I'm still having a hard time deciding my GotY and I've been thinking about it for the last month. Probably my favorites from this year are Lost Dimension, Gat out of Hell, and Eiyuu Senki. Yes, I realize none of these are "great" games, but I enjoyed playing them a lot.

With it being the end of the dailies I went a bit nuts and pulled the the trigger on the games I wanted. So I grabbed:

I also got Life is Strange yesterday and have $10 and some time to decide if I want to grab Alien Isolation or not. Though I'd rather put it towards Rogue Legacy if that ever goes on sale.

Tampon Run on iOS. I downloaded it tonight and deleted it in 5 minutes. Everything else this year was pretty great considering I started the year saying "I'm not going next gen" and by July I had an Xbox One.
 
Wanted to make the most out of the 5% in Xbox Rewards so I'm grabbing games on my dashboard that are $9.99 or less.

So far I got four indy games: Amazing Princess Sara, Bleed, DLC Quest, and DLC Quest: Live Freemium or Die.

Bought $50 in credit so I'll be exploring my dashboard to see what qualifies.

Pretty much stuff that doesn't seem to go on sale like said indy titles (picked up Katana Land next for $1.00). If I get enough fun out of the demo, like Arkanoid for example, then I'll pass on it and wait.

Plus it helps to see what I missed out on. I forgot all about Loco Cycle so I'm getting that. Had a blast with Comic Jumper so I have no problem putting $10 down for this one.

I'll take whatever little I can before the year ends. Big resolution for next year is to actually get through my 130+ games (and that's just Xbox digital).

It wasn't a remotely new game, but...uh... tried to make myself get through Final Fantasy XIII. Tried three times over the year. So awful. I feel sad just thinking about it.

 
at this point I'm convinced there must be something in the publishing language for both Ryse and Dead Rising 3 for the developers to be paid on number of downloads since it seems they will never get a crazy sale price or ....gasp a GwG release

The worst game I played this year had to be Chimpact on Android. The game is a ridiculously basic game where you use Angry Birds-like physics to move a monkey through trees in the jungle. It was atrocious.

So I played two bad games with almost the same title:
Need For Speed Undercover (360)
Need For Speed (Xbox One)

I've been a huge fan of Need for Speed since Need for Speed 2 on the PC (Ferrari F50 on the cover anyone? Jaguar xj220? Ford GT90?! Yes, please!). I owned NFS 2 (PCCD), NFS 3: Hot Pursuit (PCCD), NFS High Stakes (PCCD), Porsche Unleashed (PCCD) Hot Pursuit 2 (PS2) and even tried Motor City Online (PCCD). Underground 1 (still one of my favorite experiences) and 2 also for the PC/Xbox respectively, and lastly the original Most Wanted for the PC which was one of the best NFS games up to that point in my opinion. I didn't bother with Carbon more than a demo and the same for ProStreet and Undercover (when it released). Now, I did buy NFS: Shift for the PS3 because I really liked the way it looked in trailers and maybe it's bad, but I still don't mind playing it because it is what it is (freaking frustrating) and it does drifting pretty well. I kind of forgot about the NFS games after shift because they just kept rapid-fire releasing what seemed like turds. The Run had bad reviews, Shift 2 sucked (frankly I tried it later on and couldn't even complete the first race) and Hot Pursuit seemed like it was basically Burnout Paradise reskinned. I borrowed a copy of the 2012 version of Most Wanted and was pretty impressed but it felt a little monotonous, but definitely was a solid game. Funny, but I started playing the iOS NFS called NFS No Limits and it was actually pretty good. This left me really excited for the new Need for Speed. Then the visuals looked amazing and the car roster was just right, plus the tuning and mods seemed realistic.

Then I bought and installed the game after scoring a deal on Black Friday for it for $25, and quickly the shine wore off. The game has an obnoxious storyline that simply doesn't make sense (one never ending night of people going to and from a diner and other places to eat and drive and race? No one sleeps? And it always rains??), the loading times are amplified when every time you want to teleport to a race there's a hefty loading screen. Then your car be setup to drift or it can drive normally (read: sluggish) but you either need two different cars or to adjust the setup manually every time! Either way requires a loading screen and heading back into the garage, sigh. There's drift modes that require you to stick with your team, the suck because the cpu partner would ditch you if you bumped one thing and you made no points until you caught up. The other players online can literally crash into you while you're racing causing you to lose. Let's see, a storyline with zero direction just makes it feel like you're just checking races off a list randomly wondering what's going to trigger the next objective. Text boxes containing huge paragraphs of info pop up right in the middle of the screen during races! And did I mention the least interesting open world I've ever seen in a racer? It's miles of identical looking buildings and bridges and tunnels.

What disappointed me the most was that I really expected a lot out of this game and the execution just blew it. That's what made it worse.

And earlier I borrowed Undercover and couldn't believe how terribly the cars handled and choppy the graphics were in addition to a sucky storyline. Just a bad game. Glad I missed it when it came out.

Ok rant over. Time to put on my NFS 3 playlist I have ripped from the game lol..

Actually, I bought Mr. Driller next. I've never played the full version before; my only previous exposure to it was a PS1 demo.

I got so tired of seeing Shank 2 on sale that I caved and bought the first Shank.

South Park Let's Go Tower Defense Play? Time to play that.

Ark Survival! I'm sure several people here would slap me ... I know it's currently unfinished... but man I played with my 9yr old son and I just could NOT get into it or look past all its glitch flaws.
