day?
I can't give an exact answer, but I can say a few years back I picked up my Battlefield 3 pre-order with either that year's Call of Duty or Gears of War. Either way it was a little over two weeks later and they even gave me a GC which was part of a promotion for people who picked up their pre-order at a midnight release.

All day, I have been checking my accounts to see where I pre-ordered Evolve from; finally I went to my email for something else and there is an email from Dell, saying that my order has been shipped and it'll be here on the 10th. Phew! :)

I didnt have that overwhelming feeling that I am playing an awesome/fun game - when I tried my hand at the beta ( I already pre-ordered by then ). It probably because I am not much of a multiplayer-kind; or it may just be the game itself.

So, I will most likely trade it in pretty soon.
