An amazing game with a great story. Some cliché dialogue but it fits in with the normal teenage/highschool setting the game is in.

I'd probably say Life is Strange is my favorite game of the year. I loves the chill atmosphere, the effect your choices had, the soubdtrack, and character interactions. I have yet to play fallout 4, witcher 3, and arkham knight though. :p
 
Does anyone know of a way to purchase something like the FIFA 16 Deluxe/Super Deluxe using my Gold account during this sale and have another family gamertag on my Xbox benefit from the FIFA points? Or is it cut-and-dry only valid for the purchasing account?

And totally not a regular poster and behind on playing a number of the newer games, but I think I put AC Syndicate as my top pick for 2015.
 
I guess I'd say Metal Gear even with all of the issues I have with it. Fallout could probably overtake it but I'm just starting to dig in. I liked Resident Evil Revelations 2 quite a bit too.

Special shout out to Knights of the Old Republic II, I replayed it with the restoration mod and enjoyed it a ton.

I put so many hours into Just Cause 3 and had a friggin blast, but

that ending, really? It was like going on an amazing, adventure/hi jinks filled road trip, only to end up in a disappointing shit hole like Detroit. The ending was almost as bad and abrupt as KOTOR 2's.

 
It's always so hard to narrow it down, I'm going to go with my gut and say Halo 5 and Smite were my favorites. Very honorable mentions to King's Quest, Rogue Legacy and Blues and Bullets.  

Like many others here I played a lot of games this year that were great but came out before 2015.

I get what you say and I dont generally ask anyones opinion - I buy and regret, of my own volition. It does feel good to have someone else to blame, though :D

Best games of the year are tough, on the Xbox end I really have enjoyed Halo 5 and Dragon Ball Xenoverse, outside of Xbox Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate and Super Mario Maker are pretty great as well. I have been really enjoying Battlefront as well, there's a lot of great games I played this year though.

 
My favorite games I've played this year (even though they were not from this year) were probably Far Cry 4, Diablo 3 and I imagine once I play Rise of the Tomb Raider, it will be too  :p

I think it has to be The Witcher 3 followed by Fallout 4.  I bought TW3 when it came out and I still haven't finished it yet.  That's because this gen I've been playing games in bursts, an hour here an hour there like every other day.  Also I love these games because of exploits.  With single player games like these, I love feeling like a billionaire god!  It's single player so it's not hurting anybody.  So I've been going back and forth the two since I haven't finished them, oh I'm a completest too and try to finish all the side quests before the main.

I actually haven't completed a bunch of games I bought, from Dead Rising 3 + Super Hyper DLC, Sunset Overdrive, DragonAge Inquisition, Shadow of Mordor, Lego Marvel, and a couple of recent ones I purchased, Transformers Devastation and Saints Row IV + Gat and now with the Gimme5 games of Dragonball & Minecraft Story.  I'm still trying to trade or sell Dark Souls 2 and I'm still waiting on Ride.  I'm not even going include the games my brother is game sharing with me and the GwG games.  My goal is to try to finish game I paid for then the free games.  I think that's everybody's goal and even with a longer list of paid backlog lol.  I'm still want Just Cause 3, Mad Max, Batman Arkham Knight, MGSVPP, SWBF, and I think I'm going to get both Dying Light and Zombie Army Trilogy.

Have to agree with Knight Squad! To me it's on the level right under Mario Party in terms of 4 player co-op/fun. Getting it for free is the cherry on top.

From an hours standpoint, I'm going with Halo 5 simply because I can't put it down. I'm not that good at it and wanna get better (which makes me play more and more) so despite all the stress that comes with it, I have to say that's my game of 2015.

 
FIFA 16 (- is the greatest player on the planet, and CAG united is the greatest soccer club in the world)

Until Dawn (so awesome, but I know not X1)

GTA 5 (never got to finish on 360, fps mode is incredible)

I was hoping to buy a bunch of games in the Countdown sale, but all I've picked up is Ori and the Blind Forest, and Life is Strange.  Ended up picking up a lot more for my PS4, including a few games that were in both sales, just considerably cheaper in the PSN sale. (Super Mega Baseball was $13.49 for XB1, $3.99 for PS4, Broken Age 5 was $6.25 there, $12.50 here.  Would have preferred getting them on XB1, but oh well)

As far as my favorite games of the year:

XBox: The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth, Rise of the Tomb Raider

Non-Xbox:  The Talos Principle, N++

Aww hell you just reminded me that I've had the modded KOTOR 2 sitting on my desktop PC for like a year now because I never turn it on anymore.

 
My favorite games released in 2015 that I played are:

  1. Just Cause 3 (For pure fun this game is awesome)
  2. Tales from the Borderlands (Best Tell Tale game to date IMO)
  3. Mad Max (I loved the game world)
  4. Destiny: The Taken King (I put too many hours in to not include)

I got my One this year, but I spent way more time catching up on the backlog than playing anything new. I barely finished Fallout 3 this year! Looking back at what I played, I'm surprising even myself and saying Life is Strange was probably my favorite of the year.

 
My backlog is so bad I spent the year playing games from 2013 games black flag tomb raider and cod ghosts lol. Only played madden from this year so I'll go with that for my goty

That is a tough one. If I go by hours put in I would guess it would be The Taken King because overall this year and last Destiny has been my main game overall. Just because I have played it the most doesn't necessarily make it the BEST game that came out this year. If we went strictly by time put in it would probably be Destiny, BLOPS III and Halo 5. None of those games to me deserve Game of the Year however, with the exception of MAYBE Halo.

That being said if I am looking at it from an objective point of view and just thinking of the most impressive games overall, ones that really blew me away moreso than even expected I would have to say the top contenders are Phantom Pain, Witcher 3, Dying Light and Bloodborne. This being an XBL thread I am not about to name a PS4 exclusive my GOTY though! : P

With that I know you are all eagerly reading this at the edge of your seat hahah if I could pick one game it would be Phantom Pain. I never even beat the campaign because I got distracted with other stuff but for what it was that title took Metal Gear and just raised it to a whole other level. Putting it in an open world as they did with select smaller areas being confined for specific missions just felt right with the series. Pair that with most of those missions and objectives being quite varied, the awesome selection of companions and unlocks, the story and voice acting were top notch and the added motherbase multiplayer on top of the standard PvP makes it the most impressive game of this year to me!

 
My GOTY is Halo 5, don't care if the campaign is the worst of the 5, it has the best multiplayer in the series and probably a top3 multiplayer ever

ARK, Ori and The Witcher 3 would've been good contender but I didn't play enough of those to judge them. PES2016 also if it would've been a PES2015 with updated rosters, but it's worse than 15 and didn't have updated rosters unti early december soooo...

 
Halo 5 gets my vote for best multiplayer of the year. Probably the best multiplayer I've ever played (Warzone). Tales From The Borderlands is my game of the year. It had all the feels.
 
Until Dawn and Destiny. 

Although I've already grown tired of Destiny again, it got it's hooks back in me for a good three months after the update.  And Until Dawn was just such a fun, different experience from other games.

I'm still trying to trade or sell Dark Souls 2 and I'm still waiting on Ride. I'm not even going include the games my brother is game sharing with me and the GwG games. My goal is to try to finish game I paid for then the free games. I think that's everybody's goal and even with a longer list of paid backlog lol. I'm still want Just Cause 3, Mad Max, Batman Arkham Knight, MGSVPP, SWBF, and I think I'm going to get both Dying Light and Zombie Army Trilogy.

In addition to game night I was thinking of another idea that could be fun for this year. A few of the PC guys had done this before and it originated because our Steam backlogs were getting ridiculous. The idea is that everyone interested gets paired up with one other person for the month, and you each list your backlogs for the other to peruse. Then you'd each pick 4 games from the backlog for your partner to beat that month, then share the experiences. Not sure if there's much interest, but if so I can make up a thread for that in the XBox section. I figure with most of us having absurd backlogs this would be a fun way to make some progress on them

There was. It was the black pearls exploit or whatever. I just love seeing all the gold but you realize you don't even really need all that gold in the game lol. It was just fun buying the necessities early in the game.

My GoTY this year is Frozen, for making my wife play it long enough to make me frustrated at video games; and, also forcing her to make her own gamertag/account so she can switch over :) :)wall:)

Zombie Army Trilogy gets a mention as well. The only game that has a more satisfying head-shot sound effect is Gears Of War UE. And playing with 3 other people with mics is unparalleled fun!

I think mine would have to be The Witcher 3, Destiny TTK and Rise of the Tomb Raider.

I play Destiny pretty much daily so it had to make the list.

I haven't finished The Witcher yet but what I did play I was enjoying a lot, it was the first I've played of the series so I wasn't sure what to expect but I wasn't too lost.

Rise of the Tomb Raider is probably my GOTY, I pretty much didn't put it down until I completed it. I thought it would be difficult to top how well they did with the reboot but they definitely pulled it off.
