You can use the Xbox 360 subreddit. I am likely among the last place group when it comes to 360 backlog progression (still in 2007 games) but when I got to Crackdown, I posted on there looking for a coop partner and (surprisingly) received a bunch of messages from people down to play some Crackdown.

Trueachievements has the option to set up sessions just for fun as well. This might help for older games that you just want to get some people together for. Of course that's the place to set up boosting sessions too if that's your thing.
 
What is G2A and how much was a year of XBL there? I hope that's not one of those resellers where they have to call your phone number before they approve your order. I'm sure G2A is a reputable site but that practice always seemed super-sketchy to me.

That's brilliant. Why didn't I think of that? I don't think I'll have as much luck as you did, however, because I want to play strategy and fighting games - two really niche genres - whereas Crackdown was a killer app in its time.

I'm regretting subscribing for a full year when all I wanted was Metro 2033 - I should have just bought a month for $5. Now there has to be like five more games I want from Games with Gold before I feel like I got my money's worth.

Ubi Australia says Zombi will be $29.95 AUD. Which is roughly $22 for us. So... this should land at $20-$25 when it launches tonight... hopefully.

If Zombi is only $15 US that means it's probably a really bad port and Ubisoft is hoping it gets a pass due to decent pricing. Considering it's essentially a brand new game to most people, they could probably get away with charging $30 to $40 if it was good. Hopefully i'm wrong.

 
Seeing that new Gears trailer and listening to 'Mad World' again reminded me of how awesome that original trailer was...  and it reminded me of what I consider the single biggest failure of this new console generation: The lack of new IPs. 

When that original 'Mad World' Gears trailer was released in 2006, it was exciting.  The trailer showed restraint and was more interesting and mysterious because of it.  The footage was beautiful and it looked like it was going to set a different tone for AAA shooters.  There was great buzz because of the pedigree of the developer.

WHERE THE fuck IS THAT TODAY?

10 years later and big publishers don't have the balls to take risks on creating new worlds, new characters, and new mechanics.  Instead its remaster after remaster.   They can do better!  I know this horse has been beat to death but that new Gears Ultimate Ed trailer really highlights the differences in the business today.

I understand that Gears is a known quantity at this point and the new 'Mad World' trailer has to be referential and can't compete with the original on some levels, but watch the original again and note the differences.  The original trailer showed off what was new and different about this IP.  The setting was important.  It implied that the characters were going to have a range of emotions (it's arguable if the eventual Gears game made good on that).  It was new, dammit.  Where are these new experiences today?  Someone help me out and name a new IP from the last 2 years that feels as fresh as this was back in 2006:

Queue the indie fanboys who will proclaim that innovation and creativity is thriving in the indie scene and this is where all the fresh, new ideas are. While this is mostly true, I'm tired of innovation that essentially boils down to a game that looks like it was made in 1985 or platformer with some new twist.

I actually think that indie games might be hurting new AAA IP (at least in the short run) because developers that might push for some new ideas can find it easier to simply leave AAA studios and work on their own project with no restraints. Eventually, AAA studios will feel the need to innovate and be forced to change either because all the creative people are leaving and/or because they aren't selling sequels like they need to.

The market will likely even out and indies will lose their luster for one reason or another and there will be good opportunities in both areas.

 
We're still waiting for this gens Bioshock, Uncharted, Gears of War, or revolutionary RPG reimagining like fallout 3 was.

Instead we are all just waiting for ur above franchises' number "4"

And regarding midloo's comments, Xbox has plenty of new stuff coming. The two I'm looking forward to the most are Quantum Break and Cuphead.

Bloodborne sold very well! And you're right it's amazing but it's pretty darn similar to the souls games to the point where it didn't have the impact of demon or dark souls.

Sunset overdrive is decent but in no way a great new IP

So what, waiting for sequels to franchises you love is bad? Also, you beg for "revolutionary" yet don't acknowledge how hard it is to create something completely new. And when most people do create something new, it gets shit on for not being as good as other games.
 
I loved Sunset Overdrive. After you unlock a few upgrades it becomes incredibly addictive. Unfortunately before then it's not quite as fun and I think that turns a lot of people off.

Definitely. I see some people's gamercards with SSO on it, and they only have like 150-200 points and that tells me they gave up on it way too quickly. The game really opens up once you unlock the crazier traversal moves but you have to play for about 5-10 hours to get them. I stuck with it and it turned into my favorite original IP this gen.

Your way of thinking about games is dying out. Games are games it doesn't matter if they're AAA or indies all that matters is if they're fun. Developers now days have way more options for creating games they actually want to make them ever before and that is a great thing for the industry.
