Please note:

  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console.  Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work.  Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance, but DLC cannot.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.
On Xbox One, Gold trials of any length work for sales and Games with Gold.  You must be an active Gold subscriber (paid or trial) to play Games with Gold purchases.
  • On Xbox 360, you must have at least a 1 month Gold subscription for sales and Games with Gold.  Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.

[*]All known sales and information on sales should make their way into the OP. Major Nelson usually updates his blog with new sales information every other Tuesday.

I haven't been addicted to a game like Rainbow 6 in awhile.

Sidenote: For months now I can never find a game on the Battlefield 4 DLC maps...what gives? Population cant be that small
1. We should play. Siege is awesome.

2. Check your filters. Make sure you aren't limiting the search to only vanilla maps.

I'm going to have to give Siege another go to see if I can get into it.  It just seems really slow & methodical (I played the 5 vs. CPU mode once after 5-6 of the training missions).  I also wasn't a fan of lack of respawns and just watching others be slow and methodical after dying.  I can respect developers trying to provide a more "realistic" experience, but sometimes you just want to run on a wall, snap a neck, and jump in a titan.

Yeah, so go play Call of Duty or Titanfall. Tactical shooters aren't your thing apparently.

yeah if you don't have 2-4 friends to always playing R6 siege with, its just not fun at all.  Playing solo in random groups just leads to you being a spectator or lone wolfing it most of the time.  I'm sure its a blast with friends, but I play alone most of the time so just not my kind of game, reminds me of Evolve a lot.

Nah...don't go back to Siege...seriously.

I've been playing with randoms the past few days a lot and it works fine. Just make sure you use a mic.

Really enjoy Siege despite not playing it at all recently.

Also, not sure what's out there to trade, but I'll be getting that Telltale Collection when the emails come out, and I don't know if I want to keep it or not.

Kan-Ra is the $1 Killer Instinct character this week.

:360: Sacred 3 is showing free for GwG. Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising isn't showing yet.
Feck...

Sacred 3 isn't on the official list of BC titles yet, but it does have an XB1 marketplace page. Does it show up in anyone's ready to install list?
It showed up less than 15 seconds later for me.

That game has lots of (paid) DLC, can anyone comment on if any of it is worthwhile?

You've clearly never played a Rainbow Six game.

So MS gave DragonBall Xenoverse a value of $65 on the Rewards website, and that is the current price of the game + Season Pass. Hopefully we'll get both. :whee:

So Star Wars battlefront is a nice surprise for me. I really wasn't expecting to like it, even though I love Star Wars. I really like being able to switch between first and third person view. Is that option available on mp as well, or just the single player levels?

I'm debating purchasing this now after playing the trial some. I probably won't do much of the multiplayer since I can't use a mic while the baby is asleep. Is the single player stuff beefy enough to warrant a $40 purchase? The trial only shows four sp modes, but I can't tell how much content that is. So far I've only done the tutorial and some speeder chase stuff.

Not what you were getting at in this comment, but I've been playing a bit of Black Ops 3 lately and have come to the conclusion that I'm no longer any good at these types of shooters. I mean, I never was that great, but way back in the days of Quake, UT, Duke Nukem etc I was at least competitive and would sometimes have a hot streak and go on a rampage.

No longer. Now I'm basically cannon fodder, which I don't mind really except that I drag the team down which makes me very reluctant to continue. With BO3, BO2, BF4, BF3, CoD:AW etc on my shelf, I need to stop buying these games as I never play them.

I think it would be great if there was a way to specify 'pure casual only' and maybe change the rules so average play wasn't such a hindrance to enjoyment. Maybe get rid of posting k:d at all on the scoreboard, and have a mode where your weapon strength was inversely proportional to your success. Core gameplay should remain as it is, of course, for the primary player base, but at least folks like myself would have a reason to buy and to play.

Umm... Battlefront is about as casual as shooters get. No bulletdrop, accuracy doesn't change between hip fire/aiming, infinite grenades (on a timer), infinite ammo (weapons overheat from continuous fire), no squads/fireteams, no "team" gadgets (spawn beacon, powerups, ammo drops, etc), all powerups are pickup based rather than score/killstreak gated....

On a related note, the Doom alpha reminded me of how far shooters have come from mindless arena frag fests.

Hmm, I seem to have confused your post about casual shooters with the above post specifically asking about Battlefront. Too lazy to fix.

Always looking for Siege buddies. Hit me up sometime, GT: Capt Brannigan.

(Release the waves of spam invites!)
I'm sorry, I've been waiting for you to say the word wave for quite some time so I could say THIS:

Captain Zapp Brannigan said:
You see, killbots have a preset kill limit. Knowing their weakness, I sent wave after wave of my own men at them until they reached their limit and shut down. Kif, show them the medal I won.

None of the games you mentioned are tactical shooters.

That's the biggest appeal I have with Halo, due to having shields and most of the time a radar system, you're got a high chance of fun/death interruptions. Plus there are so many different game types. Go all team battle and coordinate with a few Spartans with a warthog/tank/sniper team, or just bask in the greatness that is arena for that true cooperative fun. I may be a little biased with my Halo > CoD approach- although I do enjoy both - but that's my personal preference. I've played all the shooters you talked about, even counter strike for almost a decade.

That said there's always ME3 MP. :p

Did anyone get a confirmation e-mail for the Xbox Anniversary grab bag thing?  I was the 2nd person to get the Xbox One Dead Rising 3 Disc, and didn't attempt to get anything else. I was going to get the Borderlands Handsome Jack collection, decided to check out the Vintage tab, went back, and it was completely claimed. I'm happy with what I got, and it makes up for not getting any of the free points from before, but no confirmation worries me.

it said we should get an email within a week.

3rd and 1st are available in MP. I prefer 3rd in this game. I also like that it's different and hip firing is the preferred way to play the game. I don't play with a mic and it doesn't make me enjoy the game any less. I find enough players understand the objectives just fine. There are four environments, but depending on the game mode you'll see different versions of that environment. I don't know how it's broken down, but I think each environment has a small, medium and large map, each of which is completely different.

Kojima comes out and discusses his new team, all for his next game to be playstation exclusive. fucking horseshit Kojima. Way to split your fanbase.

Sad fucking day for gaming.

Also, fuck you Pony.

Yeah, so go play Call of Duty or Titanfall. Tactical shooters aren't your thing apparently.
Aww, still sore about that thrashing in Titanfall?

Tactical shooters could be my thing, too early to tell. Match I played, no one had mics, and I think we can admit there is a learning curve for Siege and the 'training missions' are rather limited compared to the MP missions (i.e. you have one objective/goal in the training missions, while the MP map challenges you with several at a time). Maybe I'll just join your game when I see you online and shoot you in the back.

If you're playing with a mic, while you're dead you can still man cameras or help people spot. You can try tewwowist hunt, but it can be harder than MP since you can't just win with 5 kills.

Battle High 2 A+ came out today for $5. I never heard of it before. Looks like a bad fighting game, but at $5 I'm willing to try it out. Maybe it won't be as bad as I think. Original game was part of XBLIG.

Confused....you do realize that all MGS games have been PS exclusive except for the most recent 1.5 games right? If you were actually part of the fanbase you would have the console his games are on (now including the ps4)

Oh look at that. The no friend loser bitch still resides in this life. Shame.
I shouldn't have to.
Are you going to complain that you shouldn't have to buy a Nintendo to play Mario games? If Kojima games are that important to you then trade in your XBO and get a PS4.

The funny thing here is how ENTITLED you are acting about this. You think just because you own an XBO that everyone should make their games for that console.

Metal Gear - NES
Metal Gear 2 - NES era
MGS- PS1 and GC
MGS 2 - PS2 and Xbox
MGS 3 - PS2, PS3, and Xbox 360
Peace Walker - Vita, PS3, and Xbox 360
MGS 4 - PS3
MGS 5 - Xbox One, 360, PS3, and PS4

Your point is disproven as all the games with the exception of 4 are multi platform.

Why am I a "no friend loser bitch"? Lol, I just meant that I never want to be locked out of playing a game - so I own all consoles. Jeez.
Loser bitch is directed to cochese. Hes always been a cocksucker. I like you. But I shouldnt have to buy a ps4 for ONE game thats developed by a third party team.

And once again, not only are you proving yourself to be a complete retard, youre misusing entitled. Most of Kojimas games are multiplatform and hes made a new company. The smart thing is to make your game open to as many as you can. Kojima has always stated he wants everyone he can to play his game. Hes literally cutting down potential gain and losing fan loyalty. No entitlement, just common sense. Shit your dumbass lacks.

None of the games you mentioned are tactical shooters.
Oh for sure, I realize that, I was just lamenting my declining skills in the fast-twitch shooters. It also feeds into why the presence or absence of a single-player campaign is still a buying criteria for me - might be the most value I get out of the game!

Battlefront
Definitely! With the lackluster reviews and complaints about the lack of maps/content, I almost returned my discounted pre-order thinking I'd wait for the discount bin, but cracked it open this past weekend and had a great time in it. As you say, the game is more casual focused, and it's actually possible to duck under cover after taking fire and live - two thumbs up. Add in the tie-fighter dogfighting mode and the Star Wars setting and it was a terrific buy for me.

Splatoon.
Haven't tried this one, but will check it out, thanks. I'd also put Garden Warfare into this category of casual shooters.

Oh wow. Let's talk about something else. Shit is getting a bit heated in here for no reason.

I'll distract everybody. Here is that picture of our dads in the forest again.
