They really do. The ongoing Joey Logano/Matt Kenseth beef is pretty entertaining.

So basically, Logano spun Kenseth out to win a big race in Kansas last year, then at Talladega they had a brief collision with some trash talk, and the following week at Martinsville, Kenseth got revenge on Logano by spinning him out while he was still in position to do well.

This year, they collided at Talledega which put Kenseth on his roof, and the two had words after the race.​

I want the NASCAR expansion for Forza but then I would have to reinstall Forza which I will pass for now. Although part of me wants to watch people drive like goddamn NASCAR drivers online and wreck people. Man if I can only hear the rage.

 
Damn, I am tempted to buy many of those 360 retail games even tho I already own physical copies as it will be nice to just have them on my Xbox One hard drive once they go backwards compatible. Thankfully, its looking like this will be the last generation of Xbox consoles that have to worry about backwards compatibility. Gotta give MS mad props on that whole development.

Not really.

Are you saying that because this console is named the Xbox One, that means that future consoles will assuredly be backwards compatible? I'm not saying the next Xbox won't be BC, but I don't see how the current console's name somehow guarantees that.

Microsoft/Xbox has said this directly in the past few months. Their aim is to make it so any future console or gaming system will allow you to play every game you already own. You will not have to re-buy anything that you've already bought in the past or currently own. (Not sure if they're aiming for just digital content or if it includes discs, too.)

Don't call it a remaster though. It does not appear to have any graphical or performance upgrades at all. This is a straight up port with the DLC added in.

Edit: Not that they were ever bad looking games but a better framerate and maybe an upgrade to the fight system would have been nice.

I stand corrected. Funny they decided not mention this in the video. A little more reading and I guess they redid the game in Unreal 4? Hmmm I wonder what that exactly entails. Might be interested now. Hopefully Batman is a bit more nimble in Arkham Asylum.

Based on the history of these things so far that visual enhancement will be a 1080 upconvert and they won't bother to do anything else.

Yeah he's describing the dream. It's not a guarantee that BC happens next generation. They are laying the foundation for a number of things that would make it more likely, but we won't know until we get to that next hardware cycle.

I'm an ID@Xbox dev and I can tell you that there are numerous challenges with UWP and not all devs are on board. Not all games are UWP.

 
Disappointed by that Arkham trailer. It says visually enhanced but I didn't see much of a difference at all. Unless both games run at 60fps, that would be a big selling point.

A remaster is still a type or port, just with optimized performance and resolution.

Still, dropping the assets in a better, more powerful engine.. now I am even more curious.

Actually debating trading in my copies of 1 and 2 toward this.

I never look at the credits vs the originals but something to consider, if they are just doing remasters to shape up better development teams (getting new people on a development team familiar with their workflow etc). Something to think about but obviously not everybody thinks that way, people are too used to complaining about everything in general (educate yourself first, research).

I may be just a skeptic here, but I highly doubt companies use remasters as an advertisement tool. Hell most of the remasters, like this one, are outsourced to a completely different company.

FF7 is a remake, not a remaster.

Remaster - Port optimized for a newer generation computer/console, can include improved resolution, assets, and better/more stable frame rate. Sometimes they can have new features added, or parts of the game changed to better optimize the play. It still for all intents and purposes the same game as the original release.

Gears of War Remaster, Wind Waker HD, etc etc.

Remake - Entirely new game from the ground up, new code, new assets and new gameplay. Usually sticks very close to the original game in plot and gameplay but can deviate due to changing standards.

Examples: Resident Evil GC, Lufia DS, FF7, Tomb RaIder Anniversary, Conker Live and Reloaded.

Personally, I don't consider games that take the existing assets (Models, animation, code) and dump them into a new engine a remake. Remake has to be completely new from the ground up, save for music/sound effects.

A port is just taking the game from one platform and putting it on another with as little changes as possible, save for those needed due to limitations, or for optimization.

A reboot is harder to define, usually a reimagining of an existing game or franchise to bring it to a modern audiance. Reboots can fall into the remake, sequel, and completely new retelling categories.

Got COD BO 1 working last night, graphics look great for so many years old.  Forgot how much fun the first one was. Love the BC development with Microsoft, hoping for some other great retro games.

 
I just wish they'd let us play Xbox games on the XB1...

I doubt it would take much processing power at all, and really wouldn't even need relicensing if you can just put the disc in an play unlike the 360's having to redownload/relicense everything.

Is it sad I'm playing Modern Warfare 3 for the first time, and am impressed by the set pieces?

Yes, achievements pop-up even for yarny, just like the other trials. 10 hours is plenty of time too...though you can only play the first two chapters.
