It's getting mixed feedback here in the thread just like the reviews. I gave it love, Ryu gave it hate, and Pheran/Groo gave 'meh' feedback because coop is fun.

I'll again vouch for it since u are asking specifically for single player. While co-op is a blast, I had just as much fun in single player. I played 3 straight solo playthroughs followed by 2 coop playthrough s with various partners as the online works where u just join an ongoing game if u please.

For $5, its worth a shot. Especially if u like LotR. If you get it and single player is as boring as they say, hit me up. I have a sealed copy and would gladly jump back in as it's one of my 5 favorite 360 games.

Ms. Splosion Man was free as part of... something... a while back. I know because i have it, and I never would have paid for it otherwise. I'm thinking it was part of a Taco Bell contest/giveaway thingy where you could win game codes, free months of Gold, etc. I actually ended up with like 3 Ms. Splosion Man codes out of it and gave 2 away to friends. What I REALLY wanted was one of the other games, and I never got that one, I did end up with like 3 free months of Gold at the time though so.... between that and 2 or 3 free moths from MS themselves for Live screw-ups over the years my Gold subscription renewal date ended up like 6 months off from when it actually started as a cycle.

I've never traded in an outright broken controller but I've traded in enough that I wouldn't buy back to say that I wouldn't ever buy a used one. Mine aren't ever a fraction as nasty as some of them too and they don't really clean them.

Yeah, I was grossed out by the caked up sweat I found when I took my 360 controller apart to replace the thumb sticks. And it was my own sweat since it was the controller that came with the system.

And the sticks on the XB1 controller are so much worse with all those little texture things and the top inside collects it like no other controller I've ever had while being impossible to clean. Supposedly the S controller is supposed to be more resistant to that build up.

 
The 360 controller is pretty easy to take apart and fix. There are videos how to repair a drifting controller. Just search for it on Google. Normally you pop it apart clean the sticks and youre good to go.

I'd say it's worth it. It's a fun game, different to most shmups since you control an helicopter and, most of all, isn't another garishly colored bullet hell.

They did a One Hot Holiday promotion when the XB1 launched. Some menu items had peel off stickers on them with codes you redeemed on their web site for stuff. Some winners were XB1 systems, Ms. Splosion Man, The Maw and Aqua were the games available, there were some TV episodes. It wasn't my healthiest week of eating.

 
Well, it's not surprising, but it sucks. They patched Xcom so the tile says Pre-ordered again, and I can't play it now. Pretty bummed cause I was actually pretty far in it, and really enjoying it. Would definitely recommend it to anyone on the fence

I finished the 360 version without any issues, but it was the digital version.

Generally, my advice is that if you are having issues with a disc game that doesn't look defective/scratched to hell, just install it to HDD and save yourself the headache. If it still performs like crap, either it's the game or some sort of cache/update issue.

Normally I install all my game to the HD but you are not even given the option for Tales of the Borderlands.

Does this mean I will get back $6 in Microsoft credit at the end of September?

Even after reading the FAQs page, I still don't understand the difference between MyVIP % Back and regular ol' Rewards Credits (5000 = I get $5).  I see consistent deposits of credits into my Microsoft account because I buy games, but I have no idea how many credits each, say, $20 purchase (Rocket League, for example) is contributing.  ...Help would be appreciated.  :)

I just started playing Battlefront too and the season pass content looks cool but even with Bespin expansion being free to play this week I can hardly ever find full games in the playlist,only way I'm buying is at $25 or less and even that's too much for dead content.

First you need to convert rewards money as points. Every $1 in rewards is equal to 1000 points. Points are earned based on your My VIP star level. If you are level 1 and have XBox Live Gold your percentage rate on purchases is 2% so if you spent $20 on games in the XBox Marketplace your reward points would be 20000 * .02 = 400 pts = $.40 For Level 5 with gold it would be 20000 * .1 = 2000 points = $2.00

So you are correct with VIP level 5 with gold the $60 purchase = 6000 pts. You must buy a lot of games to be level 5 :)

Oh, didn't know it was a free weekend for that. Doesn't sound promising that it's pretty dead though.

I think that Death Star expansion may be big though - if it's as good as it looks.
 
It's nice of Xbox to have a Batman sale this week in celebrate of Batman Day today.  It's more than what the networks are doing (aka nothing). 

I like how Xbox has their free games every two weeks since it motivates me to keep playing my Xbox (i.e. finish backlog). Picking up Ass Creed: China and Mirror's Edge.

If you haven't tried this game alreay...
Albeit great game, but Ms Xplosion Man is even better (why not give that one instead? Newer and better but still old)

I have not nearly gotten $120 worth of play time between Gold and PS Plus. (And no, simply adding the MSRPs up is not at all an accurate way to assess value)

PS Plus is worthless.

Why would you pay $60 for a year of either? You should really not be paying anymore than $40. And Gold easily gives me well over $40 worth of play time a year.

No one is forcing you to download the game bud. My "$60" comes from playing multiplayer, the games are a bonus.
 
If you used to play Battlefield or Counter-Strike on PC back in the early 2000's I think it gives you greater appreciation for Xbox Live. I understand how much it costs to run a server online cuz I used to be part of guilds that would run our own private ones, so $40 for a year of awesome online servers is a steal. The GWG are just icing on the cake for me.

$1800 to reach five stars haha I just hit four myself which is $1200 but there is no way I can spend $600 more by January haha

I recently hit level 4 too and there is no way I see me spending enough to make level 5 by the end of the year when it will reset anyway.

You should do this. I replayed it on my Wii U after getting Nintendon't set up when I was snowed in earlier this year. Game still holds up and still looks fantastic.

Playing through BioShock Remastered, it's incredible at 60fps. The combat is a little archaic but still fun. The story absolutely still holds up. Once I'm 100% done here it's onto Infinite.

FYI, I used some Best Buy credit to get the collection for $20 w/GCU. I got Recore from the MS store as well but I might sell it on eBay and use that money to get the Arkham Collection. Has anyone here actually played Recore and like it so far?
 
The last batman game I played was batman arkham city, is the collection with it for $24, I've been debating it all week long but I just can seem to pull the trigger on it

I know, it and its sequel are probably the most technically advanced games made for the Gamecube. And to think Factor 5 started development on a remaster of the Rogue Squadron trilogy, running at 60 fps and with added bells and whistles...

I squealed like a little girl when I realized the first mission was blowing up the Death Star! And then some more when the third mission had me tripping AT-ATs using a speeder in Hoth! That game was the best fan service I ever saw!
 
If you decide to buy Under Defeat HD on 360, make sure to enable twin stick controls in the options menu to make the shooting a bit easier. It doesn't make the game a cakewalk, but it's better than the default control scheme.
 
Not really. Shmups are not designed for twin stick control. It's like the recently remastered Resident Evil games - the modern control scheme is more accessible but it breaks the game design since you never have to stop to turn and many enemies just can't catch you.

You're right about most shmups, but Under Defeat is different in that the default controls are unwieldy. Or at least they were difficult for me. I never played it on Dreamcast so this is my first time playing the game. But I could see the controls making it harder to play which is why I think they added a second option.
