Aww, I was included in Blinknot's post! I feel so special. My GOTY is MGS V: Phantom Pain. I didn't get a ton of time to play video games this year, but most of it was with Phantom Pain and I loved pretty much every second. Outside of a couple of nitpicks about the story, I loved it all too. I actually felt like I got something out of that game that I hadn't been able to get in a while.

Runner up is either Fallout 4 or Tale from the Borderlands. If I played more Fallout than the 15 hours or so that I have, that would probably be a clear winner for second.

2015 most played games for me was Destiny TTK, then either forza horizon 2 or SW battlefront.

 
Mine would have to be Rainbow Six Siege since Pickle Sim 2015 never released.

Fun fact: according to Wikipedia, over 150 games released this year for the Xbox One.

Diablo is an aRPG. It is has a pretty good story and going after the objectives and trying to level your character is fun. The first part is a little slow as it tries to build the world and the story but then it gets fun. There are some companions you get along the way that have some hilarious dialog and pretty good back story that you find out about as you go along. At the half way point is becomes fun as the story and characters have evolved. It can get grindy if you do not like to explore and do side quests. Playing different characters is fun and each has its own challenge in terms of dealing with bosses.

My opinion may be jaded however as I played the Original Diablo and Diablo II on the PC including expansions. Then I played Diablo III on the Xbox 360 and purchased it again for Xbox One.

 
Just cause 3 followed closely by rocket league. Ark would have had a shot had I gotten it earlier.

Also, apparently Xbox rewards thinks my vipness isn't big enough to get a gift card email and I'm not cool enough to be on the list. If anybody needs some salt, there's plenty in my wound.
 
Tales from the Borderlands, Rise of the Tomb Raider, and I suppose Halo 5's multiplayer since I keep playing it even when it pisses me off

Hey all!

My favorites were:

MGSV ... even though i only had this game for about a week, i LOVED it. Best game i have played on my X1 so far. Hopefully i can pick it back up and beat it soon.

I'd say the game I enjoyed the most and got the most time out of this year was probably Diablo 3 - Reaper of Souls.  I'm one of those gamers who enjoys a game to grind.  I'll just put on a podcast (old Internet Box or Rooster Teeth usually) and tear through rifts for a couple of hours at a time.

Off-topic: Can anyone recommend a good HDMI switch that isn't expensive and actually lasts?

Just Cause 3 was also one of my favorites this year. So much fun.

 
Ori and the Blind Forest, Elder Scrolls Online, and Killer Instinct Season 2.

Ori is by far my favorite game of this generation. I really thought that I wouldn't like it at all. I was convinced to buy it when my favorite streamer would not stop talking about how much he loved the game and put in his top 10 games of all time (he can be very picky). I'm so glad he did because I loved every minute of it. It might be the first game in a long time that I found to be perfect. No glitches, challenging but fair gameplay, mind blowing visuals, great audio, very fun, and a heartbreaking story. The story starts strong then appears to slow down and you think it won't play a big part in the game (story rarely does for platformers). Then there's a point about halfway through the game where you find out some huge story related event and it completely changes how you feel about the whole game. Replaying it a 2nd time you see story elements that you overlooked the first time. I only played through the whole game 6 or 7 times and got all the achievements. I have high expectations for definitive edition.

ESO was the biggest risk for me this year. I played beta on PC a long time ago and really didn't like it. The night before it came out on Xbox I randomly decided to buy it. I don't even like Elder Scrolls games. It was really rough on launch day. The servers were a mess, but I expected that to happen. What I didn't expect was how quickly they fixed server issues because of how bad they were. You couldn't even see other players properly, they would just teleport around everywhere and disappear randomly. A few friends got it and we gad a great time playing. I've got over 300 hours played and I still have a ridiculous amount of content left to play (at least 100 hours), not even including DLC that add at least another 50 hours or so. Huge siege PvP battles reminded me of LOTRO's PvP (my favorite MMO), but much more epic.

KI isn't really a 2015 game, but season 2 finished coming out this year and completely changed how you play the game. You'll get your ass kicked if you play it like season 1. Plus Hisako is my favorite fighting game character ever. I already liked playing KI, but season 2 made me absolutely love it. Season 3 might make me an addict.

There's another game that officially launches next week (I think)that I would've replaced KI with if it had a 2015 launch date. I got a chance to test it about a month ago. I'm not sure if I can say what it is, so I'll just say that it is far from epic. I really enjoyed it way more than I was expecting and I'll recommend it again when it launches.

Ori and the Blind Forest was my favorite game of the year. The big sequels were all fun - Halo 5, Witcher 3, Rise of the Tomb Raider, etc., but no new IP captured me like Ori did.

I typically don't play many new games until the year after they release or later when I get them for cheap... But from what I did play this year my fave is totally Lego Dimensions. Don't even feel bad saying that. Best Doctor Who video game ever made.

My favorite of the year was probably Fallout 4. Still haven't beat it but I've put more than 100 hours in and enjoyed all of them.

Also I bought Rise of the Tomb Raider a few days ago on a whim and it's blown me away. And Arkham Knight was great.

Now that I think about it, I seriously need to cut back on purchases and actually play next year. The only games I remember beating this year are AC: Unity and Arkham Knight.

 
Oh fuck me, I forgot about AC Syndicate. That was amazing.

Biggest disappointment.... Battlefront. By far. Yeah I got 100% in it, but honestly if I wasn't an achievement whore I'd have been done with the game after a few days.
