IV is fun, but feels overwhelming at times. There is so much stuff going on in the last few levels. Prior than that you'll feel super OP. It does have some very creative levels mixed in. 3 is a great parody of GTA. Both are fun games.

Reboot is less puzzle and platforming focused and has much more combat. I find the older Tomb Raider games boring and annoying when jumps don't work right or puzzle has a dumb solution. Reboot is much more like playing a movie than older games.

 
OK, Tomb Raider Underworld was one of the Tomb Raider games before the Tomb Raider Reboot. For its time it was a good Tomb Raider game, puzzles, combat, you know the drill. However ggey pretty much had run out of ideas with each sequel being pretty much the same as the previous Tomb Raider titles. Not so with the reboot and then Rise of course. If you like the TR franchise there's a lot of lore, hidden collectibles and challenges to keep you busy on a rainy day.

Saints Row is crazy and Violation decided you know what, it's not crazy enough! So yeah they give you super powers, you can pretty much fly, and oh yeah you're the f'n president of Stillwater now.

I say at those prices they're both buys. They're also fairly decent $/achievement ratios too.
 
Saints Row 1 is my fav but because of MP. Probably my favorite MP game of all time.

SR2 mp was booty though. I like all the campaigns but I'd say in this order for me when it comes to them 3, 4, Gat, 2, 1.

Looks like the base download for Complete Collection is exactly 3 gigs, I'm guessing it's set up like the part 2 of big DLCs in the past, like Bioshock Infinite or Mass Effect 3 had. Though I don't know if those arbitrary limitations are still in place, Arcade games used to be capped at 2 gigs, not 3.

Aside from that, I'd recommend Force Unleashed 1 if anyone is looking for a Star Wars fix. Just remember that they're no longer canon. I almost want to get TFU 2 at $5 but I don't recommend the game unless you REALLY love the gameplay, the story just feels forced and unnecessary.

I think they have a good shot at being BC in the future too, at least the first game. I guess that's up to Disney, though EA seemed pretty pro BC if they get a say thanks to the deal they've got set up.

 
Normally I'm a date night traditionalist but if Microsoft wants to start the deals early so I have something unproductive to do today at work, I would be fine with some afternoon delight.

What? No.

1) Bugs. More than a Bethesda game.
2) Incompetent AI that was hyped as being next gen. Supposed to grab railings after being force pushed, or grab each other. Too bad force push clears an entire room and wrecks all the railings.
3) QTE. Esp. taking out a star destroyer, that is very likely the most boring QTE fight ever.
4) Highly hyped physics effects for different materials getting hit at various forces, all a wash because force push is a tsunami.
5) Bugs. Did I mention them? Plenty of game breaking ones too, like bosses getting stuck under the fight arena.
6) Force push is obscenely powerful, until the hit detection fails and you burn your entire mana bar trying to push open a door enough to squeeze through.
7) Losing any nostalgia for Rancors. Those games should be subtitled Rancor Genocide and The Final Solution (to Rancors).

Funny you called the story a weak point, when I thought that was by far the most compelling reason to keep playing. I enjoyed both, they fulfill a niche for over the top power fantasies with lightsabers and force lightning. Don't expect much of a challenge, unless you count them bugs.

I've been waiting on a Lego Star Wars sale forever, I'll grab that and force unleashed, possibly the lego HP games as well. Other stuff is meh but I'm excited to grab those at a good price.
 
Talk me out of Battlefront. I know there's the shit season pass which I'll never buy at that outrageous price. But it's so pretty and nostalgia and it was pretty fun for me in the beta.

Edit: It's the $33 price at BB that's tempting me.

There will be cheaper deals soon. Reasons: poor reviews and poor sales, combined with the need for them sell the base game for real cheap if they want people to pony up for the season pass when the first batch of DLC arrives.

If you need a Star Wars fix, then go watch the new movie. If you already saw it, then go watch it again. ;)

Battlefront tempts me as well, but I should and do know better. I'm hoping the MS sale is at least tempting, because I need to spend perhaps about $75 more at BB before the end of the year. I'd do worse than spacebucks.

Huh. For some reason, in the back of my mind, I always thought Killer Instinct was a f2p game. But then again I hate fighting games so I probably mentally demoted it...

Two more games I won't play. I'm honestly happy. Can work on my black friday games.

I do believe it is a "F2P" game that gives you certain characters but you can pay to unlock the others. I actually won Season 1, 2 and Shadow Jago from Major Nelson but before that I hadn't played much so I'm not sure of the specifics.

The F2P version is only being able to use 1 character a month that you have no choice in choosing. Compared to the paid version that has 18 characters and all stages, as well as costumes.

It's not even remotely the same as the F2P version with is very barebones.

For those confused about KI.

The base game is free. This includes access to every mode in the game including multiplayer. You are restricted to one free character that they change every few weeks.

You can purchase characters individually for $5 or buy them in the packs below.

$20 Season 1 Combo Breaker Edition includes all season 1 characters.

$40 Season 1 Ultra Edition ***GWG*** includes all season 1 characters, all season one cosmetic accessories, and Killer Instinct Classic (KI 1 upgraded to include online play).

Season 2 works the same way except you get access to Killer Instinct 2 Classic instead of KI Classic.

There is another pack that includes both seasons, but you probably shouldn't get that with S1 going free.

Season 1 characters are much easier to play because of how simple they are. If you've never played a fighting game before, stick with Jago. He is fighting games 101 basic plus he is the character used in the really good tutorial mode (Dojo). The Dojo will help with any fighting game, so try it out if you're completely new to the genre.

It's not really open world, but each stage is a really big area of space to fight in, and the way missions will have you jump from section to section, it can feel a lil Phantasy Star Online-like which is kinda cool.

Definitely get it, I also got it on 360 at launch and was worth every penny. 20 bucks is a steal.

At least Deus Ex saves the month of January. One of my favorite all time games.
