I'm not sure if it is the exact same as PSN. You go to Xbox.com on your computer and find something you want to buy or download. Add it to your downloads. If you have 360, it will start downloading when you turn it on. If you have Xbox One with settings allowing it, the console will turn itself on and complete the download then turn itself off. Same for updates.

I know for updates you have to set your Xbox One as the Home console. Not sure if computer downloads require it also. You can also use Smartglass (IOS, Android, and WP) to start downloads as well.

I love never having to wait for games to update.

I think I bit off more than I can chew. Arkham Knight is a huge fucking game. Its gonna take me a couple weeks to get through the main campaign + collectibles. Gym time, work, girlfriend leaves too few hours for gaming. I wish I could just stumble across a briefcase with a million bucks and eliminate work from the equation.

 
Can anyone help me decide on a headset? Not looking to spend too much because I don't use one very often but I was looking at the Turtle Beach Ear Force XO One and The Polk Audio 4 Shot. Has anyone used either and are there any pros and cons?

I have the XO Ones. They are pretty good and lightweight so the comfort on head is nice with the padding provided. Cord is plenty long and the Adapter it comes with has Bass Boost and self mic monitoring. Also it separates the volume slider for game and chat, as well for volume itself, much better than the standard Microsoft adapter. Also works well in the new Covert Forces controller I am currently using until the Elite is released.

Cons none really got mine for free during best buy xb1 promotion. But worth more than Microsoft headset by far.

I have the Polk set. It's comfortable despite my literally huge head, sound quality is good, lays flat, build quality seems good though plasticy, standard 3.5mm interchangeable cords. Biggest pro is the awful mic. The built in mic is just unusable and you can get a replacement inline mic for free from Polk that's slightly better but still terrible. Otherwise no regrets and think I paid about $70 for them.

Why does Microsoft never have any really good deals on games online?  Not trying to get heat but I enjoy my X1 better than PS4 but Sony always has way better sales and more games on sale than Microsoft.

No problem! The mic is fine, nobody has ever had issues hearing me and the mic is highly bendable but resilient and will stay where you position it. Button bottom is your mic monitoring by holding it 3-5 seconds. [Off, low, high] 1 button press mutes the mic.

That's the million-dollar question. I don't know if we'd all agree on how long the problem has been going on, but I think most of us would agree that MS sales have been pretty lackluster for some time now. The main problem I have with them is that the same stuff seems to go on sale over and over. I remember a bit more versatility in the weekly sales before the Xbox One came out.

Count me in, too. The MS headset's comfortability is a big plus for me. I also use them to listen to music, etc. when I work, which is a testament to how comfortable they are since I sometimes wear them for hours at a time. The price point makes them a no-brainer IMO.

I've used it to watch TV Shows and Movies and they work excellent too.

The mic took some learning in the beginning because it depends on how you position it, but after you got that down, it is great. Sounds better than TB to me.

When the One was announced and Microsoft got a ton of bad press for trying to kill used games, I thought their reversal would also come with a strong push to digital and deals on those games because it's still a big f u to gamestop and used game retailers to just convince everyone it's a better deal to buy digital. Alas, that has not happened.
 
Well I redeemed my $50 credit from the MS Store for buying the 1TB Xbox One a couple weeks ago.  Since you have to use it in one shot, I got Rare Replay and Mighty No. 9 preordered.  Oddly enough, while there was tax, it was thankfully only on the difference of $10 and not the full $60, and actually, I got an additional $1.50 off each game which the rep couldn't figure out why so I got both games for $3.50 each plus tax and I should be getting $30 in reward credits from them as well.  Also DAMN at MIghty No. 9 being $30, seems a bit expensive, I hope it at least includes all the extras that they met their goals with on their Kickstarter page.  Seriously half the price of a retail game for a digital only side-scroller, I mean I love them, it just seems WAY to high considering MM 9 and 10 were both $10.  

I do have most of the games on the Rare Replay that won't be getting extra achievements already so that kinda sucks though, well 7 out of 10 games that were previously for sale, but still it's a damn good deal and there's only a couple more weeks to pre-order it and get the $15 back in credit.  The way I did it was to go to xbox.com and sign in to your xbox live rewards page and under "my missions" there is a link to the MS Store Pre-Order page where you can find the 2 games I mentioned along with about 70 others.  

EDIT  I spent about $100 on that Ultimate games sale and under the My VIP Status I was at about 33% and now I moved up to 56%, considering they reset you at the end of each year, what would I have to spend to get above 1 star?

I'm betting this is still the plan, but Microsoft is no longer in a position of power with their console because of their utterly stupid mistakes at launch, so they need to capitulate to retailers like Gamestop until they get a better foothold versus the PS4. Also, Microsoft severely underestimated the public's preference for physical games which is especially bad for them considering they market themselves as more of the everyman console instead of Sony which is seen as more of a gamer specific platform. Those everyman people (the people who only buy a few games a year like Madden or parents buying for kids), are not really interested in digital content or don't really understand it.

 
It's not easy for console companies to have good sales on digital games that are not first-party. Third-party publishers play a huge role in determining prices across the board a whole lot more than most people realize or even know about.

p.s. TR:DE for $10 is a damn great sale!

You're right for a few games, but Microsoft's web store is not really what axlrose4183 was talking about. If you want to go down that rabbit hole, you may as well mention GameDealDaily and other sites that are selling digital codes. axlrose4183 was referring to game sales directly on the console store.

 
In my opinion the Ultimate Sale was decent. I got Ass Creed China for $5, Ori for $15, Geometry Wars for 7.50$ and Lego batman for 13.75$.

It will take me a while to play through all those but I suppose if you have more time then more frequent sales might be nice.

It was a way better sale than Prime Day that's for sure.

I wonder if Microsoft was more or less successful this year by just putting everything on sale for the week rather than the dailies. I prefer the whole week personally so I don't have to check the prices daily.
 
I just got really creeped out by Facebook. I looked up rare replay in the Microsoft store and then closed out of the browser and then went to my Facebook app and the top thing in my feed was Buy Rare Replay at the Microsoft store.

I'm starting to feel like Facebook has a direct drip line from my browser...

If I don't ever post again it's because the Facebook robots were mad at me for revealing too much and terminated me. Save yourselves.

I have a google chrome laptop and it took me awhile to figure out they do monitor what sites you are on and advertise when you go on other sites. It's apparently how they sell the laptops so cheap because they make up for it in advertising.

 
My wife and I both have iPhones, a couple months back we were talking about a MadTV skit while outside. Not once have we ever watched MadTV on YouTube, but guess what was in both of our viewing recommendations? Yep. That same skit. The only MadTV thing on there.

It was odd to say the least.

Their facial recognition software is something like 99% accurate already. People should really be a lot more concerned about the stuff these companies are doing than they are. Even more so when we know that whether with the companies consent or against their will that the government is sticking their fingers on it.

Went to an arcade earlier this year. When I went home and checked Facebook, somebody I met at the arcade was a suggested friend. 99% of my Facebook profile is fake. I think the only real piece of information on there is my first name. That was creepy

Did they have WiFi? Do you have your phone's GPS generally enabled?
 
use chrome extensions Ghostery and uBlock to minimize some of that tracking stuff.  Otherwise everywhere you visit is tracked and correlated, both IRL and online.
