I'm a big Forza fan but I usually pass on all the extra cars, like they don't give you enough to start lol.

Also, Yay Bama! At least it was close, have had some pretty bad blowout NCAA football recently.

 
So I just bought the Phantom Breaker DLC, and can't seem to make up my mind on FUSE.

$4 is a tempting price point and it's not on PC but there's always the possible of BC being added to EA Access, and the fact that it's apparently MP-focused doesn't help.

Can anyone recommend it?

360 sales these week are underwhelming if only because of the minimal selection and the fact that they're repeats. Good games though, I own NBA Jam and Crysis digitally and Syndicate on disk (I think?), and nothing really jumps out at me on the Xbone side, so it looks like I'll be skipping this week.

Also, what is this Gimme5 crap I missed?

Maybe I'm going to finish some games. I still haven't finished Pneuma, I don't like it but didn't uninstall because of the easy 1000G.

Pneuma gave me major motion sickness, to the point where I had to stop every half hour or so and then feel sick for the next hour or two. But hey, as you said, easy achievement points!

The Apex Predator is mainly for Endurance Mode but all outfits can be used in the campaign. You do get a bunch of rare cards to use in EM and in Score Attack as well.

In FIFA, you can build your own team with random players and club items that you get from in game packs of cards. You either spend in game coins, or if you don't have the time, you can buy a pack with real money.

Since it's random, you could get good players from opening 10 packs...or you could be opening hundreds of packs trying to get that one rare player you really want. People get addicted pretty easily.

The Ultimate Team mode works by using cards to unlock players. So to have the best cards, you need to open packs (w/ in-game currency you earn for completing matches or FIFA points which cost real money) or use the transfer market. The transfer market is essentially an Ebay for buying and selling these cards, but they only use in-game currency. So to get rich in the game, you can sell a high-end player from a top-tier pack, and build your team from there. In extreme cases, players get addicted to buying and selling on the transfer market that they get on and just trade, trade, trade. It's possible, albeit a grind, to succeed without spending money like some freemium games, but when you're constantly trying to have the best team, it becomes hard not to spend money. Think of it as having and sharing your Pokémon collection with friends. You always want to have the better holographic cards.

The method this particular kid seems to have been taking is opening packs using FIFA points until he found his superstar player which are extremely rare, but can make you rich in-game. You are correct in terms that eventually, you unlock duplicate players but they go right to the transfer market to bring back some money. Additionally, FIFA rewards players' performance in real life with special 'Team of the Week', 'Man of the Match', and 'Team of the Season' cards so new cards are added on a weekly basis. Therefore, there's always a reason to buy packs.

TL;DR: FIFA Ultimate Team is a card collecting game like Pokémon, and the kid was probably trying to open hundreds of packs to find his rare card (Let's say Scyther cuz he's the best of the original 150 :cool: )

Very true. I have spent probably $30 on FUT. It is very fun - and extremely addicting. Good thing I have the EA Access discount.

I would love a good open world Homefront game but I am seeing it seems geared towards co-op.  Isn't The Division going to take a bite of out that?

Thanks for the explanation. I find it baffling (although I shouldn't) that someone couldn't get every single card and be satisfied (if not bored) well before spending $8000 and have no more reason to buy anything. I'm glad I don't have much interest trying this kind of stuff because i'm sure i'd get hooked based on the completionist mentality I have. It's pretty clear why so many games are so desperate to incorporate these purchasing models in their games in some fashion.

Homefront is going to be a bit more like Far Cry this time - as far as I can tell. I've always wanted that vibe in a modern city, versus the Far Cry jungles all the time.

I think the Division is hoping to be a game people play for a long time - like Destiny.

Have you played Watch Dogs? If you want Far Cry in a modern city, Watch Dogs is your game. It is basically a Ubisoft cut-and-paste of Far Cry in Chicago, plus some hacking bits.

I'm holding off on Homefront for now. The first one admittedly had major issues with the structure and gameplay of the campaign, but I loved the atmosphere and story, and the multiplayer was phenomenal. That said, this new one has been passed between three different studios. I will wait and see...

I am one of the few people on Earth who loved Watch Dogs. Yes, I played it to completion on PS4, then bought it again on XB1. Great game.

 
For Honor is going to have a solo campaign. Whether it'll just be some tacked on horse shit where you play as some generic character with no personality or name or a fully fleshed out, engaging experience remains to be seen.

I picked it up for $2 bucks and some change (had some left over credit, it was on sale at the time for $9.99 at gamestop). It may just be the one I play next...

 
NCAA was the last time I went nuts on an Ultimate Team. I spent $200 on that game after all was said and done. I also played over 500 hours though so it was worth it. Plus we had weekly tournaments so I could catch up with old friends.

I want the Porsche pack but I'm still not happy about them not being in game at the start. GT's exclusivity expired before the One even came out so they're just milking it now. I know it's only $5 but it's the pricinpality of the matter!

And now I want to go back and play Watch Dogs again. I might wait for a good digital sale as I already beat it on PS4. Definitely picking up Syndicate on digital though. Great deal at $4!

I really enjoyed Watch Dogs. I think it got an unfair reception mostly due to its initial marketing and hype. The initial hype was never realistic and poorly timed to coincide with new consoles so a lot of the thought was that the game was going to be something revolutionary when it turned out to be something iterative with unique concepts. The characters in the game didn't help either, but I think some of the hacking ideas in the game made it fun, relatively fresh and were well done. Yes, there's plenty that can be improved upon, but that's what sequels are for.
