So part cautionary tale, part serious question:

The Halo Warthog was not showing up in Forza Horizon 3 Autoshow for me, though I redeemed the code and it was downloaded.  So, I thought, I'd uninstall it and then re-install it, and then re-launch the game.  However, once I uninstalled it, it can no longer be found (under Ready to Install).  Any ideas?

It's weird, I could use my Warthog in game before it actually showed as installed, it had been in the waiting to install area but still was in my garage. It may not be worth your time, but I'm sure you could get a MS rep over chat to fix it

Hmm - I actually re-started the game and had my Rewards Cars (and Forza Rewards Credits), but no Warthog. Maybe I'll try it again later before contacting MS for support (typically those chats are like an hour long about anything, no matter how trivial). Appreciate the advice :)

 
Just to reiterate something we were talking about in the Official Collector's thread. Do not pay anyone anything for those Gears of War 4 codes, its very easy to do yourself for free.

1. Buy this from Amazon.com using your credit card on file. https://amzn.com/B01HHCA1IO They don't charge until it ships and you will be cancelling the order immediately. I picked this one because it currently requires extra 1-2 days processing so there's little to no chance it immediately jumps into the shipping phase.

2. Cancel the order, don't even wait for the confirmation e-mail from Amazon

3. Wait 15 or so minutes and then check your email for a "Benefit Confirmation" - this is the code that you are currently paying $15+ for

I got my code from him for $15, I was a nervous wreck. Redemption was a breeze and it showed up on my Ready to Install list and worked perfectly. Despite what that guy on NeoGAF is saying about it being an Amazon glitch or whatever, I don't see how NVidea could really know which keys were issued in a legitimate purchase situation and which ones weren't.

In any case, I felt it was worth the gamble because I'm only mildly interested in Gears 4, and for now the gamble paid off.

Licence fees to the car manufacturers, music in game etc. They likely had a fixed term contract that's running out. To keep it up, they'd have to go through another round of contracts. That costs money in addition to the actual fees too, mind. For the likely amount of sales dribbling in, it's probably just not financially beneficial to spend the time/money on it.

 
Woke up this morning and immediately saw a text about the Gears debacle. I have never been happier that I missed out on a cheap pre-order. Sorry for all of those who ended up getting ripped off, I didn't think Amazon could be so dumb. They must have inherited Newegg's incompetence now that Newegg seemingly learned its lesson (only took them 4 or 5 instances of the same glitch).

To the person who just posted how to do this, that was a really bad idea. I'd recommend removing your post immediately.

It's a licensing thing. They probably agree to the same contracts for every game, which is why the delisting is an annual affair.

It's actually VERY easy. Just revoke any codes associated with purchases that got canceled. Amazon does keep records of this stuff, you know.

Now will they do this? Can't say for sure.

I used buyer protection so I'm not worried. As far as I know, my seller buys a lot of video cards. I'm not the FBI so it's not my job to police criminal activity. If I lose access to the game I'll just file a paypal claim and they can go after the seller.

Lulz I legitimately didn't even see what the trick was and figured it out in 5 minutes. Glad I didn't buy a code. It's kinda scummy but Amazon is fucking stupid for this.
 
So I did the Amazon thing, and I have the promo code, but I'm terrified of redeeming it. I feel as if I should just leave it in my inbox and wait to see how this plays out. I already preordered the Ultimate Edition through the Xbox store but I'll likely give this code to my godson as a birthday gift if Amazon doesn't go on a revoking rampage.

Yes, I do feel a little scummy, but Amazon hasn't had a decent gaming sale since Obama started his second term so I see this as a way to make up for lost time. That's just how it go in the trap, brah.

Computers use databases and a competent engineer will likely have set it up so that everything that's issued is associated with what it was generated from and what it issued. So if Nvidia or MS want to make a stink they would get a list of keys generated from cancelled orders and cross reference that with redemption. Considering the game redeems directly to your MS account instead of generating another key that makes it even easier for them. So let's all hope for the best and that worst case scenario is the game gets revoked and no one gets sent to Oman.

This is too big to be Oman 2.0 but as much as I hope it won't happen I think they're gonna revoke the license at the very least. I mean, the exploit is still open, and people are still taking advantage. At this rate nobody is actually going to pay for Gears 4, but everyone will have it, and someone's gotta foot the bill.
 
I feel like I should request a refund on eBay. If I have to should I do it directly through the site or Paypal? I've never bought a scam code before.

It's been on sale a few times over the last two or three months so it's possible. Demonstrates the whole problem with how this stuff is handled though. Why not tell people it's happening when you're putting it on sale two weeks ago?

Amazon is the one that generates the codes right so they're to blame?  I think they did this before but with beta codes, nothing happened to those that got those codes and they continued to play.  So hopefully they nip this already and let it go.

There's been a screw up at some point for nearly every PC game given away with a GPU lately (most stemming from Newegg). As far as I'm aware all the keys that were used to get keys from Nvidia or AMD were revoked at some point but the keys that those generated weren't. So there's hope but only time will tell.

Why would you not pick up the Season Pass (which is the same price AND includes the Rally expansion)?

It might be on sale the week before, it's a first-party title so sales are probably really easy to schedule for it.

Yeah, this is an annual occurrence now. I don't know why people are surprised anymore, especially since they decided to make this one "free" just in time. Now F5 is an Xbone game, so they might have changed the contracts since then, so we'll see.

This. Amazon doesn't charge 'till it's starting to be shipped, gives you plenty of time.

 
If you use the code and add the game to your account, you should be fine. Once you redeemed it, they most likely won't take it back. Sitting on the nvidia code is what you shouldn't do because that code, they can void. 

Happened with The Division codes when they were $0.01. I redeemed one months ago and they never took the license away but they did however void the 3 other nvidia Division codes I didn't use like 3 days after the glitch. So basically redeem it if you want it or hold and lose it.

How you join this? I haven't tried any new features. All I do is turn my console on and go straight to Madden, 2K, or Netflix. I know nothing lol.

edit- oh that's probably a FH3 club, nvm. Don't have that yet, soon tho.
