Please note:

  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console. Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work. Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance, but DLC cannot.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.
On Xbox One, Gold trials of any length work for sales and Games with Gold. You must be an active Gold subscriber (paid or trial) to play Games with Gold purchases.
  • On Xbox 360, you must have at least a 1 month Gold subscription for sales and Games with Gold. Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.

It really does sound like RDR will work with any version you might own:

Today we're happy to announce that Red Dead Redemption will be released as part of Microsoft’s Xbox One Backward Compatibility program this coming Friday, July 8th.

Starting on Friday, every Red Dead Redemption Xbox 360 owner will be able to play the game directly on their Xbox One, regardless of which version of the game they own (Red Dead Redemption, Undead Nightmare and Red Dead Redemption: Game of the Year Edition). And for those who have yet to experience it, the game will be available to purchase on Friday from the Games Store on Xbox One.

Stay tuned to the Newswire for more details.

..hoping the $8 I paid for Life is Strange isn't too much.
It's not. The game is fantastic, but it takes awhile to get going. The first chapter is your typical development of the characters, but it really takes off depending on how much time you're putting into looking around and exploring Max's mind.

Source: Watching my sister-in-law play it at this very moment. She's about 75% finished with Chapter 1 (according to my memory) and her current opinion is "It's okay. A lot of puzzles. I just want it to get rolling already."

That message still seems unclear to me. They're saying whichever version you own will work on XB1. That doesn't specify whether it will include all of the content despite which version you own or if it's only the stuff you own that will work. I would love it to be the first one as I never bought any DLC for the game. I have yet to experience Undead Nightmare.

Slept too long on picking up the rest of the Mass Effect DLC.  On the plus side by the time I actually play the games, DLC will be about $2, right?

Is Stick of Truth worth it for $8?  Has anyone seen a better price than that for the game anywhere?

So far I picked up Braid, Red Dead Redemption, and Final Fight: Double Impact.  Not sure there's anything on the X1 side for me

edit: Oh yeah... Ryse Legendary Edition.  Does that give me extra single player content, or is it multiplayer based?

Stick of Truth was 8 bucks during its last sale. Unless you plan on preordering Fractured Butthole (comes free with it) then I'd say it's a damn good price. Very fun game if you like the humor.

Waiting for the new South Park to come out could get you the Stick of Truth code cheaper as many peeps will be selling their codes in the trading thread, and I want to say every 360 code has been in that thread for $5 or fewer. Sometimes it takes time for the prices to drop, but once there's a ton it'll drop. Disregard this. I'm an idiot. Darby pwned me.

Since you said you won't be playing Mass Effect anytime soon, I'd assume the same for Stick of Truth? If you can wait, you'll save a few bucks but, as mentioned, it's easily worth the $8. If you're even a casual fan of South Park, I'd recommend a buy and play immediately. Just my two cents.

It's all multiplayer DLC, which is why they delisted the base version of the game so you have no choices but to buy the more expensive option if you want it digitally.

This is a different version of the game than what comes with FBW though.

eBay and CDKeys have codes for the basic edition, but if you have spacebucks to burn you'll need to buy the Legendary Ed.

Last I checked, Ryse was going for $15-25 on fleabay so this sale is actually pretty good for digital.

Okay, seriously. What is the "twist" in Inside that people are talking about? I beat it and watched the secret ending on Youtube and I wouldn't call anything I saw a twist. Just weird.

Is it the secret ending? That you were essentially controlling the main character the same way he controlled other people? Because I didn't find that surprising at all. I was assuming that's what the normal ending was going to be

I did enjoy the atmosphere and puzzles, though.
I guess we have different opinions on what a twist is because in my book:

playing 90% of the game as a little boy and then suddenly becoming a huge blob of arms and legs is a MAJOR twist. There was no hint that such a major shift would occur and it completely changed the entire direction of the game. How someone doesn't see that as a major twist, in both gameplay and narrative, is beyond my understanding, but hey to each thier own. Call it whatever you like. I call it a twist and a pretty major one at that.

ryse legendary edition at 9.90 is a very good deal. Survival mode is a lot of fun. The story is pretty decent, but short. You get all of the dlc as well, great deal for a very underrated game.

Well since I have $25.50 in M$ from Bing/Fallout 4 I think I will grab Far Cry 4, Kinect Sports Rivals, Ryse: Legendary Edition, Saints Row Metro Double Pack, Unravel, Batman: Arkham Knight, and Pacman 256 for 54.05 of my own money and call it a week. I guess when you buy 5 things from the ultimate sale, 1 from the weekly sale and 1 $5 game, you can't complain too much about the sale.

My cousin asked me today so I thought I'd get you guys' opinions before answering him:

He asked if he should get a Xbone S or wait for the Scorpio?
It depends on what he has now and what he wants. We really don't know much about the Scorpio (even the name may change) except that it has at least 5.5 teraflops of power. We don't know what it looks like, how it will change our games, or if it will be worth whatever the initial price is. If I had to take a guess I would say the Scorpio will be at least $499 if it launches Holiday 2017. If he doesn't want to spend that much money and wants to wait for the Scorpio to drop in price he is looking at waiting at least until Holiday 2018 or Holiday 2019 before the Scorpio will make significant price drops. Initially I would expect Microsoft to make all games work on both for several years and then eventually things will start to shift to the Scorpio as more people adopt it.

Of course all of this is just speculative so take this advice for as much worth as what you paid for it. Microsoft could do another 360 turn like they did on the Xbox One the year it came out and completely change what the Scorpio is and does before it releases.

Started yesterday with my Bean dive (got a late start) for TrueAchievements. It is kind of a pain to quickly get 1 achievement for a game and move on to the next.  I am at 12 games right now and I really want to get to 50 before the end on Sunday.  It has dropped me 3.5%.  I was hoping to drop 20% but I don't think I am making it.

I played the training level of Defense Grid 2 looking for 1 achievement and 6 popped when I finished. :)

I'm in for the Saints Row/Metro Redux 4 Pack. It's actually a pretty damn good deal as far as I'm concerned....plus it lets me rake in all'em savings

From what I've been reading and hearing from xbox official posts is the Scorpio is just like the Nintendo's New 3DS. It'll make some games run better and look better but not all xbox one games. If we're going that path, then there will be some exclusive tech gimmicks that the Scorpio will only be able to do that the original xb1 and xb1s won't be able to do BUT the game will still run on all 3 console models regardless.

I'm probably just going to start over and grab it on Steam for $5 next time it's on sale rather than pay that much.

fuck Overwatch competitive mode.
I just got suspended for 2 hours because the server disconnected.
#deals
Just don't play competitive, it's not worth it unless you roll with a full team.

Overwatch is a great game but it's so 'casual' and honestly kinda scrubby that I wonder why everyone takes it so seriously.

I need another recommendation. CS: GO on X360: yay or nay? I'm aware the game has not been updated for long on console compared to the PC which has skins, new maps and tons of new stuff, but is the game solid enough on the 360? And, even more importantly, are the servers dead or is there a healthy amount of people playing it? I'd expect BC to boost the amount of players, but I'm not spending 7.50 on a game that is basically dead.

Get the regular game now and wait and see. I'm sure you can find the DLC for cheap, but even then the undead nightmare stuff is for the end of the story. You can at least play through the main game until then.
Good point. I'm sure I won't regret paying less than $8 for a game so highly praised anyway. Cheers!

All the dlc packs are mostly multiplayer emphasized. Some new weapons are in each pack and is usable in single player but the biggest single player dlc is the obvious undead nightmare expansion.
I saw the word "Co-op" hinted somewhere else, but further digging revealed XBL/system link only; doubt I'll miss it much. Thanks for the reply!

Unfairly maligned launch title. Still the best looking game this gen imo
It fell victim of the X1 hate, just as Titanfall ("IS IT DEAD??? LMAO" from people that had to either play Killzone MP or COD MP to have an fps) or Halo 5 ("343I RUINED HALO! fuck 343" coming from people that never played an Halo game in their lives).

As long as you didn't care for the story, the game was really fun. Nothing deep of course, but enjoyable. The faces (and their animations) were the most realistic I've ever seen in a game honestly.

Am I crazy (well I am) but did I remember reading about how a scratched 360 disc that wouldn't play on a 360 would have a better chance of playing on the one?

My sister's ex-boyfriend (douche) moved my 360 a few years back when he was trying red dead redemption and gave me the the giant circle scratch. It will boot up but once in game it says it cant read it. I would test it but RDR doesn't become BC until the 8th.

If it can identify that its a RDR then you're good to go. It'll just download the game then from the marketplace.

Got :360: Life is Strange Ep 1 (not on sale) but I did grab the :360: season pass that was on sale and :360: Gat Out of Hell as well as :xb1: Metro Redux :xb1: Metro Last Light Redux (I already own the bundle and stackable achievements) and  :xb1:  Sleeping Dogs DE.  Still considering Tales of Vesperia, MK vs DCU, Dragon Age GOTY  and Watch_Dogs CE (I already own the base disc games and the DLC never goes on sale)

To me, Ryse is to XboxOne what The Order 1886 is to PS4. Both are beautiful to look at. Both are short to play through. Both received a fair amount of dislike for various reasons. Both are in my collection and will not be sold/traded off because I'd love to play through them again.

While I've never played the multiplayer dlc for Ryse, I would highly recommend the single player to anyone, great price!

Any of you know how healthy the matchmaking community is on Borderlands: THC?

BL2 on 360 is 90% children, and I'm going to have to build a raid team from scratch.

I can (barely) stomach Rocket League solo, but Borderlands is a whole different animal.

Wait until the fall for Xbox Clubs/LFG, or try to start a LFG thread on here.

Eh, agree to disagree. When I see the word twist used I was expecting there to be some sort of revelation or something about the world you were exploring. If you want to use the word twist for something unexpected happening, then I guess that qualifies. But it was more of a complete from-left-field bizarre thing that happened, not anything that made any particular sense. Not sure why people are calling it brilliant.

I don't have it but I'd have to assume it's not worth it. The game never was updated, and at launch CS:GO was trashed on pretty hard for the changes to the game from CS: Source. It only became stupid popular once skins were added and it took off on Twitch. I'd guess it only became BC because Valve probably gave the thumbs up for all their titles at once.

Though I did find this thread from 2 months ago.

Still pretty active, both casual and competitive. You should find people to play with at anytime. Lag? There's some lag here and there. I'd say it's more like cod because one guy on the other team will teleport and still do good which is annoying! To tell how bad your connection to the host is: is by jumping and waiting for the sound deley when you hit the ground, the sound when you break the windows/glass and just check the game time as it can be funky.

I said GTA IV. That is a four in roman numerals.
Not everyone went to college, Mr. Smartyman.
I learned it in 8th grade :/

I learned it by watching the Rocky movies.
I'm fairly confident my nephew learned it in 2nd grade. I remember being very young and realizing that the MCMXVIII in the logos of movies was the year they were released. You all are failures.

My son and I really enjoyed playing lego marvel. Im tempted by Lego Avengers but it didnt review nearly as well. Does anyone have any thoughts on the game to sway me one way or the other?

Valhalla Hills is coming to XB1 on 9/27 (disc and digital) for $39.99. (This is a world building/managing strategy game w/ Vikings.) See some gameplay on its Steam page.

Full scoop:

True Vikings never give up -- even when the Gods have closed the Asgard gates and locked them out of the afterlife. In Valhalla Hills for Xbox One, take care of your scrappy and resilient band of Vikings as you guide them into Valhalla. Build an economy, chop wood, and gather food while bringing them to the portal at the top of the hills.

More Information

Vexed Vikings

  • After spending their lives aiming to please the Gods, a group of proud Vikings who've fought and died with honour arrive at gates of Valhalla, eager to enter the afterlife
  • But the Gods are ungrateful, and mysteriously choose to close the Asgard Gates right in front of the poor Vikings
  • Vikings, however, aren't the type to give up and call it a day; if the Gods won't let them enter Valhalla the traditional way, they'll have to find another means
Classic strategy

  • Take care of your small but growing population of Vikings by gathering food, chopping wood, and looking after the group's needs
  • Build a balanced economic system to support your growing population so that your group can continually improve and use new knowledge
  • Overcome randomly generated levels with various challenges as you aim for the portal on top of Valhalla Hills

Honestly... looks kinda fun, in an "is this an iPad game?" kind of way...

Having loved Lego marvel, I thought Lego Avengers was just as fun. The only drawback is no X-men or Fantastic 4 characters but there's a ton of characters still and it's identical to Lego Marvel in that you can free roam in NY and collect things plus there's multiple other hubs to explore. I definitely recommend it.

Am I able to use XBox live credit to buy 360 games from xbox.com?  I no longer have a 360.  Just a XBox One.

I normally don't have a credit card on my account but have my paypal linked.  This allows me to get the free GWG 360 games.

However I can't seem to buy 360 games with my credit.  I even added a credit card today but still don't see the option to use the credit I have.

Elsewhere people claim it should work but I get conflicting results as read various websites.
