Not to sound like a Sega fanboy, but Sonic Racing Transformed is the best kart racing game ever made. Playing Mario Kart 8 after playing Transformed was like a slap to the face. Transformed had so much more content. I figured with Mario Kart 8, they'd try to at least match them in terms of content/replayability/variety, but they basically said "Eff it, we're Nintendo, people will buy it anyway." And people did. And Sonic Racing Transformed went pretty much forgotten.

I worked at a used game store for awhile, and when we were sold out of Mario Kart 8, I always recommended Sonic Racing Transformed instead. That's one of the very few recommendations I've made where people later thanked me for.

My only complaint is that the single player mode is freaking hard. And not in a cheap, six-blue-shells-at-the-finish-line-stretch kind of way like Mario Kart, but the AI is genuinely skilled on all difficulty levels. Unlocking everything is a task for the ages.

Hmm thought about Beach Buggy Racing, but its lack of online multiplayer is a no-go for me. Does anyone do split screen anymore?

Not sure how much I'll buy from this sale and it'll probably depends if I get my $15 from XBL Rewards this week or not.

Never Alone looks like an almost definite. Heard it's good, and the easy 1k doesn't hurt.

Screamride is also tempting and this is the lowest price it's been IIRC. It's also a game I can see myself wanting to have digitally. However, there is a disc version (which seems to be keeping strong at it's current price) and if I pass this week, I can see it being on sale for this price again or better in the nearish future.

Lego Movie Game is tempting for $5. Haven't played a Lego game in a long time so don't have the burnout in that series others have. How is it compared to some of the others?

Hitman HD pack is also tempting for $5. However, being a collection type game and the fact it only has two games compared to all three in the disc version has me wanting to wait for a lower price on the disc version. Plus it would look good on the shelf next to the Metal Gear and Silent Hill collections.

For those interested in Beach Buggy Racing, this sale is only $1 better than the first week sale price of $7.99. That said, the game is more or less a mobile port and it's made readily apparent. For those that played Riptide GP 2, it's exactly like that in the sense you have to grind out races to upgrade your cars (although this game feels harder, even with an upgraded car compared to Riptide). There is some minor depth with there being a championship series outside of the career mode, but it's more of the same tracks and bullshit AI. From an achievement standpoint, the game will take some time to complete as there are a few achievements which are VERY grindy.

If you still have a 360, buy Sonic All Stars Transformed instead. Much, much better game.

Man, I was browsing through the xbox feedback thread for backwards compatibility requests... the CoD fanbois have put all those games at the top of the list... I don't get it. They preorder the annual releases and only the hackers keep playing the old games. Granted, I love World at War and would for sure play it some on meh xbone, but do we really need CoD games from 10 years ago?

So GTA goes on sale like 5 days after I purchase it at full price out of boredom.... I'm gonna end up being one of those guys that controls the sales by the stupid purchases I make the week before aren't I?

Another question, is Thief worth playing? The price doesn't bother me, the time I'll spend playing it is what I'm more worried about. I've watched game play videos and reviews but everyone knocks the shit out of it so I just wanted to know if it's even worth trying...

Don't the European prices include tax in the price listed? I know for me in Canada, Lego would be $5 + tax.

The game is quite good. Our thread here is pretty split on it though. Some like it, some don't.

Thief is pretty terrible. It's linear which is kinda bad for a game about stealing stuff, the ai is incredibly dumb, and the story was phoned in. Plus you have to watch a little cutscene EVERYTIME you pick something up, which is horribly aggravating. If you want a stealth game either get Styx or wait for MGS

If you like the idea of a game that tells a rich story through its mechanics, environments, and animations, you'll probably like it. I finished the game almost two years ago now, but I still think it about it. The end of the game was absolutely brilliant IMO. It was one of the best gaming experiences I had that year.

It is impossible to say why I liked the game so much on :360: without spoiling anything. I'm sure you would agree why.

I will say that I don't think it is worth a replay on :xb1:, though. But great for first timers.

Brothers is definitely a great (and short, which is a plus in my book) experience. But its lack of repeatability and general style makes me think anybody is better suited to play their cheap 360 version or wait until the new one goes on sale below $5. If you haven't played it yet, waiting longer won't hurt.

World at War is something I play every few months, and unless Treyarch, who still exist under Activision, would actively go back and at least try to eliminate hackers or even increase the XP in the game, it really is a useless effort. I totally understand that the games have campaigns, but it just feels like the biggest draw is their online, which for many of those games is ruined by a small but persistent and hacking player base.

It's too bad that companies completely abandon the online offerings they sell us after maybe 2 years.

Max The Curse of Brotherhood for Xbox One was free with Gold awhile back, but for $3 it's a worthy purchase.  I had quite a bit of fun playing, despite all the cursing trying to get that last No Stranger to Danger achievement.

To be fair, Black Ops 2 and MW2 are the best COD games (for me) MP wise. Advanced Warfare would have been fun if the net code wasn't complete trash and they took off the ability to jump around all over the place. I like to think COD Ghosts is just that, a Ghost that we can't prove exists.

$40AU is roughly equivalent to $30US. Still seems high. However, Australia also has wages much higher than the US (minimum wage is about $18 I think) which likely causes higher pricing for all goods (such as games), so the price for this game may not be nearly as high as it seems to us in the United States.

I'm pretty limited on the subject, so i'd be interested in an Australian's perspective on game pricing.
