Thanks, decided to pick it up. I've dabbled in shoot-em-ups over the years, like fighting games it's a genre I'm drawn to trying but I never seem to get any good at it.

Also picked up a couple of the Kinect games on sale on 360, my kids have been into Kinect Adventures lately and it's always nice to have stuff we can play together.

Not sure if I'd call it "one of the worst games ever" but this is a dick move. I figured if they did release a GoTY type edition that they'd sell it at least at the $59.99 mark.

$40 is great for everyone else but a low blow for early fans, considering the 4th content won't even be released until November.

Ad-sponsored, new releases? That's ridiculous. This is a free service. Hulu is still charging people to watch ads. This is also the launch of a new service for VUDU so they're going to take it cautiously. Of course it's going to be this kind of stuff. This is just another version of Crackle which is good and bad, I suppose.

For a game like this, part of the value in paying up front is to play alongside everyone else at launch, and the cash flow sustains development for future packs. Content aside I see it as people paying for the online community which is at its height when games like this (and new DLC packs) come out.

That said, a $50 season pass was batshit craziness highway robbery from the beginning, and yeah, an MRSP for less than that is a bit of a Shaq-Fu to early buyers.

Also, the absence of a real single player campaign completely boggles my mind.

I was planning on signing up for FilmStruck when it was scheduled to launch tomorrow, but that got pushed into November. A new streaming service backed by Turner Classic Movies and the Criterion Collection. Something to push me ever closer to being a cord cutter. Consoles aren't in the supported device list at present, but hopefully soon.

Got the base game as the selected game last November with my Xbox One. Been holding off on the DLC with the hopes a complete edition will come out. Getting this and gifting my current vanilla copy to my brothers so we can play against each other.

(I didn't realize so many people hated Battlefront though - I enjoyed it. Not as much as Battlefield, but still a great game.)

It was sparse as fuck at launch. They were selling a $30 game for double that, and more if you got the "Ultimate Edition". I really didn't care about a lack of a campaign. The multiplayer would have been fine if it weren't so devoid of content. And I understand DLC is the rationale for explaining missing content, but holy shit, EA/DICE really held a ton of shit behind the paywall. Charging an extra $10 for early access to Hans blaster when it could be unlocked after like 2 hours of playing was the epitome of greed. BUT.....people bought that version. They were right to do it.
 
For the amount of people playing SW Battlefront, even at that price, it's overpriced. EA charging $15 per dlc pack is crazy for the little content provided. Been playing the fighter battles almost exclusively and it seems to always be the same small group of people playing. And the later it gets the fewer people online. At 5am est there were five guys playing...

Still going to fork over the $15 for the Death Star dlc, but that's it, won't be buying any of the others.
 
Does 30 day EA access code stack w/ 12 month? I remember someone saying one of their EA subs was cancelled out when they added another one

Folks that work second shift, or folks that don't work, night owls, insomniacs, people that play before work or school. Lots of people are up at that time. My one friend is always up that early waiting on calls for work (construction, they never know if they'll have work ahead of time because of bad weather). I've never seen a game that dead at that time. BF4, Halo, CoD, ESO, ME3, never have only five guys playing at any time.
 
5am is literally the ONLY time I've played in the past couple weeks. New 10am-6pm schedule means that my only gaming is early morning before the family is up.  By the time they fall asleep, I'm about done as well.  My current gaming time is from whenever I wake up until 8-9am (the family gets up) so I'm constantly setting alarms for 5am to get some backlog knocked out. 

It's working too.  I finished Kung Fu Panda, Tomb Raider and The Fall all in the last two weeks.  Just started Far Cry 3. That game is so much fun.  At least the first couple hours.

Far cry 3 is one of the best games of all time for certain types of gamers

one being me

there is only one flaw in that game and it is the lack of bad guys after you beat the game

if they had some sort of reset or something for the bad dudes that game would be perfect

Yeah, but you could probably hold off until the DLC is on sale since play order doesn't really matter, or find the install disc. If you only get one at full price I'd say Old World Blues. I bought them all on launch and enjoyed them, but I really love NV. I don't know if I'd recommend Honest Hearts or Dead Money at $10 each now.

If you're comparing to the currently on sale FO4 season pass, they're miles better in value. Even though only OWB and maybe Lonesome Road come close in size to the big DLCs of 4, the writing and quests are better, and they're all full blown DLC with out the filler Vault Workshops. Even Gun Runners' Arsenal is ahead of those as far as filler is concerned.

The Ultimate Edition usually goes on sale for ~$12 in November and December. I bought a digital copy of the base game for $5 last year just to have the convenience of no disc, but then got the UE for the on-disc DLC (and way cheaper than XBL) for super cheap. IMO it's the best of both worlds, all the content installed but a hard copy on standby.

Yeah, if they had a post-game where the AI was just cranked up and you had to recapture an island or some outposts once you have all the character upgrades unlocked, that would be Shaq-Fuing amazing.

 
Never gave Battlefront a try but I think that ship has sailed now with all these other MP games coming out.

Ahh who the fuck am I kidding, I only got time for Gears 4.

For those with EA Access who didn't buy the Battlefield 1 Early Enlister Edition, I thought all the multiplayer modes were supposed to be open for us too now? Still see the same ones -- no air superiority, which I was particularly wanting to check out.

Wow I am so happy to grab Raiden V on sale. It's actually one of the true XBox One exclusives (a damn short list) and a good game to boot.

Yes you can beat the game in 2ish hours, but the replay value is pretty big in shoot em ups.

Raiden V is one of the games that made me buy an Xbox One. Cuphead is the other, but the less said about Cuphead's release date, the better.
 
Started playing a little Gears MP last night. Over always sucked at it, so I'm not sure why I was wanting to torture myself... Played a few rounds of Gun Game. Holy shit, that's fun! I was actually pretty good at it, for some reason. Now I'm leaning towards keeping GOW for a while just to play that. :)
 
Does anyone know if any physical 360 games ever came with a free month of Gold code inside? I just used the one month code that came with my Call of Duty 360 package and I'd rather not pay for a 12 month sub until I see what the GWG offerings are for November.

could be wrong but I think games only come with 48 hour trials and afaik quite a few games used to come with them in the past
