I didn't check my account balance, but I got a deposit as well. Though how much you get may depend on when the credits posted to your account. A few days ago, I had 7,250 credits, then today I had 7,650, getting 400 for MyVIP rebate backdated to 11/30. I had $7.40 deposited. The 250 credits / 25 cents from the December survey is dated from 12/5 and must not have made the cut. Maybe it had to be dated by 12/1 to get deposited.

 
lol, Bungie adds sparrow racing, which is really damn fun(feels like SW Episode 1 Pod Racer), and it gets overshadowed by them lying to the community to cover up their screw up with the auto rifles.

 
ARK: Survival Evolved releases 12/16 (as part of Game Preview) for $34.99. This game looks very awesome.

The Game Preview version of ARK comes with Limited Edition Xbox-Exclusive Founder's content: a bionic 'Tek' T-Rex skin, ARK Founder's Hat skin, and ARK Founder's Trophy.

It's not letting me download ESO, even though it says the free-play weekend has started (according to the Xbox app). I'm eager to get let down.

While I've not yet played the game, but it just comes off as fun - ride dinosaurs in an open world survival-type game. Check out the trailer w/ XB1 gameplay here. As with all titles in 'Game Preview', you will be able to play a free, limited time trial starting 12/16, too.

I had to go on my XBO and find it. There is the option to buy it and next to it it says install.

The worse thing is even LAN is dead. Neither 5 or Master Chief Collection have it. For the couple Halo focused LANs I went to in 2012 and 2013, we had enough TVs that just about everyone had their own so no Splitscreen wouldn't have been a total killer, no LAN is.

Even locally it sucks. We probably couldn't scrounge up 16 Xbones, but we hook up 2 or 3 360s fairly regularly when I have people over. Playing stuff like Halo, Gears, Resident Evil, Left 4 Dead. Hooking a couple Xboxs to Live is fine most of the time, but I know we couldn't do more without the internet or Live shitting themselves.

If you have an Albertson's in your area by the way, at least in Nevada, Post cereal is $1.67 each (limit 6).  You may not have any of the Crisp cereals that have $10 off the microsoft store, but if you find any its a great way to pick up some cheap XBL credit - 40% off $25 digital delivery essentially.

Its only good at the microsoftstore.com (online) but afaik it works on pretty much anything on the store, takes $10 off any order $25 or more.

There's a few free TV episodes on the TV and Movies tab on Live. I downloaded the first episode of a show called Superstore this morning and then pushed it to my external hard drive. I don't remember the names of the others right now.

It's crazy how fast everything shifted. Given the huge install base and popularity of the last-gen consoles, I really thought that it would be a few years before the Bone and PS4 had the spotlight all to themselves. Instead the interest in last-gen just dried up overnight.

Hey Darb, could you possibly post a link? I'm on the groove page in the ms store website and the only option I have is "listen now", I'm guessing because I've been paying $10 a month for it.

I'm not in love with this year's deal either. I should've just stacked them both last year but I sold one off to someone that missed out on the deal. Cést la vie.
 
In all seriousness, does anyone think ahead to next gen? Like do you think MS or Sony will develop a customizable console so you can keep upgrading the hardware like a PC? I'm sure if MS gleaned one lesson from this gen, its that gamers love power, even more than great games. 1440p/90fps is the gold standard, anything less is unacceptable...from what I've learned the last two years.

Wish Doom 3 BFG was compatible with the xbox one. Not sure if I want to rebuy (or have to) Doom 1/2. Never opened/played Doom 3 BFG on 360, guessing Doom 1/2 is on disc.

Companies like Nintendo should of already done something like that considering how many new 3DS's that have come out. Guess we'll see soon what the future has in store for us.

As far as your idea, it would be great for us as the consumer to do that, but I would imagine it could cut into the company's profits big time, since we're not forced to get the new system to upgrade

I am fine with being ignorant. I do like pretty games but I also just care about having fun. I am having fun with Just Cause 3 even with some of the tech problem. Sometimes an install will take way longer than it should but the thing that bugs me even more is when I go to the map and it takes 2-3 seconds to focus. Really, a map? There is definitely something wrong.

A big selling point of consoles is that the hardware is NOT customizable. Developers only have one spec to target, and consumers don't have to worry about "Will this game play on my hardware configuration" or "What's the right balance of graphics settings and performance for this game on my machine". If it says Xbox on the package, an Xbox will play it, basically. Change that and you're kind of removing the whole point of consoles existing as a separate market from gaming PCs.

Why would they? That removes their ability to make us want cheaper to make redesigns down the road when they don't look quite as much like VCRs and George Foreman grills. Hardware is a zero margin business as well so the box is just how they get in to the house and then it's all about attach rate. So having to continually compete just hurts them and costs them money. Even in the PC space there's no arms race any longer and the best bang for the buck PC components (other than GPU) are almost identical to what I bought three years ago when I built my PC, just 15-20% cheaper now. That's where hardware is these days.
