Please note:

  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console.  Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work.  Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance, but DLC cannot.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.  This requires being a paid subscriber or within a console-activated "1 month complimentary Gold trial" account.  Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.
  • All known sales and information on sales should make their way into the OP. Major Nelson usually updates his blog with new sales information every other Tuesday.
  • ALL OFFERS ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE! No information within this thread can or should be construed as accurate (or still valid), therefore ...
  • Always verify Xbox Live Marketplace prices before your purchase!
  • Spend wisely, have fun, and enjoy!

My rant - NBA Live 15 is alot of fun and worth the $9. While 2k may be the better version, you get tired of year to year updates with no real updates or innovation. So now is the time to switch over for under 10 and enjoy Live. I've put in a lot of time into 15 and you won't be disappointed.
How is the franchise (or whatever they call it) mode?

Does it have to be online all the time and if it goes offline for even a second do you lose all progress and access to most features and game modes? Also is there a broken universal currency system designed to drive microtransactions?

So get the latest version of 2k and don't buy the next couple of years versions. Doesn't make sense to buy the worse version just because it isn't much better than last years game.

Then there's, you know, the fact that one is $60 and one is $10. I mean, if that matters to you. It does to me.

Watched a little bit of NBA Live 15 on Twitch and it actually looks really good, now how it plays its really hard to tell from a stream. Probably still won't buy it but hope it joins ea access

NBA Live 15 is coming to EA Access isn't it? Last time I checked it still wasn't there but I thought it had been confirmed.

With Access, I'm not planning on buying any EA sports games. And will think twice on others if I'm not dying to have it.

Except the NBA 2K games are getting worse each year.
I don't really care either way about basketball games I have my hands full with fifa and nhl. Was just pointing out that it's pretty unanimous that the 2k series is better that even an older one might be better than a new one from a series that has been on hiatus for awhile due to it being so inferior.

In fact it was so good that it drove EA out of the basketball game business until just recently. But, for $10 even I might consider grabbing live.

The NBA Live games weren't that bad then, as they had a Metacritic of about 80. They just tried a rebranding with a new creative lead and it failed big time. The sports gaming scene is in such a weird place that it's really hard to put out a #2 product that's worth the cost to produce because the audience typically abandons them in droves when one starts separating itself, which creates exclusivity without the need for an exclusive deal. Of course the new games are inferior, as they didn't have the luxury of just building upon the same engine and assets that they've used for years.

How is the Killer Instinct Complete Collection?

In Australia, they are charging $65.97 as the sale price. Still worth it at this price?

Also Killer Elite good for $20?

I go back and forth with Live and 2K and always enjoy Live a little more. Sure it's missing some bells and whistles that 2K has, but I just have more fun with it. They absolutely NAILED the arenas and presentation too.

If you missed out on getting Chariot as a Games with Gold title last October, you're in luck! We're about to stream the game for 90 minutes tonight and giving out codes for Xbox One, Playstation 4, and Steam codes. Please check it out.

If you like fighting games, don't miss the sale price. Killer Instinct is great and they keep updating it and adding new characters, etc. Plus you get the two classic games, and Killer Instinct 2 Classic is still quite good.

For those interested in Live, if you subscribe to EA Access, their facebook account has mentioned more than once that it's coming "soon" on the service.

Nice to know, still haven't tried EA Access yet.

Off-topic: Boo FIU! Go FAU! (lol jk :p)

I don't really care either way about basketball games I have my hands full with fifa and nhl. Was just pointing out that it's pretty unanimous that the 2k series is better. In fact it was so good that it drove EA out of the basketball game business until just recently. But, for $10 even I might consider grabbing live.
2K has definitely verged into where Madden was when 2K lost football. Poor jump to the next gen, stagnating and increasingly broken game, experimenting with a user unfriendly micro transaction model, and alienating most of it's fan base that's still buying the game because it's the only option. Now though you also have to contend with them shutting down the servers quicker than they used to and in the case of 2K that basically even breaks the "offline" experience as most of the content requires you to be online at all times this generation.

Sports games aren't in a great place right now or handling the transition gracefully.

Assuming NBA Live 15 demo is representative of the full game I like this more than 2K.

Overall it doesn't look as good as a whole as 2K but the player models look great and slightly less weird than 2K's.  They seem to have stopped trying to reinvent the basketball game and just settled for a basic 2K clone which is fine and it's slightly simpler but more fun to play so far.  The ESPN presentation isn't quite as refined but at least it doesn't have disjointed product placement and sideline reports and stuff constantly.  The menus can't be any worse than 2K's so that's a point in it's favor without even seeing them.  A couple weird things happened during the demo game but it was still a fraction of the WTF that happens during an average game of 2K.  All in all from the demo I'm pretty sold and will almost certainly be picking it up much to my surprise.

wtf.. i got a mail from microsoft telling me that al the money i have i my MS account will just disappear at the start of June. What the hells that about? How can they just delete your money/MS points? I think i have aout $70 in there, not sure what i want to waste it on

Is it all credit from a promotion? That has expiration dates, money from prepaid cards doesn't.

There's a way to check it in your account but I'm on my phone in bed and don't remember the steps of the top of my head. If no one else points you to it I'll try to remember to look in the morning.

I hate that policy, but at least you have more than two months worth of sales to decide what to get.

That works out to roughly 5 Rockstar weekly sales.

Chances are that the money in your account was from the transition from MS Points to real currency. MS points converted this way are considered "promotional" and have an expiration date so yep! I hope you saw this at some point during the transition. http://support.xbox.com/en-US/billing/microsoft-points/microsoft-points-retire-faq

For me, the career mode in the 2K games has gotten considerably worse with each new iteration since 2K13. Before, they let you play a game to determine your player's skill level to determine team interest and where you will get drafted, which is at least open enough to offer a variety of situations to start your career. The beauty of career modes for me is that they're basically an open book so that you can come up with your own storylines and such to make it something of an open-ended RPG where the user has all of the agency in where it goes.

With 2K14, they've started to take that away as they added much more of a focus on telling you what your story is and forcing these weird cutscenes on you. You play your game to set your skill level and determine where you're drafted, but they insert a specific 2K-created player to get drafted after you that starts a rivalry with you that is such an odd thing to do with taking away some of the realism with that fake player.

With 2K15, you cannot even get drafted if you want that because they force this dumb cinematic story from the beginning where you go undrafted with no ability to change that and have to work your way up from the bottom. You tryout for teams that are interested in you and play a game to see if you meet their required grade to get a 10-day contract. If you don't play well enough to get a contract for the rest of the season, you just keep getting 10-day contracts or maybe get cut to try that over again. The thing that stinks with that is on my 10-day contract, I was considered the team's 7th man and worthy of some significant minutes off the bench, but not worthy of a deal for the rest of the season until after the second 10-day contract with a crappy team that only had one player on the roster at my position.

I'm a Cavaliers fan and still have not been able to get auto-drafted by them in any NBA 2K game, which is a possibility in NHL, Madden, and MLB The Show. People around here have taken offense to my desire to have the option just put my player on the team I'd prefer, but that's also been a big issue for me over the years. The actual game of basketball is pretty good with 2K, but everything else around it is deteriorating from what I want and expect out of the game.

I'm surprised more people haven't complained on here about the currency that was converted from ms points expiring in June. I understand them wanting to go with simple $ amount cards as opposed to us having to crunch numbers to determine how much a purchase would be . Why have the converted currency expire though ? I had 90$ set to expire in June . Had it not been for a few games from the sale and state of decay X1 there wouldn't be much for me to spend it on . I prefer physical and with gcu at bestbuy I have had the money sitting for a while in my account for dlc or good sales that pop up . I would hate to be forced to spend it before June to avoid having it expire .

I played Live for 3 hours last night and had a blast. It's not near as easy as Madden. You actually have to play smart to win.
Yeah, I gave the demo a shot and can see that it's going in the right direction, plus it has Ultimate Team mode which Madden and NHL have me hooked on that. I like that the controls are very similar to the old NBA Live games years ago...I grew up playing Bulls vs Lakers, NBA Live '95-99...so I'm hoping they can keep going in the right direction and wake 2K up a bit. I also played NBA 2k15, sank a bunch of money into leveling up my player so I could get into My Park games, but the whole game just got boring. Both games just feel so scripted--like oh you took a bad shot, now the computer will go on a 10-0 run filled with all sorts of unguardable nonsense.
